TEXT ON BLACK SCREEN - "Plano, Texas: In the year 199X"

FADE IN:
EXT. TEXAS - PROFIT RESIDENCE - EARLY MORNING
Set against the backdrop of the George W. Bush Freeway,
among the other upper middle class estates, sits a seemingly
ordinary three story brick house. Audible from the wide
driveway, coming from within the house, is the persistent
BARKING of a dachshund and the whining of a YOUNG BOY.
MARK (V.O.)
Dylan!
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - FAMILY ROOM - SAME
On the first floor, a family room ripped from the pages of
Pottery Barn in on display devoid of actually family; only a
showcase of expensive furniture and set pieces. The BARKING
continues.
MARK (O.S.)
Dylan, shut up your dog!
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - SECOND FLOOR - SAME
On the second floor landing emerging from his bedroom, a
YOUNG BOY (Mark, 10) with tousled blond hair and wearing
pajamas pants, he KNOCKS rapidly on a closed door. The
BARKING still continues.
MARK
Dylan, wake up and fix your dog.
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - DYLANS ROOM - SAME
Sprawled out on top of the covers wearing black jean shorts,
a pink shirt, and clutching a Sega Genesis game controller,
DYLAN A. YATES (12) stirs. Buzzed on both sides, Dylans
long blonde mane of hair trails after her as she rolls off
the bed.
Shambling down the carpeted attic stairs, Dylan reaches the
base, yawns and kicks open the door to her room.
MARK (O.S.)
Ow, my face!

2.
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - SECOND FLOOR LOFT - SAME
Dylan walks like a zombie up the steps into the loft with
her blonde hair covering her face.
Scanning the loft from the large television, across the
bookshelf full of VHS tapes, to the wrap around leather
couch, Dylan hones in on the BARKING.
Wedging herself between the back of the couch and the
banister overlooking the first floor family room, Dylan
finds a small black DACHSHUND (Banana, 7 in dog years).
DYLAN
Banana, you are my least favorite
alarm clock.
Tilting her head to the side, Banana stares up at Dylan with
her big dumb eyes.
DYLAN
As long as Im up, how bout a
race?
Banana wags her tail and YELPS as Dylan gently lifts the dog
up and out from behind the couch.
Dylans hand unravels the cord of a Super Nintendo
Controller.
Her finger presses the power button on the television remote
control. The sound of static erupts from the TV.
Swiftly, Dylans cracked black nail-polished fingers switch
on the Super Nintendo console.
The television instantly switches from static to black:
Dylans reflection appears dimly sitting before the
television with controller in hand.

GAME WORLD:
EXT. BIG BLUE RACETRACK - DAY
Reaching out across a massive ocean, an expansive racetrack
stretches over the crystal blue waters sitting on tall steel
pillars.
Behind the starting line, four HOVER VEHICLES of various
sizes and shapes idle, revving their engines.

3.

INT. BIG BLUE RACETRACK - HOVERCRAFT - SAME

Sitting inside the cockpit of the BLUE FALCON hovercraft and
wearing racing gear and helmet, Dylan looks over to the
passenger seat where Banana sits awaiting the race to start.
The dachshund wags her tail in the passenger seat beside
Dylan, and lets out an excited YELP.
EXT. BIG BLUE RACETRACK - SAME
A small spherical spacecraft flies to the front of the
starting line and hovers above the racers. From the speakers
on the side of the small craft, the ANNOUNCER counts down in
a robotic voice.
ANNOUNCER
Three. Two. One. Go!
INT. BLUE FALCON COCKPIT - SAME
Dylan lays down the the throttle and ignites the boosters.
EXT. BIG BLUE RACETRACK - SAME
Sprinting after the other cars, Dylan takes the first turn
in the track with ease and precision passing up a GREEN
HOVER CAR (Wild Goose).
Banking right on a ninety degree turn, Dylan collides with a
YELLOW CAR (Golden Fox). The Golden Fox bumps back, but
Dylan corrects and bolts down the straight away.
With the Golden Fox right on Dylans tail, she deftly
maneuvers through a tight S curve catching up to the PINK
CAR (Fire Sting Ray).
Fire Sting Ray is quick, hugging the electrified rails of
the course. Purposefully slamming into the side of a DRONE
vehicle, the Sting Ray causes the Drone to explode.
Blasting out through the explosion, Dylans Blue Falcon
continues to give chase to the Sting Ray.
INT. BLUE FALCON COCKPIT - SAME
Dylan grips the yolk tighter and throttles up, easing into
the next turn.

4.

INT. FIRE STING RAY COCKPIT - SAME

Looking into his rear view monitor, SAMURAI GOROH, (41)
scowls as Dylan quickly approaches.
EXT. BIG BLUE RACETRACK -SAME
Fire Sting Ray continues to jockey in front of Blue Falcon.
Leaning into the hard turn, Blue Falcon slips by the Sting
Ray, narrowly missing the electric guard rails.
Hitting the boosters, Dylan leaves Goroh in the dust and
sails through the finish line.
RETURN TO REAL WORLD:
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - SECOND FLOOR LOFT - SAME
A game controller is hurled through the air and just barely
misses the television.
Sitting on the floor, Dylan leans back up against the couch
and stretches, looking over to Mark who stands up to leave
in a huff.
MARK
No ones going to want to play with
you when you cheat, Dylan.
DYLAN
If having more skill, finesse, and
being better than you in every
conceivable fashion is cheating,
then fine; whatever keeps your
boyhood in tact.
As Mark exits the loft, his identical twin brother (MATTHEW,
10) pushes past him and gathers the second player
controller. Like his brother Matthew also wears Chewbacca
slippers, but Matthews robe is green instead of blue.
DYLAN
(To Matthew)
You wanna play, or do you wanna
whine all morning too?
Switching out the cartridges from F-Zero to Mortal Kombat
Two, Matthew sits down beside Dylan on the couch and
grumbles to himself.
MATTHEW
Id like to win, for once.

GAME WORLD:
MONTAGE EXT. THE LIVING FOREST-

NIGHT

Hideous human-like faces embedded on the sides of oak trees

scowl and moan. The trees line a dirt path on which TWO
COMBATANTS enter...
A MALE NINJA (Scorpion, 30) wearing a gold costume, cracks
his knuckles.
Dylan, wearing knee high black boots and a blue leotard,
withdraws two steel fans from her belt and unfolds them.
From somewhere unseen, a MENACING VOICE (Shao Khan) yellsSHAO KHAN (V.O.)
Fight!
Dylan runs towards her opponent and throws both steel fans
ahead of her like boomerangs.
Before Scorpion can get a foot off the ground, he is
instantly bisected by the fans; his legs falling left, and
torso right.
EXT. DESERT WASTELAND - DAY
A BRUCE LEE RIPOFF front flips onto the concrete platform in
the middle of the desert and runs forward ready to attack.
Dylan, still wearing her blue ninja garb, also rushes
forward. Before the ninja can land a punch, Dylan slides
under her opponent and uppercuts him up and out of the
ring...
The Bruce Lee clone falls from the sky, and buries himself
headfirst, waste deep in the sand.
EXT. THE PIT - NIGHT
Sparring atop a suspension bridge, Dylan squares off against
A GREEN NINJA. Ducking under her opponents kicks, Dylan
rises up with another uppercut and connects with his jaw.
The Ninja goes up and over the rails, falling down to his
death: impaled on a pit of spikes.

REAL WORLD:
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - SECOND FLOOR LOFT - SAME
Dylan wears a thoroughly unimpressed look on her face and
tilts her head over to Matthew. The young boy looks straight
ahead, clenching his teeth.
MATTHEW
How about best of seven?
Before engaging in another rematch with the young boy, Dylan
looks past Matthew and over to the stairs.
Climbing up the steps with the weight of the world on his
shoulders, is a YOUNG TEENAGER (Luke, 14) with his dirty
blue jeans, sweat covered shirt, and blond bangs covering
his face.
DYLAN
Did you just crawl out of the
grave?
Luke says nothing, only giving a moments pause before
continuing on his way up the stairs.
Dylan runs after.
DYLAN
Hey, seriously are you okay?
The door slams in Dylans face. With a huff, Dylan returns
to the couch with a worried expression.
MATTHEW
Is that what happens when you get a
girlfriend?
DYLAN
I wouldnt know yet.
(Beat)
Best of seven?
Matthew gives Dylan a hesitant nod, and picks up his
controller.
After the match starts on the television, Matthews
character is quickly pummeled by Dylans lady ninja. Before
hes killed off, Matthew presses the pause button as he
hears a VOICE (Jill Profit, 33) shout from down stairs.

