Definition of a Mentor
An experienced adviser and supporter

MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that
change their lives for the better, forever.
MEMBER OF THE OLNEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The essence of the BBBS mentoring program is rooted in the

most fundamental human relationship: a caring interaction
between two people. More than just a single person is
touched. The mentor benefits by learning more about the
challenges facing youth today; schools benefit as youth
improve their chances of school success; and entire
communities benefit when young adults succeed in their
jobs, their relationships, and give back by becoming
mentors themselves and community leaders.
No one makes it in America without some kind of
mentor. Whenever successful people look back, they cite
those older adults who influenced their development, even
if they knew each other for only a short time. For the youth in our program facing steep odds against
success, having mentors is not only helpful but essential. They can't make it all by themselves. Laugh,
smile and have fun. Its that easy to be a MENTOR!!!!

OUR UPCOMING

BOWL FOR KIDS SAKE

Feb. 20th & Feb. 21st
&
Feb. 27th & Feb. 28th
John Muhs and his Little, Michael, have been matched
since May. They really enjoy each others company.
They have done several activities together such as riding
4-wheelers, playing with Johns new beagle puppy and
teaching it new tricks, going to the movies, going out for
ice cream, building projects in Johns woodshop, and
going fishing. John says Michael is a pleasure to be
around. They will be working on attending the gun-safety
class at OCC preparing for hunting season. They will also
be building a doghouse for Michaels dog. Michael tells
us, John is awesome, and he hopes other kids can have
a great guy like John in their life.

Match celebrates 8 years

Steve Beck and his Little, Paul, have been matched since
Paul was in the 5th grade. Over the last 8 years, Paul and
Steve have built deer stands, hunted deer and squirrel,
attended church activities and church camps, have done
yard work, lifted weights, went out to eat, watched
movies, went to Steves lake cabin, and went fishing.
Paul has attended the gun-safety course at OCC. Theres
not much these two fellas havent done! Now that Paul is
a senior in high school, Steve has seen him grow in
several areas over the years. Paul is more respectful, has
more self-confidence, hes able to make sound decisions,
and he has more interest in hobbies. Paul now wants to
attend Lincoln Trail college in Robinson. Paul tells us we
have found him the perfect Big Brother. We would like
to wish Paul best of luck in his future!
What if every child fulfilled his or her potential? Think how
amazing that would be. Now you can start more little's on the
path to BIG things. For more volunteering information, please
call Dana at 392-3863 today.
