Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks
hunting adult mentor at least 21
is reminding youngsters that a hunt for
deer, limited to eligible hunters between
the ages of 1215, will take place this
Thursday and Friday, October 15th and
16th. These dates coincide with Montanas
annual two-day teachers convention,
which are no-school days for most public
school students.

The 2-day youth hunt is open to:
Legally licensed 12-15 year olds who
have completed hunter education
and who are accompanied by a nonhunting adult at least 18 years of age;
Properly certified and legally licensed
apprentice hunters 10-15 years of
age who are accompanied by a non-

that archery season for deer and elk ends
on Sunday, October 18th. This will be
followed by the 5-day off week for deer
and elk before the general opener on
Saturday, October 24th.
An exception to the off week in
Region 6 is for those youth who hold a
621-00, 631-01, or 690-00 Elk B license.
These lucky permit holders can begin
hunting their cow elk on Thursday,
October 22nd, through the rest of the
general season. The 690-00 is also a
Youth B license, but they cannot hunt
until October 24th.

Miss Montana is coming


to Glasgow next Monday

Miss Montana Danielle


Wineman returned from the
95th Miss America pageant
in Atlantic City, New Jersey
on September 15 and has
been making appearances in
Montana schools sharing her
anti-bullying message, Act on
Compassion and entertaining
the students with her piano
talent.

On Monday, October 19th
Miss Montana will be visiting Glasgow schools. She was
in Opheim, Nashua, Saco, Malta and Whitewater this
past Monday and Tuesday.
Danielle Wineman graduated from Cut Bank
High School in 2010. In January 2010, Wineman won
first place for Humorous Solo at the 200910 Montana
State Drama, Speech and Debate championships. She is
a 23-year-old theatre arts graduate of Stephens College
and was crowned Miss Montana June 13th in Glendive
and is touring the state as an ambassador for Montana
during her year of reign.

She earned more than $5,000 in scholarship money
and other prizes from the state pageant. Winemans
competition talent was a piano solo of music from
the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Her platform
is Growing Compassion: One Scene at a Time which
emphasizes empathy and verbal communication.

The Miss America Scholarship Program is the
largest scholarship program for women in the world
giving out almost $6 million in scholarship from locals to
the national level this year. Miss America, Betty Cantrel
of Georgia received a $50,000 scholarship and served as
the Childrens Miracle Network Goodwill Ambassador
for the year among her many other appearances
including a USO tour. The Miss America Organization
is a not-for-profit organization that has maintained a
tradition of empowering American women to achieve
their personal and professional goals, while providing
a forum in which to express their opinions, talent and
intelligence.