JILL (V.O.)
Matthew, Mark, Luke, downstairs for
breakfast.
Matthew happily abandons the game. Dylan is about to
continue playing when Jill calls out again.
JILL (V.O.)
You too, Dylan.
EXT./INT. RICHARDSON FAMILY YMCA - LAND CRUISER - MORNING
Driving south on Custer Road, the emerald green SUV turns
right onto Twilight Trail and into the busy parking lot of
the Richardson Family YMCA.
Jill, a redhead with fire in her eyes and an ever thinning
calm Irish Catholic demeanor, squeezes the steering wheel
tighter and tighter as the sound of HONKING HORNS, the Twins
ARGUING in the back seat, and the electronic CHIP-TUNES of
Dylans Game Boy Color plays on, and on.
JILL
Dylan, will you turn that thing
off!
In the far back seat, Dylan removes her headphones and
pauses her game.
DYLAN
Did you say something?
EXT. RICHARDSON FAMILY YMCA - LAND CRUISER - MORNING
Dylan opens the back hatch to the Land Cruiser and climbs
out, vaulting over the tailgate and landing on the asphalt.
Her black Converse with black laces are double knotted. Worn
around her waist over her pink t-shirt and black jean
shorts, is a leather belt with a metal Triforce buckle.
Dylan slides her Game Boy into a holster on her belt, and
walks toward the Gym entrance.
Before she enters the gym, Dylan turns back to the SUV.
Luke hasnt left the passengers seat yet. His mom is saying
something and hes arguing back.
Puzzled, Dylan watches as the SUV drives away, but soon
dismisses it as Matthew and Mark push past her.

MARK
Out of the way, nerd.
Raising her fist, both Mark and Matthew cower in fear of
Dylan and quickly run into the gym. Calling out from behind
her, a mousy VOICE (Holly, 12) warns in sing song.
HOLLY (O.S.)
Dylan, darlin, its much to early
to assault the boys.
Holly, wearing a blue jean skirt, red and white blouse, and
blue jean vest strolls over to Dylan. Blowing the dark black
bangs out of her eyes, Holly smiles.
HOLLY
If you start pummeling them this
early therell be nothin for us to
do this afternoon.
Dylan sighs and looks down into Hollys eyes.
DYLAN
I suppose youre right.
Holly grabs hold of Dylans hand and looks it over.
HOLLY
Besides, you dont wanna ruin your
nails anymore than they already
are.
Dylan continues walking toward the gym, towing Holly by the
hand. Holly continues to inspect Dylans nails.
DYLAN
Holly, painting my nails takes up
the fifth slot on my Things I
dont care about list.
HOLLY
Clearly.
DYLAN
I like to get my hands dirty.
HOLLY
Nothing wrong with presenting the
illusion that youre a lady.
DYLAN
As long as its just pretend.

9.

INT. RICHARDSON FAMILY YMCA - CONTINUOUS

As Dylan and Holly enter the gym, the young girls are
greeted by a large banner lazily painted on white butcher
paper that reads"WELCOME TO WAR WEEK!"
Dylan rolls her eyes and the two girls both walk to their
spot against the furthest wall of the gym. As they walk, the
sound of COUNCILOR BRAD, (21) screaming into his microphone
assaults their ears.
COUNCILOR BRAD
Good morning campers! Lets move
it, move it, move it! Line up
against the wall for roll call, and
welcome to War Week!
Councilor Brad looks like the last surviving member of the
Hitler youth; tall Aryan build, short shorts, and a red YMCA
Staff polo shirt.
Dylan and Holly stand with their backs against the padded
wall.
HOLLY
We have to escape.
Dylan unholsters her Game Boy and switches it on.
DYLAN
Im already gone.
FADE TO GREEN:
ON SCREEN - "ONE YEAR EARLIER..."
INT. STONEBRIAR MALL - FOOD COURT - NIGHT
Dylan, in bangs and a jean dress, sits at the far end of a
plastic picnic table glaring down at the opposite end.
At the other end of Dylans table sits Luke, playing with a
grey brick (an original Game Boy). Across from him sit the
Twins; Matthew has his meal in neat untouched piles, Mark
has more ketchup than food on his plate.
At the head of the table, is Jill and beside her DYLANS
FATHER (Col. Isaac Yates, 48) smiling between bites of his
sandwich.

Col. Isaac Yates dresses like Indiana Jones in his

university professor disguise; the suit barely contains the
soldier underneath.
Jill mindlessly turns her wedding ring around on her finger
with her thumb.
Leaning over, Colonel Yates embraces Jill and kisses her
forehead. Jill looks up and quickly kisses him on the cheek;
genuine affection is clearly one sided.
Col. Yates smiles, and looks from Jill down to the end of
the table to his daughter.
Dylans seat is vacant.
INT. STONEBRIAR MALL - TILT ARCADE - SAME
Like a moth to the flame, Dylan, wearing a light blue jean
dress and sandals, wonders closer toward the orgy of neon
light and 16-BIT sounds.
There is a long line behind one of the machines that
catches Dylans eye; Street Fighter Two.
Standing behind the player-one controllers is a tall,
skinny, punk; second cousin to Johnny Rotten (Wilson, 14).
FREEZE FRAME - Close on Wilson.
We suddenly go from color to black and white as an air raid
siren goes off.
ON SCREEN - Wilson Orison Wiley AKA - W.O.W.
RETURN TO SCENE:
Wilson laughs a low, arrogant laugh as his character on
screen uppercuts his opponent so hard, the second player
catches on fire.
A CHUBBY KID (12) with glasses walks away defeated.
WILSON
Next?
Like being pulled in by a tractor beam Dylan waits in line,
tentatively watching the players hands and the arcade
screen as the digital characters duke it out.
MONTAGE ON ARCADE MONITOR - a sumo wrestler and Hindu monk kick and
punch each other across the screen.

IN LINE - Dylans eyes dart back and forth watching the
players.
ON ARCADE SCREEN - Two new digital combatants on the screen
continue to beat the ever loving crap out of each other.
RETURN TO SCENE
Dylan wakes from her meditation to the sound of fingers
snapping in front of her face.
WILSON
Lets go Blondie, I dont have all
day and I need the practice.
Her brow furrows and eyes narrow as Dylan ignores the
Gingers comments, and grips the player two controls.
WILSON
Here...
Wilson slides a quarter over to Dylan across the top of the
cabinet.
WILSON
Your first beating is on me.
Dylan takes her own quarter out and slides it into the
machine. Wilson shrugs and grabs the player one controls.
WILSON
Suit yourself.
GAME WORLD:
EXT. US AIR FORCE BASE - LATE AFTERNOON
Stepping on the tarmac in front of a F-15 Tomcat, cat calls
and whistles are heard from VARIOUS AIRMEN sitting on crates
as Dylan enters the battlefield.
Wearing black combat boots, camo-pants, green tank top, and
her long blonde hair now buzzed into a crew cut, the young
girl clenches her fists ready to fight.
WILSON (V.O.)

Flipping into the arena, Wilsons game character is none

other than BLANKA; a green skinned feral beast of a man with
bright orange wild hair.
ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
Round One, Fight!
Defying gravity, Blanka somersaults through the air as if
shot out of a cannon and kicks Dylan backwards.
Dylan doesnt back off. Jumping to her feet Dylan rushes,
grabs, and lifts her opponent twice her size; slamming him
backwards into a stack of wooden crates.
Blanka is back up, punching Dylan with an uppercut, followed
up by a savage kick to the face.
Dylan again closes the gap between her and her opponent with
a flip kick, followed up by a series of low and high
punches.
Trying to get some distance from Dylan, Blanka jumps back
nearly to the edge of the arena.
Dylan rushes, but Blanka covers himself in an electric field
like an eel. As soon as Dylan lands a hit, shes shocked and
knocked backwards.
Blanka moves in for the kill, but Dylans back up, leaping
into the air with a flip kick. Its a miss.
Blanka jumps back, but Dylan answers with her own special
move.
DYLAN
Sonic boom!
With a strong right cross, Dylan sends a wave of energy
across the arena and right into Blanka.
With a monstrous wail, Blanka falls from the air
unconscious.
Standing tall, Dylan rakes a comb across her head and looks
down at her fallen opponent.
DYLAN
Looks like youre just not man
enough to beat me.
REAL WORLD:

INT. TILT ARCADE - SAME

The CROWD of defeated nerds cheer as Wilson scoffs and
relinquishes the player one spot to Dylan.
Before Dylan can take the number one spot, shes met with a
score screen asking for her initials.
With a smile, the girl moves the joystick to enter her name.
ON SCREEN - D.A.Y.
COL. YATES (O.S.)
Dylan. Ashley. Yates. Front and
center right now!
Dylan turns from the arcade cabinet to see her father
standing at attention and thoroughly pissed off in the
entryway.
As Dylan walks to her dad, Wilson calls back to his rival
from the other side of the arcade.
WILSON (O.S.)
Enjoy your victory while it lasts,
your initials wont be there
forever.
Dylan whips around struggling to come back with something
clever, but cant.
WILSON
Itll probably only be there for a
day-- Dylan.
FADE TO WHITE:

EXT. RICHARDSON FAMILY YMCA - AFTERNOON
Dylan still has her face buried in her Game Boy. She doesnt
notice shes holding up a line.
COUNCILOR BRAD (O.S.)

