2011 Census: Small Population Tables for England and Wales

This table is part of the release of 2011 Census statistics for small populations of merged local authorities in England and Wale
Small population tables provide census data for some of the key characteristics of people in specific small population groups of an ethnic group, or with a country of birth - in which the small size of the total population in that group means confidentiality
of more detailed standard statistics.

These small population data are produced only for geographic areas in which the small population being counted is 200 or grea
which the population exceeds this threshold are included in each table. This means that all tables do not contain the same geog
those exceeding the threshold will vary depending on the small population being counted.
This release is in accordance with section 20 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007.

Confidentiality
ONS as the executive arm of the UK Statistics Authority has a legal obligation not to reveal information collected in confidence
census about individual people and households. The confidentiality of all census results, including the counts in this release,
is protected by a combination of a variety of disclosure protection measures.

Area codes

All areas use the nine character codes introduced from January 2011.
Merged local authorities

Small population tables are available for merged local authority districts. In order to provide the most detail pos
local authority district (LAD) level while maintaining the confidentiality of individuals information, it is necessary
authorities. In this geographic hierarchy, the London boroughs of Westminster and City of London have been me
been merged with the Isles of Scilly UA. All other London boroughs, unitary authorities and districts in England a
Wales remain unmerged in this hierarchy. These unmerged areas have the same boundaries as their equivalent
