Wednesday Weekly Newsletter

Through working together, the best is yet to come

Issue 6 13th October 2015

Dear Parents,

MESSAGE OF THE WEEK- HARVEST IS COMING

Once again, many thanks indeed to parents and children who kindly donated foods to be sent to the Bamber Bridge
Food Bank. I know that these contributions will be really most welcome and will help support this organisation and
provide food over the weeks to come as we countdown to Christmas. The foods were carried to St Aidans Church
today by the children today where the juniors held their harvest assembly. St Aidans Church acts a collection centre
for foods donated to the food bank.
FINAL PAYMENT FOR ROBINWOOD
This is a reminder that the final payment for Robinwood of 24 is due by the end of this half term. Please make
cheques payable to Lancashire County Council.
NO CHOIR THIS THURSDAY
Many apologies as Choir Club will be unable to go ahead this week. Choir Club will take place at the normal time next
week.
NEW SCHOOL DINNER MENU STARTS NEXT HALF TERM
I am pleased to let you know that our menu continues to improve and will be changing to the Autumn/Winter menu
after half term. Please find the new menu attached. This will include two roast meals each week and aims to follow
the following principles:

At least three different fruits and three different vegetables each week.

A dessert containing at least 50% fruit two or more times each week.

No more than two pastry items a week.

No more than two days a week when a carbohydrate cooked in oil or fat is served (garlic bread, roast
potatoes, chips, diced potatoes, hash brown & Yorkshire pudding)
Oily fish once or more every three weeks.

No more than two portions of food that has been deep-fried, batter-coated or breadcrumb-coated each
week. This includes non-fried bread crumbed items.

The price remains at 2.30 and a school dinner slip is available at the end of this newsletter if you wish your child to
take up school dinners. Our new cooks, Angela and Susannah work hard to ensure that all children get what they wish
to eat and enough food is prepared to allow for this.
PHOTOGRAPH SLIPS
If you would like to purchase your photographs taken by Tempest Photography, please complete the slip and return to
th
the school office by the 19 October. Thank you.
WELFARE POSITION There is an opening for a welfare position at the school for one hour per day from 12pm till 1pm. The hourly rate is
7.85 (term time only) and applications can be collected from the school office. Applications are to be completed by
th
this Friday 16 October and handed to the main office.

ONLINE PAYMENTS ARE COMING!

In an attempt to remove all cash payments and cheques from school, we are asking all parents to use an e-payment
nd
method which will be starting after half term from 2 November. Many of you may already use a system like this
already, particularly if you have a child at high school as well. This is proven to be secure and very easy and can be
done online using a website called ParentPay. A letter was sent home on Monday giving clear details and a
username and password. If for any reason your child has not brought home a letter containing a username and
password, please contact Mrs. Armstrong at the school office, her email address is aarmstrong@wldps.com
SWIMMING LESSON DONATIONS
As you are aware, we kindly ask for a parental donation of 12 each term to be made towards the swimming lessons
your child receives. This is about 1 for each lesson which is great value and something which your children benefit
hugely from. Please help us by making your payments to the school office, cheques are to be made payable to
Lancashire County Council or L.C.C.