Looking up from her Game Boy, Dylan takes in her
surroundings.
A line of impatient CAMPERS hurl insults behind her, and a
daunting obstacle course lies before her.

COUNCILOR BRAD
Lets get a move on, Yates!
With a heavy sigh, Dylan holsters her Game Boy Color and
stretches lazily.
Bolting from the starting line, Dylan powers over a wooden
wall twice her size. Flinging herself over the top, she
keeps momentum, jumping up and swinging hand over hand on
monkey bars over a mud pit. Once over the pit, she dives
down and army crawls under a stretch of mock-barbwire. Back
on her feet, she climbs up a rope ladder to the top of a
wooden platform, and jumps head over heels onto a giant air
cushion.
Brad stops his watch: 37 seconds.
Dylan rolls herself off the giant air cushion, flips her
hair back, and resumes playing her Game Boy as she walks
back to the line of campers.
COUNCILOR BRAD
One minute and forty seconds;
better luck next time.
DYLAN
Thats what your girlfriend said
last night too.
COUNCILOR BRAD
What was that?
Dylan shrugs and sits down next to the campers that have
already ran the course.
Councilor Brad doesnt wait for a response.
COUNCILOR BRAD
Alright, next camper lets go, go,
go!
INT. GIRLS LOCKER ROOM - LATER
Wearing an all black racing one piece swim suit, Dylan crams
the rest of her clothes into her locker. Her belt however,
is placed gently on top of the clump of clothes.
As Dylan shuts the locker, and closes the pink combo lock,
she turns to the sounds of GIRLS tormenting someone inside
one of the stalls.

wrong hole.

Dylan rounds the corner of the locker room, to the bathroom

to see three GIRLS banging on one of the closed stalls.
DYLAN
Back off, Isabella, or Ill jam a
tampon up your wrong hole!
Between the ASIAN GIRL (Peach, 11), and the STOCKY GIRL
(Daisy, 12) is a LANKY BLONDE (Isabella Catrina Eklund, 13)
in a nearly inappropriate white bikini. She spins on her
heals and scowls at Dylan.

DYLAN
Did you just call me a dam in
Holland?
Dylan smirks and tries to walk off, but Daisy pushes Dylan
back.

From inside the stall, Holly tries to calm the situation

slap the grin off of Dylans face. Quickly, all three girls
start beating on Dylan who eventually gets pushed to the
floor.
Gritting her teeth, Dylan does her best to curl up and keep
her self covered, blocking their attacks.
EXT. GIRLS LOCKER ROOM - LATER
Peach, Daisy, and Isabella strut out of the locker room
laughing.
ISABELLA
Okay girls, now we can go lay out.
INT. GIRLS LOCKER - SAME
Dylan knocks on the closed stall.
DYLAN
May I come in?
Holly opens the door and gasps.
HOLLY
Holy shit, are you-?
DYLAN
Im fine; just going to go throw up
some blood and Ill be all good.
How are you?
Holly closes the door to the stall behind Dylan as she
enters.

INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - 2ND FLOOR HALLWAY - SAME

INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - DYLANS ROOM - SAME
Still playing her Genesis, Dylan keeps focus on the
television in front of her.
DYLAN
Im naked, go away.
Dylan ignores the sound of the door opening and footsteps
plodding up the carpeted stairs. Soon, Luke is standing
right behind Dylan.
DYLAN
I said I was naked.
LUKE
You didnt sound naked.
On Dylans small television, we see her character run faster
than light over green hills, and wooden bridges.
DYLAN
Im trying to finish a speed run of
Sonic, so make it quick.
LUKE
I need your help.
On the television, Dylans blue hedgehog misses the next
jump and falls to its death. The words Game Over flash
upon the screen. Dylan finally turns around to see Luke.
Still wearing the same dirty clothes from the morning/
previous night, Luke looks like a train wreck.
DYLAN

water is on the left, and cold is
on the right. That is the extent of
the help I can offer.

Opening the wooden gate on the side of the house, both Dylan
and Luke walk their bikes out onto the grass and into the

Dylan is wearing a poncho one size too big, in various
shades of pink. As she coasts down the street, Luke, wearing
a grey and red Letterman jacket flies past Dylan.
DYLAN
Hey wait up!
LUKE
We have to hurry. We cant be late.
(Beat)
I cant afford to be late again.
ON SCREEN - A realistic map of the Dallas suburbs slowly
morphs into a Pac-Man like grid with two dots, one pink and
one red blazing a trail of light behind them as they move
from the top of the map snaking their way to the bottom.
RETURN TO SCENE:
EXT. OAK DALE ESTATES - GUARD SHACK - LATER
Following close behind Luke, Dylan coasts under the eve of
the brick guardhouse of the large gated community.
Luke stops his bike right next to the glass door and wraps
the glass impatiently with his knuckles.
Inside, a husky Hispanic GUARD (Mario, 32) pushes the cap
back on his head and leans forward in his chair. He lazily
moves towards the door and throws it open.
MARIO
Name and address?
LUKE
Last name is Han, 1-9-8-3 Habor

DYLAN
Excuse us, but is the neighborhood
closed now?
MARIO
Closed? No.
DYLAN
Great, than enough with the
questions and let us in already.
EXT. OAK DALE ESTATES - LATER
Cruising quickly down hill, snaking through the large estate
homes, Luke and Dylan eventually come to a cul-de-sac
overlooking one of the lakes of the Preston Trail Golf
Course.
At the end of the Cul-De Sac stands a single story house of
white lime stone with a grand driveway akin to a hotel
foyer.
Dylan stands at the base of the driveway admiring the house.
DYLAN
We really have to ride all the way
out here for some game?
LUKE (O.S.)
This way, around back.
Looking to her left, Dylan catches sight of Luke wheeling
his bike through the back gate.
Chasing after Luke, Dylan walks her bike through the
driveway to the back fence. Pushing through the wooden fence
her eyes take in the massive backyard.
Beyond the Olympic size swimming pool, and the guest house
sitting at the far end, the backyard of the property blends
seamlessly into the perfect green grass of the expansive
golf course.

Luke is already at the other end of the pool, nearly at the

Finally catching up to Luke, Dylan steps up to the entrance
just as he begins to knock.
A porch light switches on, and a distinctly KOREAN VOICE (Bo
Han, 16) speaks over an intercom.
BO HAN (INTERCOM)
What do you Users want?
LUKE
Its me, Bo Han.
BO HAN (INTERCOM)
Who? We dont have a Bo Han here.
LUKE

Sub Zero; I dont have time to dick

A BUZZER sounds off, and the door opens.
INT. BO HAN DOJO - SAME

1970s Kung Fu film; white rice mat floor, vaulted ceiling,
even a Bonsai Tree in the far left corner.
Beside the plant there is a dark glass closet with what
looks like a bunch of lockers inside. Above the lockers is a
small loft. Climbing down from wooden stairs attached to the
loft is a tall Korean teenager (BO HAN) with a crew cut.
He has no shoes, grey karate pants, and a blue ENCOM
corporate polo shirt.
BO HAN
Welcome, Users!
Luke is still wearing a forlorn face: not amused.
BO HAN
(Off Lukes face)
It seems youve met with a terrible
fate, havent you?

Your sister is a local legend.
LUKE
Yeah, shes a real savant or
whatever. Can we get on with this?

Bo Han sighs and walks towards the back of the room towards
the floor to ceiling glass windows. Dylan and Luke follow
after.
Up against the tinted glass wall, is a long black oak table.
resting upon the table are three, seventeen inch monitors in
a semicircle around a mouse and keyboard.
Bo Han rolls out the leather office chair and spins it
around to face Dylan. He motions for her to sit and

BO HAN
Your chair, Lady Day.

Dylan rolls her eyes and waits for Bo to move before sitting
down. As she spins around to face the monitors, both Luke
and Bo walk over to the glass closet.
DYLAN
Hey, wheres the tower on this
thing?
BO HAN
I keep the servers in here, where
its cool. If they over heat; game
over.
As Bo Han slides opens the door, the HUM of the servers
standing about six feet tall can be heard over the gentle
WHOOSH of the air conditioner fans.
BO HAN
Would you kindly hand me the disc?
Luke reaches into his Letterman jacket and hands Bo the
disc. Taking the disc from Luke, Bo places it into one of
the tower servers.
Sitting at the desk, Dylan watches as all the screens
suddenly turn pink, blue, white, then black again.
DYLAN
So what kind of game is this
anyway?
BO HAN
That is in fact the mystery of the
evening.
Luke and BO rejoin Dylan at the end of the table and unfold
two metal chairs. Sitting down at the desk, Bo also unfolds
a laptop.
BO HAN
Would you care to share with the
rest of the class, LAG.
DYLAN
(To Luke)
Lag?
BO HAN
Oh, yeah, he miss typed once and it
stuck. He never told you?

