Job Description Director of Platinum Courses (DoP)

Main role:
To oversee and manage all aspects of the Platinum Centre ensuring the smooth and
efficient delivery of professional English courses whilst delivering the highest standards
of customer service. The DoP is responsible for the ongoing development and
improvement of the Platinum programme contributing to the continued success of both
the School and the Group.
Reporting to:
The Principal and the Managing Director
Based at:
St Giles International London Central, 154 Southampton Row, London, WC1B 5JX
Core duties:
The core responsibilities of the DoP are to:

Lead, develop and deliver a coherent and compelling strategy (in consultation
with the Principal and the other Directors of Platinum Courses) for the ongoing
development and improvement of the Platinum Centre
Manage client relations with all stakeholders including handling complaints, giving
learning advice, and providing general guidance
Regularly monitor levels of satisfaction among Platinum students and staff
through formal and informal feedback collection channels
Lead and manage the departments preparations for external and internal quality
assurance audits (e.g. Accreditation UK, ISI, EAQUALS)
Maintain adequate staffing levels and manage the recruitment of new trainers in
accordance with the Schools safeguarding policies
Ensure all Platinum facilities are maintained to the highest standards
Oversee and facilitate formal and informal employee performance management
procedures including inductions, observations and appraisals
Maintain and update staff records including but not limited to: temporary
contracts, letters of appointment, leave requests, visas, DBS checks, single
central record, etc.
Be responsible for the timely submission of monthly staff payroll figures
Plan and disseminate the teaching timetable and orchestrate teacher deployment
Facilitate teacher development including advice, support with planning, leading
further training, and materials development

Other responsibilities

Ensure that all student records are complete and kept up to date
Regularly monitor and report any health and safety or maintenance-related issues
to the health and safety manager and Principal (for serious issues)
Lead operational meetings and communicate effectively with trainers about the
expectations and goals of the department and the School
Provide teaching cover for Platinum courses as and when required

Remain up-to-date with developments in professional English within the ELT


sector and ensure that the Platinum Centre offering is innovative and current
Bring to the attention of the Principal any matter that could affect the smooth
running of the School or the quality of its services to students.
Assume any other specific duties, tasks or projects as deemed to be within the
limits of your capability as directed by the Principal or Managing Director

Employee Profile:
The Director of Platinum courses will possess and be able to demonstrate the
following:
Experience, skills and education:

A first honours university degree


The Trinity or Cambridge Diploma in TEFL, or a Masters Degree in TEFL
A minimum of five years experience of teaching in TEFL some of which should
have been in British Council accredited schools or equivalent overseas.
A minimum of two years experience of teaching professional English and one-toones in a business English-related context
Evidence of having held positions of responsibility
Computer literate (MS Office essential)

The following are not requirements, but are considered advantageous:

A professional background in the world of business


A management qualification such as the English UK DELTM
Professional work-based qualifications
Experience of successfully negotiating Accreditation UK and ISI inspections
Fluency in a second language
Experience in using Class for Windows
Experience of delivering professional development related to professional English
at national events for the sector
