 Falling Away
A Warriors Fanfic
The sun twinkled, curling its soft tendrils
around the leaves of the trees, and waking up the
world in the silent way it did. It shone like the yellow
eyes of a cat, forever staring at the world, comforting
it in its embrace. It twirled around the lithe body of a
cat, slinking, eyes narrowed. But even the sun could
not warm the cold heart of this cat. Its heart was
forever enclosed in a deep shell of hate. For there
was one whom it could never forgive, and the hate
built up its shell around his heart as he thought of
that cat. The sun had long since given up on this cat
when he arrived at his destination. His dark amber
eyes glinted as he stared at the tree. The tree, that
so long ago, had let the sun warm the cat·s heart. But
the tree had closed up, covering the warm light of
the sun. The cat·s deep amber eyes bore into the
bark of the tree, staring at nothingness. He spoke.
´You are the cause of all my troubles, tree. I
would not have felt the warmth of your embrace if
you hadn·t led me to you first. But you cut me off
from that embrace, tree.µ His white pelt shimmered
c against the darkness of the forest.

´I brought my sister here, tree. And you killed
her. You let her fall.µ Even as he spoke, he felt the
tree·s evil presence grow stronger. But yet, he felt
his own growing stronger, too. A shadow of a gray cat
appeared next to him.
´Do not grieve, brother. Let down the shields
you have built up and let the world see your true
form. Because I am here with you always, brother, to
remind you never to give up on your dreams.µ As she
spoke, the tree began to shrink. Its branches spread
out, shedding the sun·s warm light over the dark,
leafy floor. The cat·s heart began to open.
´Thank you, Silverthistle.µ He said. ´You have
opened my heart to what is true again.µ
´It was my honor, Whiteblaze, and I hope that
you will leave it open so that love and kindness will
always find its way in.µ Silverthistle faded into the
mist, and Whiteblaze walked away renewed, for all
darkness in his heart, and in his territory, had fallen
away.