DYLAN

BO HAN
A Doom Clone; you see through the
eyes of your character as you
shoot. Thats nothing new though.
LUKE
She said it was the most realistic
game shed ever played.
DYLAN
Whos Amie?
Luke drops his head. Dylan rolls her eyes.
DYLAN
I dont suppose you have the manual
that came with this thing either?
Luke shakes his head.
BO HAN
Manual? Who uses the manual?
DYLAN
I do. Its easier to break the
rules when you know what they are
first.
Bo Han puts his hands up in surrender.
DYLAN
Whatever, lets start this thing.
Dylan looks at the screen and sees a DOS command prompt.
ON SCREEN - "ENTER COMMAND KEY:\_"
DYLAN
Do we have a command key?
Luke opens up the Jewel Case the CD had been in and pulls
out a folded piece of graph paper.

DYLAN

password!
Keys clack as Dylan types in the password and hits enter.
Suddenly an insane amount of white cryptic text scrolls
through the screen; then returns to black.
ON SCREEN - "SELECT COMBAT UNIT - 1. Big League 2. Spearmint
3. Eclipse 4. Orbit 5. Five"
DYLAN
I thought you said this was a
shooter, not a text adventure.
Bo leans over to Luke who is watching Dylans screen.
BO HAN
You want me to record all of this?
Luke nods his head.
LUKE
And make sure no one is recording
us.
Dylan rolls her eyes and hits a button.
ON SCREEN - "COMBAT UNIT IN USE, SELECT ALTERNATIVE"
With a huff, Dylan selects another number, but gets the same
text and annoying beep, again...
And again...
ON SCREEN - "COMBAT UNIT IN USE"
DYLAN
Last try guys.
Dylan hits the 5 key on the numeric pad and enter.
ON SCREEN - "Arming Combat Unit: Stand by for Rapid

INT. AFGHANISTAN - MC-130 COMBAT TALON - EARLY MORNING

FIVES P.O.V. - Slowly fading in from a blinding white
light, there is an overwhelming sound of rushing wind as the
cargo bay door of a large aircraft opens up.
TSGT. BRIGGS (O.S.)
Master Sergeant, Sir.
SMSGT. OSMON (O.S.)
What is it Tech. Sergeant?
TSGT. BRIGGS (O.S.)
This other one is waking up.
FIVES P.O.V. - Suddenly, a young AIRMAN (Tech Sergeant
Briggs, 21) steps into view. He flips furiously through a
stack of papers attached to a clip board.
TSGT. BRIGGS
Theres nothing on the books that
says Five is going to be deployed.
FIVES P.O.V. - Striding behind the young sergeant is a
PORTLY AIRMAN (Senior Master Sergeant Osmon, 37) looking
over his subordinates shoulder. He lifts his aviator
shades.
SMSGT. OSMON
These spooks from DC want to use
our gear to send their toys into
the battlefield, but they dont
want to tell us what the hell is
going on. Same ole bullshit.
TSGT. BRIGGS
Yes sir. Do we send it in?
SMSGT. OSMON
Were not breaking radio silence.
If its on, they must want it down.
Boot it up and boot it out.
TSGT. BRIGGS
Yes sir.
FIVES P.O.V. - Suddenly, as if being rotated on a Lazy
Susan on a conveyor belt, the edge of the aircraft gets
closer and closer.
TGST. BRIGGS (O.S.)

EXT. BO HAN DOJO - SAME- NIGHT
Dylans eyes are beaming at the screen.
DYLAN
Was that a cut-scene? I thought I
was watching a movie. Freakin.
Awesome.
On Dylans center screen a red warning light flashes along
with the sound of a SONAR PING.
EXT. AFGHANISTAN - SAME - DAY
FIVES P.O.V. - Still falling toward the ground at an
alarming rate, a red flashing banner fades into view: "Press
P to deploy parachute at 2,000 feet."
INT. BO HAN DOJO - SAME
Dylan watches the screen. An altimeter in the upper right
hand corner of the rightmost screen counts down.
At the sounding of another sonar PING, Dylans finger
presses the P button.
EXT. AFGHANISTAN - SAME
FIVES P.O.V. - Jerked backward, the descent down to the
ground is slowed some. The view of the sky is blocked by a
parachute unfurling and blooming.
FIVES P.O.V. - As the ground quickly approaches, a small
village of sandstone and scrap metal comes into view.
FIVES P.O.V. - Heralded by a heavy metallic THUD: Five has
touchdown.
INT. BO HAN DOJO - SAME

Luke watching the laptop screen.

of her character as it moves through the desert landscape.
She suddenly stops at the sound of another SONAR ping,
followed by a text message scrolling up the center of the
right most screen.
ON SCREEN - "Big League: All units, proceed to rally point,
engage on my mark."
Dylan looks to her left monitor where a map of the area pops
up, and a red dot pulses. Three other letters B, S, E, also
appear and begin to converge on the rally point.
EXT. AFGHANISTAN - SAME
FIVES P.O.V. - Running at an incredible rate, the distance
between the landing zone and the largest of the sandstone
and metal structures is quickly closed.
FIVES P.O.V. - Another PING followed by a message flashes

SUPERIMPOSE - "Big League: Prepare to breach; 3... 2..."
FIVES P.O.V. - An EXPLOSION rings out from somewhere inside
the house. Many VOICES begin yelling in PASHTO.
DYLAN (V.O.)
Weapons, weapons, need the buttons

BO HAN (V.O.)
Try the number keys.
FIVES P.O.V. - With a quick jerk forward, a large hole is
made in the sandstone wall.
INT. AFGHANISTAN - REBEL HIDEOUT - CONTINUOUS

suddenly appear being cradled by plastic manikin-like hands
surrounded by a metal exoskeleton; an ax, Colt .45 pistol,
M4-A1 Carbine rifle, M79 Grenade Launcher, and finally
something that looks like a harpoon gun.
BO HAN (V.O.)
Go back to the Assault Rifle.
LUKE (V.O.)
Shut up and let her play.

INT. BO HAN DOJO - SAME
Dylan cracks her knuckles and places her hands back on the

INT. AFGHANISTAN - REBEL HIDEOUT - SAME
FIVES P.O.V. - As one would expect a highly trained Navy
Seal to act, one by one, the shadowy figures of MEN are
taken out with expert marksmanship. Crouching from cover, to
cover, we slowly advance upon the back door of the house.
More VOICES OF MEN are shouting.
SUPERIMPOSE - "Big League: All units, frag out!"
FIVES P.O.V. - Running backwards away from the back door of
the hideout leaves only seconds between safety and being
engulfed by a fiery grenade blast.

EXT. AFGHANISTAN - REBEL HIDEOUT - SAME
FIVES P.O.V. - Stepping outside the sandstone building

tanker. The truck zooms forward out onto an nearly unseen
desert road.
SUPERIMPOSE - "Big League: Anybody got eyes on Five?
Unidentified user, state your name and rank immediately."
LUKE (V.O.)
DONT TELL THEM WHO YOU ARE!
INT. BO HAN DOJO - SAME
Luke has jumped up from his chair and over toward Dylan.
Hes about to pull the keyboard out from Dylan, but she
shoves him back.
DYLAN
You think I was born yesterday?
Dylan looks Luke over.
Luke is sweating bullets and is clearly distressed.
DYLAN
Just relax would you?
BO HAN
Let the Lady work.

FIVES P.O.V. - The semi-truck and tanker have nearly

the truck is within sight. Still in hot pursuit, robot hands
change out the M4 rifle for the grenade launcher. Despite
running after a speeding truck, steady robot hands aim their
weapon on target.
DYLAN (V.O.)
Like fish in a barrel.
FIVES P.O.V. - With a bright FLASH the tanker is
OBLITERATED! Slowing to a jog, metallic debris fly in all
directions as the cab of the truck flips end over end. After
several rotations, the truck eventually buries itself upside
down in the sand.
ORBITS P.O.V. - From an aerial view of the battlefield,
zooming in with active illumination, the wreckage of the
tanker truck is devastating. Approaching the drivers side
door, a HUMAN LIKE FIGURE (Five) approaches with weapon
drawn.
FIVES P.O.V. - Switching from the grenade launcher to the
Colt .45 handgun, sights are lined up onto a MAN (Al Hazar,
45) crawling out of the truck cabin.
FIVES P.O.V. - The man is scared and bloodied. He tries to
claw his way out from the drivers seat onto the sand.
INT. BO HAN DOJO - SAME
On the computer monitor, Al Hazar strains to lift his head
up looking at Dylan. His eyes are bloodshot,
Dylan looks over to the left side monitor.
A detailed profile of Al Hazar appears next to his mugshot.
DYLAN
Game over.
With two clicks of her mouse, SHOTS are fired.
EXT. AFGHANISTAN - SAME - DAY
FIVES P.O.V. - Standing over a slain Al Hazar, a sharp wind
blows sand over the corpse.
SUPERIMPOSE - "Orbit: Attention all combat units; neutralize
unit Five, then converge at extraction zone for sky-hook."
SUPERIMPOSE - "Eclipse: Five in sight, tango down."

