LEV 23:1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto
them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even
these are my feasts:
"If man had kept the law of God, as given to Adam after his fall, preserved in the ark by
Noah, and observed by Abraham, there would have been no necessity for the ordinance of
circumcision. And if the descendants of Abraham had kept the covenant, of which circumcision
was a token or pledge, they would never have gone into idolatry, nor been suffered to go down
into Egypt; and there would have been no necessity for God to proclaim his law from
Sinai, engraving it upon tables of stone, or guard it by definite directions in the judgments
and statutes given to Moses." {ST, June 17, 1880 par. 2}
Statutes Prepare Our Characters For Translation - "God is now testing and proving
His people. Character is being developed. Angels are weighing moral worth, and keeping a faithful record of all the acts of
the children of men. Among God's professed people are corrupt hearts; but they will be tested and proved. That God who
reads the hearts of everyone, will bring to light hidden things of darkness where they are often least suspected, that
stumbling blocks which have hindered the progress of truth may be removed, and God have a clean and holy people to
declare His statutes and judgments. {1T 332.3} The Captain of our salvation leads His people on step by step,
purifying and fitting them for translation, and leaving in the rear those who are disposed to draw off from the body,
who are not willing to be led, and are satisfied with their own righteousness. Note: To reject, resist and fight against
the statutes is tantamount to saying Im satisfied with my own righteousness and have no interest in being purified
and fitted for translation.
Abortion - Although many abortionists seem to have a history with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and
Adventist hospitals reportedly cooperate in facilitating abortions, the official position of the Adventist church
appears at first glance to affirm the "sanctity of human life." However, the statement goes on to state that
"decisions about life must be made in the context of a fallen world" and that "abortion should be performed
only for the most serious reasons," including "severe congenital defects," "rape or incest" or the mother's
health. In practical application, the Adventist church does not seem to condemn any specific instances of
abortion, emphasizing that "the final decision whether to terminate the pregnancy or not should be made by
the pregnant woman...," which amounts to convenience abortion on demand.
Nevertheless, author Nic Samojluk has documented that early Adventists, including James and Ellen White,
were strongly opposed to abortion.

Chairman of the 1995 Research Committee
The vaults were thrown open for the committee. They were asked to research the Grace Amadon Collection
(housed at the Center for Adventist Research at Andrews University) as well as the four volume series, The
Prophetic Faith of Our Fathers, by Leroy Edwin Froom. Additional material supplied the committee for
study was a series of letters, written by well-respected Adventist scholar, M. L. Andreasen. A research paper
on the subject by Elder J. H. Wierts was to be provided, but before it could be studied, something
unexpected happened.
It had been expected that the committee would be able to very quickly refute the idea of the Sabbath being
calculated by the ancient Hebrew luni-solar calendar. However, that is not what happened. As the committee
members began thoroughly studying into the subject of the Biblical calendar used for calculating the Day of
Atonement in 1844 and the facts of the crucifixion date, several of them became convicted of obvious
