Solemnity of All Saints / All Souls

Prayer for All Saints and All Souls

We thank you, God, for this great company of witnesses
surrounding us with their unseen presence.
To Christ their gaze is turned.
May our eyes also be fixed on Him with whom we will one day be
united with all the souls and saints forever.
Eternal Rest grant unto them, O Lord
And let perpetual light shine on them. Amen

A View from the Shepherd

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints and All Souls,
remembering all the saints and souls known and unknown to us
who enjoy the glory of Heaven. In Todays Gospel account we hear
the Beatitudes, which are guidelines for true joy and the attainment
of sanctity in our Christian lives. We hear how to live lives of
holiness so that we main attain happiness in this life, but even
more happiness in the next life as we strive to likewise be
numbered among all the saints in Heaven.
All who COME TO Jesus will be WELCOMED by Jesus in the
unlimited generousity of Heaven where we will participate in the
Eternal life he offers. On this special day, it is useful to both pray
for those that have gone before us but also to reflect on how deeply
we have embraced this promise of Jesus ourselves.
I would suggest that throughout the month of November, you
review you own personal list of deceased relatives and friends and
take a day to reflect on their giftedness in your life, what you
learned from them, and perhaps ask them for guidance. I love the
crisp atumn nights when I stare at the many stars and as I name
one for my deceased relatives or friends I reflect on their
importance in my life.
May The Peace of the Eternal Light be with them Forever!

Live Jesus in Our Hearts, Forever!!