INT. BO HAN DOJO - SAME
Dylans central monitors suddenly go black, except for a
running time code in the upper right hand corner.
DYLAN
Thats it? Thats the game?
Thats... very anticlimactic.
Looking over to Bo Han and Luke, Dylan frowns in response to
the boys complete disinterest and infatuation with Bos
laptop screen.
DYLAN
Is that it then? Can we go home?
Standing up from her chair impatiently, Dylan storms over to
Luke and Bo.
DYLAN
What are you two geeks looking at
thats so important?
Dylan looks over the two boys shoulders to the laptop
screen. On the laptop screen is nothing but a bunch of HTML
coding.
DYLAN
Luke, can we go now?
LUKE
(To Bo)
Is there any sign of her?
BO HAN
I got nothing.
(To himself)
Oh? What are you doing in there?
LUKE
What is it?
Tapping Lukes shoulder, Dylan tries again.
DYLAN
Hey LAG, this is boring now, and
Im going home.
BO HAN
Uh oh. This is... interesting.
On Bos laptop, the HTML code begins to rapidly change and
alter itselfs. Bo begins typing more aggressively.

Do you want me to do my job or not?
DYLAN
Guys, seriously, Im done.
Luke springs up out of his seat and strides over to the
server closet. Bo does a double take before running after
him.
BO HAN
Those buttons arent toys; dont
touch, Gaijin.
Dylan watches Bo and Luke struggle over the master switch;
grappling, pulling, and wrestling eventually results in Luke
breaking free from Bos hold.
As Luke pulls the power, the whole Dojo shuts down: lights
out.
EXT. BENT TRAIL SWIM CLUB - LATER
Luke is riding like a bat out of hell as he jumps the curb
out of the swim club parking lot, and into the streets. A
short distance behind him Dylan slams on her breaks before
hopping the curb.
The SQUEALING tires behind him causes Luke to stop and look
back at his step-sister.

and Im going to find her if it

Dylan is shell shocked.
Luke is on the verge of tears; his lip is quivering, and
fists are clenched.
DYLAN
What happened to her?
Dylan walks her bike toward Luke, but he turns back to his
own bike. Preemptively whipping his eyes with his fists, he

She called me last night; we were
both going to play a copy of the
game, the same one you just played.
My computer wouldnt load the disc,
so I listened while she played-- I
listened as they took her.
Luke tries to pick up his bike from the street, but its
somehow heavier with the memory of Amie.
DYLAN
They?
LUKE
I dont know who-- it was more than
one. The last thing I heard from
Amie-- "Im scared, and I dont
want to die."
Grabbing the other side of the handle bar, Dylan helps Luke
pick up his bike. Looking Dylan in the face, Lukes eyes are
blood red and watering. He continues-

DYLAN
I want to see the house, tomorrow,
after the Y.
Luke nods, and the two continue to walk their bikes back
home.
EXT./INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - BACKYARD / KITCHEN (LATER)
Sneaking in through the backyard, Dylan is carefully and
quietly unlacing her shoes. Luke, with far less stealth
walks past her and slides open the glass door with all the
subtly of an average teenage boy.
DYLAN
(Stage whisper)
Luke!
Luke flips the kitchen lights on.
LUKE
Whats the problem?
COL. YATES (O.S.)
Where are you two coming in from
this late?
Dylan snaps to attention. Luke stands with the posture of an
average teenage boy, and keeps his head down.
DYLAN

COL. YATES

Dylan salutes, and marches past Luke and her father. She

Dylan knows whats coming; she halts, pivots, and hangs her
head.
COL. YATES

Solemnly removing her Game Boy Color from her holster, Dylan

YMCA, Dylan stares out the rear view window in the far back
seat. When the land cruiser jerks to another sudden stop,
Dylan unlatches and opens the rear window.
JILL
Were not there yet, Dylan.
DYLAN
Were close enough.
Climbing out of the back, Dylan closes the window behind her
before hopping off the back of the rear bumper onto the
pavement.
Walking through cars inching their way through the line,
Dylan heads straight for the Gym entrance.
EXT. RICHARDSON FAMILY YMCA - SOCCER FIELD - LATER
Dylan is sitting beside Holly on the side lines while
CAMPERS run across the field playing capture the flag.
Absentmindedly, Dylan scratches at her empty holster.
Holly glances away from her copy of Bitch Magazine to notice
Dylan scratching at her holster.
HOLLY
Its empty today? I thought that
thing was bolted onto you.
DYLAN
Unfortunately not. One of the
step-brothers cost me a weeks

Maybe.
HOLLY
Oh my God, are you serious?
DYLAN
I dont know, Im going to check

HOLLY
I mean your brother, he seriously

DYLAN
Hold that disgusting thought for a

Dylan whistles at the YOUNG BOY (9) guarding the flag. With
a confused and annoyed look on his face he turns to Dylan.
DYLAN
Can I see that?
YOUNG BOY
See what?

Holly and Dylan are both sitting right on the dividing line
of the field. Waving the flag above her head in little
circles, Dylan replies with a satisfied smile.
DYLAN
Im actually playing a game of my
own.
ISABELLA (O.S.)
Who took our flag?
Dylan waves the flag in little circles above her head.
Isabella scans the field until she sees Dylan and Holly. Her
eyes narrow and she scowls with teeth bared.
Councilor Brad blows an unnecessarily long blow on his
whistle.
COUNCILOR BRAD
That doesnt count. You cant
pretend not to play in order to
capture the flag; thats cheating.
DYLAN
Thats strategy. You know, its
that thing we do that makes you
look stupid.
COUNCILOR BRAD
What was that?
Dylan shrugs and walks off the field with Holly following
after. Nearly off the field, Holly speaks her mind.
HOLLY
Youre not typically one to

beat the crap out of you.
DYLAN
Im not provoking, Im testing

Holly holds the girls bathroom door open for Dylan.
HOLLY
So what are you planning?
Dylan flashes Holly a rye smirk, and enters the restroom.

Sliding up without a sound, Dylan has her long hair tied

the slanted roof. Steadily, she presses her body face first
against the tiles and moves her self around to the side of
the house.
EXT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - SIDE YARD - MOMENTS LATER
With a muffled scream, Dylan comes sliding off the kitchen
roof and on top of the plastic garbage bins.
EXT. WINDBREAK TRAIL - MOMENTS LATER

makes her way up the street and disappears into the night.
Her legs clothed in acid-white washed jeans pump harder and

EXT. STONEBRIAR MALL - LATER

Walking up to the bike rack, Dylan grits her teeth when she

worldview.
FADE TO WHITE:

EXT. TEXAS - PLANO - AFTERNOON
Walking north along Preston Road, the tree lined sidewalk
does nothing to shield Dylan and Luke from the oppressive
summer sun. The vast flat and empty fields between shopping
centers gives the illusion that it would take an eternity to
traverse, but they keep walking anyway.

43.

EXT. RANCHERO PRIVATE ESTATES - LATER

As they walk through the sidewalks and pass estates that
range from gargantuan to the size of an average community
college, Dylan all of a sudden finds herself in the midst of
a giggle fit.
Luke rolls his eyes.
LUKE
Whats with you?
DYLAN
Have you ever heard of the
Winchester Rifle?
LUKE
No.
DYLAN
Really? A Texas boy never heard of
the gun that won the west?
Whatever. After the son of the guy
who manufactured the rifles died,
his window went balls out insane.
She moved out to where I used to
live near San Jose and built this
ridiculous house, and kept
building, and building.
LUKE
Rich people do that sometimes.
DYLAN
Yeah, well she thought she was
being haunted by the ghosts of
anyone ever killed by a Winchester
Rifle, and they all needed a place
to rest or else theyd never leave
her alone.
LUKE
That is pretty insane. Id imagine
thatd be a shit ton of ghosts and
just as many rooms too. Whats your
point?
Dylan stops and points to the house on her right?
DYLAN

Sure enough, behind a six foot wrought iron fence wrapping

around what could be mistaken for the Overlook Hotel, is a
house of equal size and intimidating presence.
Dylan looks over to Luke; his eyes have grown sad and his
hands begin to shake.
DYLAN
Thats the house isnt it?
Luke nods.
LUKE
I just couldnt get here fast
enough.
DYLAN
Hey, its not over yet. Maybe
theres something, like a clue orAs Dylan takes a step forward, shes yanked backward by
Luke. Before Dylan can take a swing at her step-brother, he
points back towards the mansion.
LUKE
Theres still cops watching over
the place.
Sure enough, sitting at the head of the driveway, an all
black Crown Victoria idles. Two jar head COPS with aviator
shades talk among themselves and drink bottled water.
DYLAN (O.S.)
Probably making sure no one breaks
in. Like us.
LUKE
Break in?
DYLAN
I didnt walk all the way out here
for nothing.
LUKE
You said you just wanted to look.
DYLAN
And now I want a closer look.
Dylan is still starring at the cops. Her eyes narrow.

