Statement of Purpose
Describe the situation when you thought outside the box and how did you implement
the idea? (250 words)
While I was working for BSNL, I was in charge of a section that was divided into 15 units.
Each unit had a regular BSNL staff and a contracted labour. Over the time with
retirements and no fresh recruitments, handling the services become a nightmare. It
became difficult to carry out the operations. Sub-ordinates refused to work in another
units apart from their designated ones and union issues rose up regarding overload of
work.
I decided to come up with a new plan. I merged few units depending on their needs and
availability of resources and disassociated all the contract labour from their units. I
created a reserve workforce of contract labour and used them as per the need. This
helped out to handle the situation.
