Course outcomes:
The assignment will enable students to:
1. Analyze various techniques and problems in construction processes, infrastructure
services and maintenance works. (CO3; PO6)
Task 1
a) From the below information,
i)
Interpret and tabulate the IBS score by using Table 2 (b) for the 13 units of 3storey superlinks house. (Refer Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3).
ii)
Conclude and comment on IBS score, whether it is sufficient for CIDB
requirement
Typical layout floor plan for one unit is as shown in Figure 1.

1) Construction Area per floor
Area for 1 unit of apartment = 120m2
Lift lobby area = 150m2
Area for 1 floor = [120 10 units + 150] = 1350m2

2) Structural Systems
i) Tunnel formwork system
ii) Roof truss: prefabA steel roof truss.

3) Wall System per floor


i) Precast blockworks wall = 284m length
(10 units + lobby area)
ii) Tunnel formwork wall = 160m length
(10 units + lobby area)

4) Other simplified construction solutions


i) Doors: 100% comply with MS 1064 Part 4: 2001
Windows: 100% comply with MS 1064 Part 5: 2001
ii) Repetition of floor to floor height = 60%
Vertical repetition of structural floor layout = 78%
iii) Staircase: 100% prefab staircase

Analyse and tabulate the IBS score for 20 Storeys apartment. (Refer Table 1, Table 2 and Table

Task 3
Project information:
Scarlet Villa is a residential development project by UDA Land Sdn Bhd. There are total 46 units
of bungalow, semi-detached house and terrace

i)

Building A - 3-storey bungalow (Bouvadia)

Construction area, QST (building A) = 3,000m2


IBS Score (building A) = 79

ii)

Building B - 3-storey semi-detached (Begonia)


Construction area, QST (building B) = 3,000m2
IBS Score (building B) = 82

iii)

Building C - 3-storey superlink (Wisteria)


Construction area, QST (building C) = 3,200m2
IBS Score (building C) = 76

Total construction area (Building A + B + C) = 9,200m2

Analyse and tabulate the IBS score for the 46 units of house. (Refer Table 1,
Table 2 and Table 3).