LUKE
Whoever took Amie arent there
anymore, and neither is she.
DYLAN
Sure, but they may have left
something behind, something that
might let us know who these people
are. You wanna find em, right?
Scanning the fence, Dylan searches for an entry point.
DYLAN
We need to get inside.
EXT. KOBAYASHI RESIDENCE - MOMENTS LATER
Dylan drops down from a tree branch hanging over the fence
of the backyard. Running across the grass the span of a pro
soccer field, Dylan heads for the house followed closely by
Luke.
Pushing up against the side of the house, Dylan carefully
unlatches the screen on the window.
INT. KOBAYASHI RESIDENCE - GUEST BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS
Stepping in through the window, Dylan replaces the screen
after Luke tumbles in and onto the carpet.
DYLAN
That whole puberty thing is doing
nothing for your coordination is
it?
Dylan turns expecting a witty comeback, but Lukes eyes are
transfixed on the ransacked room.
The bed has been flipped over on its side; mattress gutted
like a dolphin. The desk and dresser has been hacked to bits
and the furniture have been meticulously disassembled.
Trying to play down her steadily growing fear, Dylan taps
Luke.
DYLAN
Lets start with Amies room.
LUKE
Second floor.
Dylan nods, and heads out the door in front of Luke.

46.

INT. KOBAYASHI RESIDENCE - HALLWAY- CONTINUOUS

Dylans worn converse shoes make hardly any sound on the
wood floor as she creeps forward. Her eyes dart back and
forth from guest room to guest room; each thoroughly
destroyed as the first room they entered.
INT. KOBAYASHI RESIDENCE - KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS
Stopping before entering a kitchen that looks as if it were
raped by a hurricane, Dylan turns to Luke and whispers in
angerDYLAN
Could you possibly make any more
noise? Whats on you thats
beeping?
Luke is about to answer, but Dylans eyes catch sight of the
source of the light persistent BEEPING.
On the side of the kitchen wall is HOME SECURITY PANEL.
Before either youth can react, the sound of the front door
BURSTING open and heavy boots pounding on the tile foyer
cause them to freeze.
OFFICER #1 (O.S.)
David-12 to control, responding to
possible break in to the Kobayashi
house. Checking motion alarm now.
As the officer approaches the kitchen, Dylan grabs Luke by
the shoulder and leads him around the corner moments before
THE OFFICER enters the kitchen.
RADIO (V.O.)
Copy David-12, can you 10-71?
OFFICER #1
One of the guest room windows had
been forced open from the outside.
Requesting back up.
RADIO (V.O.)
Copy David-12, sending units to
your location.
Another set of boots can be heard running through the
entryway to the kitchen while Dylan and Luke hold their
breath and push themselves up against the wall.

OFFICER #2 (O.S.)
Whats the situation?
OFFICER #1
Possible break in, guest room, west
wing, lets go.
The police officers head down the hall. Luke tries to make a
break for it but Dylan holds him back.
DYLAN
We only get one shot at this, so if
you want it, let me lead.
Luke scowls, but lets his sister lead. They both round the
side of the wall which wraps around to the main foyer, and
they quickly bound up the stairwell. Unfortunately for them
both, the stairs CREAK something fierce.
Dylan continues to push on as she hears the officers coming
back up the hall toward the stairs.
OFFICER #1 (O.S.)
Theyre going up stairs!
Before they can reach the end of the hall, Luke pulls Dylan
into one of the guest rooms. As soon as the two youths dive
into the room, the two officers reach the top of the stairs;
guns drawn.
INT. KOBAYASHI RESIDENCE - AMIES BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS
Luke immediately runs into the walk-in closet and burrows
under the piles of clothes and debris of dismantled
furniture. Dylan has a momentary bout of panic as she
listens to the officers footsteps approaching.
One by one, the sound of guest room doors are swung open
leading up to where Dylan currently stands. Stealing her
nerves, Dylan hurries to the attached bathroom and shuts the
door.
There is hardly any light. The girl feels her way into the
shower, and enters.
Laying down as flat as she can and pushing herself up
against the curb of the shower, Dylan reaches up and slides
the frosted glass partition closed.
She covers her mouth with her hands.
She keeps her eyes shut.

OFFICER #1 (O.S.)
Bathroom clear.
OFFICER #2 (O.S.)
Bedroom clear. Moving up.
The officer leaves, but Dylan still cant exhale. Shes
trying to gasp for breath but cant. Her hands tremble. In
one quick movement, Dylan makes a determined effort to
stand.
At the moment Dylan gets back on her feet, the bathroom door
flies open. Startled, Dylan slips backwards; covering her
mouth with one hand and trying to hold on to something with
the other.
Dylan catches hold of a railing, but it moves, and her
descent to the shower floor is unimpeded.
Standing in the entrance of the bathroom Luke tries to catch
his sister before she falls, but fails.
LUKE
Its just me.
DYLAN
Of course its just you. Why the
hell would you- Whats wrong?
Still on the floor, Dylan follows Lukes gaze. Apparently
the rail she had grasped was the door handle to a room
behind the shower: a sauna.
INT. AMIES BATHROOM - SAUNA - CONTINUOUS
Out of all the other rooms in the house, this Sauna remains
the only one that wasnt disturbed. The wooden bench is
intact, the towels on the end table remain perfectly folded.
DYLAN
Everything else was wrecked except
the one secret room. But what kinda
secret do you keep in a secret
room?
LUKE
The remains of her computer were in
the closet. Whoever they are,

LUKE
Well yeah, her dad was one of the
game designers. She only had a copy
of the original game, and gave me-Dylan is examining the bench, the towels, and the coal pit.
LUKE
They were searching for my copy.
(Beat)
Its my fault.
Lost in thought, Dylan continues to look at the coal pit. An
empty bag of coals sits beside the pit, and fresh coals are
all dumped upon the top of the pit.
DYLAN
They dont have the manual.
LUKE
What?
Dylan carefully taps her hands on the coals: not hot at all.
Plunging her hands into the coals, she paws to the bottom of
the pile.
DYLAN
They werent just looking for a
copy of the game; they were looking
for the game manual.
Withdrawing her hands from the coal pit, Dylan removes an
inch and a half thick black binder with pink text written on
the spine: BUBBLE GUM BOUNTY HUNTER.
Downstairs, the sound of the front door opening and MANY
MORE OFFICERS entering the foyer can be heard.
DYLAN
Time to go.

50.

INT. AMIES BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Dylan and Luke both creep out of the bathroom and into the
bedroom. The sudden sound of crunching glass causes Dylan to
spin around and ready to slap her brother.
She pauses.
Under Lukes feet is a broken frame of a young ASIAN GIRL;
Amie Kobyashi age 13. Looking up to her brothers face, she
has a moment of compassion for Luke.
DYLAN
We havent lost yet, okay? They
havent beaten us yet.
INT. SECOND FLOOR WEST HALLWAY -CONTINUOUS
Peering down the hallway, Dylan checks to see that the coast
is clear. After a moments silence, both Dylan and Luke
sprint down the hallway toward the master bedroom.
OFFICER #2 (O.S.)
Weve got movement upstairs.
OFFICER #1 (O.S.)
Lets move!
Dylan has the notebook tucked under her arm as she runs into
the master bedroom.
Luke carries a hand full of sheets following after her.
EXT. KOBAYASHI RESIDENCE - BACKYARD - MOMENTS LATER
From out of the window, a chair comes flying through the
glass along with a line of rope made of sheets.
Quickly repelling out and over the windowsill, comes Dylan,
followed shortly thereafter by Luke.
As both youths are about halfway down the side of the
building TWO COPS lean out the window; the first leans into
his radio.
OFFICER #1
Two suspects on foot, climbing down
to the backyard.
Dylan reaches the end of her rope. She lets go of the sheets
and drops five feet down to the brick pool deck. Scrambling
to her feet, she doesnt wait to see if Luke is behind her.

