GTMU
l If a multimode base station supports co-transmission and the shared ports for
co-transmission are provided by the GSM mode, replacing the GTMU will
interrupt the services of the peer mode. Typical scenario: The GU dual-mode
base station supports co-transmission over TDM through the E1/T1 ports on
the GTMU. The UMTS data is transmitted through the backplane in the manner
of TDM over Packet (ToP).
l For a multimode base station in dual-star topology, if the GTMU is reset
abnormally or removed, the data and voice services of the UMTS or LTE mode
may be interrupted.

An ESD wrist strap or a pair of ESD gloves and an M3 Phillips screwdriver are available.
Associated personnel have gained permission to access the site and have obtained the
required keys.
Optional:
When restoring software and configuration data using a USB flash drive, ensure that the
USB port on the main control board has been enabled.
The USB port on the main control board is enabled by default before delivery. Local
engineers can run MML commands (DSP LOCALUSBPORT for the NodeB/eNodeB/
BTS3900) to query the status of the USB port on the main control board. If the value of

DISABLE, the USB port is disabled. To enable the USB port, run MML commands (SET
LOCALUSBPORT for the NodeB/eNodeB/BTS3900) to set Enable Flag to ENABLE.
Context
l
Replacing the UMPT has the following impacts on the base station:
If no standby UMPT is configured in a single-mode base station or co-MPT multimode
base station, replacing a UMPT will interrupt all services carried by the base station.
Therefore, a UMPT must be replaced within 10 minutes.
If a separate-MPT multimode base station supports co-transmission and the shared ports
for co-transmission are on the UMPT, replacing the UMPT will interrupt the services
of the peer mode. Typical scenario: The GU dual-mode base station supports cotransmission over IP through the Ethernet link on the UMPT. The GSM data is
transmitted through the interconnected FE ports.
For a separate-MPT multimode base station in dual-star topology, replacing the UMPT
that works in UMTS mode may decrease the rate of GSM or LTE data services.
However, the voice services will not be affected. Replacing the UMPT that works in
LTE mode may decrease the rate of GSM or UMTS data services. However, the voice
services will not be affected. Replacing the UMPT that works in GSM mode may
interrupt the data or voice services of UMTS or LTE mode.

NOTE
This section describes the procedure for replacing a WMPT with a new one. The UMPT cannot be used
as a spare part for the WMPT. The procedure for replacing a WMPT with a UMPT is the same as that for
replacing a WMPT with a new one. For details about the replacement procedure, see the procedure in
sections "Modifying the VLAN Configuration Mode" of RAN Reconfiguration Guide.
An ESD wrist strap or a pair of ESD gloves and an M3 Phillips screwdriver are available.
Associated personnel have gained permission to access the site and have obtained the
required keys.
If the value of
Enable Flag is Enable, the USB port is enabled. If the value of Enable Flag is
DISABLE, the USB port is disabled. To enable the USB port, run MML commands (SET
LOCALUSBPORT for the NodeB/eNodeB/BTS3900) to set Enable Flag to ENABLE.
Context
l
Replacing the WMPT has the following impacts on the base station:
If no standby WMPT is configured, replacing a WMPT will interrupt all services carried
by the NodeB. Therefore, a WMPT must be replaced within 10 minutes.
If a multimode base station supports co-transmission and the shared ports for cotransmission are on the WMPT, replacing the WMPT will interrupt the services of the
peer mode. Typical scenario: The GU dual-mode base station supports co-transmission
over IP through the Ethernet link on the WMPT. The GSM data is transmitted through
the FE ports interconnecting the WMPT and GTMU panels.
For a multimode base station in dual-star topology, replacing the WMPT may decrease
the rate of GSM or LTE data services. However, voice services will not be affected

After a UTRP is added, the power required by the BBU may be greater than the power
supported by the UPEU. Therefore, a UPEUc needs to be installed before the UTRP is
added. For details about the power specifications of the UPEU and how to install a UPEUc,
see UPEU and 5.4.1 Adding a UPEU, respectively. In some high-temperature areas, if a
second UPEU is installed in the BBU in an outdoor AC cabinet, the FAN unit in the BBU
must be replaced with a FANc unit that can operate at a high speed. For details about how
to replace a FAN unit, see 5.3.11 Replacing the FAN Unit.
Context
NOTE
In a high-temperature area, the number of days with the maximum temperature higher than 45C
(113F) exceeds 10 in a year.
