CONNECT/DISCONNECT, MUNICIPAL LIGHT AND POWER

Incumbent serves as Connect/Disconnect for the Anderson Municipal Light and Power Department and is
responsible for completing orders generated by Utility Office and Meter Division relating to customer services
and credit.
DUTIES:
Completes work as stated on work orders, including shutting off, turning on, reading or removing meters.
Installs meters using proper, safe installation practices.
Maintains communication with various Light and Power divisions/personnel using tw-o-way radio.
Assists other Meter Division personnel as required.
Drives assigned vehicle to work locations.
Performs duties in accordance with Utility Division Standards, safety rules, and operating regulations and
practices.
Performs duties of Service Dispatcher as needed.
Performs related duties as required.
I. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Basic knowledge of electronic principles suggested with ability to safely and properly operate a variety of hand
and power tools and equipment, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and drills.
Practical knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with ability to produce written
reports and/or other documents as required.
Ability to complete work with little or no supervision.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, including operating and effectively communicating
with a two-way radio.
Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle.
Ability to perform duties of Service Dispatcher as needed, including ability to work all shifts when assigned.
Ability to effectively perform all essential duties of the position.
II. RESPONSIBILITY:
Incumbent assists in maintaining department records, and connects, disconnects, repairs, removes, and/or
installs meters, generally working independently to maintain maximum efficiency. Incumbent must be alert to
dangers to self and others in area of work being performed.
Incumbent reports to the Meter Supervisor.
III. PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Incumbents work involves walking/standing for long periods, handling/grasping/fingering objects, hearing
sounds or communications, speaking clearly, and occasionally lifting meters weighing less than 50 pounds.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS:

Incumbent performs a majority of duties outside with exposure to a variety of inclement weather, normal traffic
hazards, power tools, and the dangers of high voltage power, for which safety precautions must be followed at
all times to prevent injury to self and others.