Running straight towards the far end of the backyard is like

running the length of two football fields.
Only one arm pumps in time with her stride, the other
cradles the game manual.
Suddenly, her foot catches.
Dylan goes tumbling head over foot. The sound of footsteps
and panting breath closing in behind her grow louder. As she
tries to claw her way back up on her feet, Luke comes up
from behind and helps her up.
The two continue to run until they reach the fence. With
Lukes help, Dylan awkwardly climbs up and over the gate and
falls over the other side.
Luke lands beside her and again helps her up to her feet
before they take off into a wooded park. The cops are still
close behind.
EXT. LAKESIDE COMMUNITY PARK - SAME
Running over the perfectly manicured grass, Dylan and Luke
head deeper into the park to avoid the police in hot
pursuit.
OFFICER #2 (O.S.)
Police, get down on the ground,
now!
Dylan and Luke make their way down a sharp embankment
towards a brook. Eventually the sound of a few officer
trickles down to one. The youths continue into the brook,
wading across waist high waters towards the other side.
With sopping wet shoes gathering mud and grass, Dylan
continues to drive forward.
The young girl takes fast, short breaths.
Her legs continue to take their long strides.
Terrified eyes are locked forward, as Dylans ears hear the
officerss radio grow fainter in the background.
EXT. SILVER LAKE DRIVE - LATER
A black and white patrol car cruises down the street,
windows rolled down, and TWO OFFICERS scanning the streets.
As the car drives past, Dylan and Luke emerge from behind a
bush and make a run for it.

52.

The distance the pair of youths have to run through the

streets seems too long to be exposed out in the open. Still,
they run.
EXT. SILVER LAKE COMMUNITY POOL - LATER
Flinging herself over the top of the fence, Dylan lands down
on the concrete pool deck. Luke follows after.
The community pool is vacant, and the water is still.
At the sound of another car passing, the two press
themselves down onto the concrete as flat as possible.
Another patrol car continues to drive by, slowly.
DYLAN
There.
Luke follows Dylans finger, and they move as quickly
crouched down until they make it to the restrooms, beside
which is a used and faded payphone.
Dylan lays down on her back, winded.
DYLAN
Call my dad.
Luke drops his change into the payphone.
LUKE
Im not calling your dad. Hes
going to ask too many questions.
DYLAN
Questions like, what are you doing
breaking and entering? Why are we
running from the cops?
Dylan pushes herself back up against the wall.
DYLAN
Why would someone get kidnapped
over a video game?
LUKE
Quiet, the line is ringing.
DYLAN
You think Nintendo would just sue
someone if they stole a copy of
Super Mario twelve or something;
they wouldnt abduct people.

(To Dylan)
He wants to talk to you.
Dylan raises an eyebrow and takes the receiver.
DYLAN
Hello?
BO HAN (V.O.)
Good afternoon Lady Day, I
understand you are having
difficulties.
INT. LAKE SIDE COMMUNITY POOL - LATE AFTERNOON
Dylan and Luke still have their backs up against the wall of
the restrooms. Both of them sink lower at the sound of
another car pulling up around the side of the pool.
Sure enough, ANOTHER cop car cruises by slowly like a shark
through shallow water; its passenger spot light scanning
side to side.
DYLAN
I want to say I could have walked
home by now, but I cant.
Another bout of panic grips the two youths at the sound of
another car.
Dylan looks through the pool fence: a WHITE TOYOTA pickup
truck idles out in front. From the drivers side, Bo Han
emerges out the window and begins to honk the horn.
With the last of her strength, Dylan leaps to her feet;
running with a stagger out the pool entrance and towards the
car.
DYLAN
Stop honking you dumb shit!
Bo Han frowns and begins to drive forward. Dylan chases
after but collapses.

Bo Han eases forward, then stops.
LUKE
Were sorry! PleaseBO HAN
Fine, fine, get in the back.
Dylan and Luke quickly climb up and over into the bed of the
truck just as a police car swings around the corner. Bo Han
pulls forward ahead of the officer.
EXT./INT. LAKE SIDE ESTATES - BO HANS TRUCK - CONTINUOUS
Looking up in his rear-view mirror, Bo Han glances away from
the police car tailing him. He calls over his shoulderBO HAN
Keep your heads down.
Lying flat on her back in the bed of the truck beside Luke,
Dylan covers her mouth with both hands, and shuts her eyes.
Approaching the stoplight at the edge of the community, the
police car pulls up alongside Bo Han. Deep breath in, deep
breath out, Bo Han keeps his eyes on the light.
The officer in the car beside them glances over to Bo.
The light turns green.
Easing forward, Bo looks in his side view mirror as the cop
does a U-Turn back into the estate community.

55.

EXT./INT. WINDBREAK TRAIL - BO HANS TRUCK - LATER

As Bo Hans truck continues down the winding suburban
streets, the gathering clouds begin to give way to rain.
DYLAN
So?
LUKE
So?
DYLAN
Its just a game, why the
kidnapping? Why the cops?
LUKE
I dont care about the game, I just
want to find Amie.
Dylan, still clutching the black binder, slides forward as
the truck comes to a stop.
EXT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - DRIVEWAY - BO HANS TRUCK - SAME
Bo Han slaps both his hands down on the tailgate.
BO HAN
Free ride is over, out you go
Gaijin.
LUKE
Gaijin? We live here. Arent you
Korean?
BO HAN
I was born a year and three months
before you, here, in Texas. I was
here first.
Dylan and Luke jump out of the back of the truck as the rain
starts to come down harder. Instinctively, Dylan puts the
binder up over her head to shield her from the rain.
Bo Han looks over to Dylan and up at the up the binder.
BO HAN
What. Is. That?
Dylan keeps walking.

game we played last night.

you do alone in your Dojo.
Goodnight.
BO HAN
You have to let me look at that
manual.
LUKE
Goodnight, Bo.
BO HAN
What if theres a clue to finding
your Amie?
Luke halts under the eve of the doorstep. Before he can say
anything, Dylans father swings open the door.
COL. YATES
What are you two doing out in the
rain? Get in here.
Luke looks from Col. Yates back to Bo standing in the rain.
LUKE
Colonel Yates, this is Bo Han, he
was going to hang out with me this
afternoon.
COL. YATES
Is that so?
Colonel Yates yells back into the house.
COL. YATES
Jill, do you know anything about a
Bo Han coming over?

57.
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - FAMILY ROOM - SAME
Jill is on the couch still in her business suit pouring over
paper work. She raises her arms up in the air.
JILL
As long as whoever it is doesnt
bother my work, its fine.
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - SECOND FLOOR - SAME
Luke climbs the stairs to his bedroom followed by Dylan and
Bo.
DYLAN
Stairs. I dont want to see stairs
ever again.
BO HAN
What exactly did you two do anyway?
LUKE
Something we shouldnt have.
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - LUKES ROOM - SAME
Lukes room is like the inside of a computer sweatshop if it
were hit by a hurricane.
Stepping carefully on the bare patches of floor not covered
by electronics or dirty clothes, Dylan makes her way to the
only clean place: the bed.
Bo Han attempts to sit down next to Dylan, but her death
stare encourages him to sit on the opposite side.
Luke spins around in his office chair.
DYLAN
So this is what happens to a Radio
Shack when its hit by a tornado
and teenage neglect.
LUKE
This next part requires reading,
not pushing buttons, so youre free
to go now, thanks.

increasingly disappointed as he flips through the pages.
Eventually, Luke tosses the binder over to Bo Han.
LUKE
This might be up your alley.
Bo Han paws at the manual and flips through it laughing.
BO HAN
Are you kidding me?
LUKE
You cant read that?
Bo Han tosses the manual back.
BO HAN
Im Korean, everything in there is
Japanese, stupid Gaijin.
Dylan takes the binder and opens it up as Luke and Bo argue.
Sure enough the text is all in Japanese, except for the logo
at the bottom of the page: A white gloved hand with strings
around its fingers, alternating between red and white. Each
string is attached to the body of a navy blue manikin with a
rifle in hand and a white star over its eye.
The text at the bottom of the logo reads: Airiel
Telegraphic.

Bo takes the binder from Dylan.

Bo Han rotates the monitor over to Dylan and waves his hands

The trio seem to be at a loss, sitting back and mentally
forcing an answer to materialize in the middle of the room:
it doesnt.
Luke is thumbing through the pages, scanning the pages with
eyes full of fury and rage. As he turns the last page, he
throws the book across the room.
EXT. RICHARDSON FAMILY YMCA - AFTERNOON
Dylan dives down behind an inflatable barricade as several
bullets go WHISTLING over her head.
Wearing a black paintball mask, a tan tank top and torn
black jeans, Dylan is also covered head to toe in mud and
dirt. Pressing herself into the ground, the young girl
crawls hand over hand.
One hand claws at the dirt, the other holds a paintball gun.
On the far end of a makeshift arena, with large plastic
canvas sides set up to encase the soccer field, Dylan crawls
to the other end of one of the many inflatable barricades.
CAMPERS sitting on metal bleachers cheer as they watch those
inside the arena gun each other down.
Dylan keeps her head down as she lines up her shot.

Get Dylan! Shes over there, get
her!

Dylans face, as she looks into her weapons scope.

Andrew has a dark mop cut hanging over his face mask
obscuring his view.
CAMPER #1 (O.S.)
Shoot her, Andrew!
Dylan rolls over on to her side and sits up firing two shots
into Andrews face mask before he can get his bangs out of
his face. Before Dylan can revel in her victory, several
POPS ring out.
Raising her gun above her head Dylan stands up and walks off
the battlefield. Before she leaves, theres another POP.
Dylan turns around after Isabella shots her again in the
back.
COUNCILOR BRAD (O.S.)
Isabella, no late hits; youre out!
Dylan levels her gun at Isabella.
COUNCILOR BRAD (O.S.)

Andrew stands before the two girls with a cocky adolescent

Dylan nods keeping her eyes locked on Andrew.
ANDREW

Rolling her hand over palm face up, Dylan keeps her hand
close to her; daring Andrew come to her.
Taking a timid step forward Andrews preteen confidence has
fallen. He writes on Dylans forearm in a manner that
suggests hes still afraid of contracting cooties.
Dylan rolls her arm over and examines the number with
indifference.
DYLAN
Was there anything else?
ANDREW
Um, no. Thanks.
Dylan nods, still staring Andrew down as he runs after
Isabella heading towards the gym.
HOLLY
How did you do that? Teach me now.

Dylan walks in through the garage, through the laundry room,

Texas Rangers game, Col. Yates calls out over his shoulderCOL. YATES
How was the Y?
DYLAN
Horrendous. Do we own a phone book?
COL. YATES
Dont you use a computer for that

DYLAN
You would think.
Turning off the television, Col. Yates stands and walks over

COL. YATES

Directly ahead of Dylan at the other end of the food court:
Tilt Arcade.
COL. YATES
Fifteen minutes, young lady.
Dylan stands up and salutes her father.
COL. YATES
And watch after your brothers.
DYLAN
What?
Mark and Matthew spring from their seats and immediately run
towards the arcade.
COL. YATES

Dylan does an about face and marches off to the arcade

Dylan makes a B-line for the back counter. She passes by
Nathan repairing a flight simulator.
NATHAN

Tom raises an eyebrow and gestures to the phone number on
Dylans arm.
DYLAN
Its not. I forgot it was even
there.
TOM
Sure.
DYLAN
My older brother and I are working
on something. Trying to find this
game company; a secret game company
as it turns out.
TOM
Game company? You dont want a
phone book, you want my address

DYLAN
Great, Ill take it.
Tom slides the book over and Dylan thumbs through it.
TOM
When I had my own arcade back in
Oregon, I had the listing of every
major vendor. Who ya looking for?
Dylan finishes writing down the number.
DYLAN
Theyre called Airiel Telegraphic.
Tom slowly closes the book.

older brothers girlfriend.
Dylan tries to read Toms face; hes mortified.
DYLAN
(Nervous laugh)
Thats actually pretty stupid
saying it out loud though. Right?
Tom is still motionless.
DYLAN
Can I borrow youre phone?
TOM
Sorry, I-- thats probably not such
a good idea.
DYLAN
Ill be quick.
TOM
Are you calling Airiel Telegraphic?
DYLAN
Yes.
TOM
Then thats not a call Im

WILSON
If it aint the champion of the
arcade, D.A.Y.
MARK
Champion? Thats just my
step-sister, jerk. Now give me back
my quarters.
DYLAN
Really, bullying kids for their
lunch money? Shouldnt you get back
to the after school special you
escaped from?
WILSON
I beat this kid fair and square.
MARK
No, he was just spamming the same
move the whole time.
Dylan continues to give Wilson the death stare, but he rolls
his eyes impassively. Tilting her head to the side, Dylan
calls out.
DYLAN
Nathan.
Nathan jogs up to the others.
NATHAN
(Off Wilson)
You really want your ass handed to

WILSON
Her initials arent on this one.

Wrenching the quarters out of Wilsons hands, she hands them

Col. Yates raises a skeptical eyebrow.

Dylan is caught off guard, and looks momentarily concerned.
BO HAN

Bo Han gestures to Dylan who grimaces while wiping off the

Half way across the pool, Dylan stops and considers Bos

lines of code stream across a global map, dummy phone

DYLAN

Tapping her nails on the desk, Bo Han looks from his work to
Dylans hands.
BO HAN

DYLAN
About what?
BO HAN
My cousin owns a salon in Dallas.
DYLAN
Get bent, Bo Han. Are we going to

BO HAN
Yeah, youre good now; theyll
think were calling from Okinawa.
DYLAN
And why is that? Where is that?
BO HAN
Because if this is a shady, video
game company thats abducting
people, Id rather they think were

Dylan rolls her eyes and dials the number. After three rings
on the speaker phone, a female robotic voices answers.

Bo Han is knocked backwards off his seat. Dylan dives to the
floor.
With her heart rate thrown through the roof, Dylan looks
from a motionless Bo Han over toward the bullet hole in the
window.
Her eyes scan back to Bos corpse, then to the window; an
intimidating figure approaches in the distance.
Jogging out from the pine on the far side of the golf course
towards the house is what appears to be a TALL MAN holding a
very large rifle.

78.

Quickly, Dylan army crawls across the floor towards the

door.
EXT. BO HAN DOJO - SAME
Throwing open the door, Dylan scrambles up from a prone
position and sprints forward. Picking up her bike, Dylan is
about to pedal forward when Bos guest house explodes behind
her.
The blast sends the young girls body, along with the bike,
flying forward into the pool like a rag doll.
Under the water, Dylan pushes off from the pool floor and
resurfaces only long enough to grab a lung full of air.
Diving back down, Dylan swims to the end of the pool.
Still submerged, Dylan looks back to the flaming guest house
to see the same tall figure emerge from the door frame;
flaming debris covering its body have no effect as it
stands as a sentinel before the wreckage.
Running out of breath, Dylan is relieved when the figure
finally walks away from what use to be Bos house.
Resurfacing, Dylan gasps for air. The machine is now a good
distance away, but she clearly recognizes the design.
The figure jogging back towards the trees; its the same
machine from the game.
EXT. / INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - EVENING
Still damp and walking her nearly destroyed bicycle into the
garage, Dylan enters the house through the door, through the
laundry room, and into the family room.
Nearly at the top of the stairs, Col. Yates calls out to
Dylan from the living room sofa.
COL. YATES

Private Yates.
Dylan is still visibly shaking as she attempts to compose
herself and face her father.

COL. YATES
Hes grounded, hes not suppose to
be anywhere else at all.
Dylans attention is drawn to the large television in the
corner of the room. On the screen is a picture of Bo Hans
smoldering guest house as the NEWSCASTER explains...
NEWSCASTER

report that a gas leak led to an
explosion. Although authorities
have not been able to identify the

confirmed from this tragic
accident.
COL. YATES (O.S.)
Dylan, are you listening?
Horror is firmly engraved on the young girls face as she
looks from her father to Jill.
DYLAN
Sorry, he didnt tell me anything.
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - DYLANS ROOM - LATER / NIGHT
Dylan is playing Out Run on her Sega Genesis, but her
vehicle on the screen careens around a corner too fast and
wipes out in spectacular fashion.
Dropping the controller, Dylan massages her still shaking
hands.

INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - SECOND FLOOR LANDING - LATER

Opening the door to her room, Dylan knocks on Lukes door.
After a moment of silence, she opens the door to find the
same disaster area of a bedroom; still vacant.
With the sound of the television coming from the downstairs
living room, Dylan makes her way down the carpeted steps.
INT. PROFIT RESIDENCE - FAMILY ROOM - SAME
Grading papers with Walker Texas Ranger playing in the
background, Col. Yates turns around to address his daughter.
COL. YATES
So where were you this afternoon?
DYLAN
Looking for Luke; mission failed.
COL. YATES
Whats wrong, private?
DYLAN
Dad, what do you do when you get in
a fight with something bigger than
you?
Col. Yates motions for Dylan to sit beside him. She obliges.
COL. YATES
Desert Storm was bigger than me,
you know. It was bigger than any
one soldier. If you absolutely have
to go to war, dont go alone.

Dylan, is everything alright?
Dylan looks to her father, trying to hide her pain, but it
starts to bleed through. She nods. She lies.

pissed that Dylan hacked into their
experimental drone during a
mission, and theyve decided to
abduct her family and friends until
she turns herself in.

OJ Simpson money too?
Nathan has wandered over from a console towards the trio.
His jaw is on the floor.

remote. Holly is screwing together a remote control beside
her. Tom is on the phone. Nathan looks up from the computer
to Dylan.
DYLAN
And what happened to it?
NATHAN
Its still there.

EXT./INT. TEXAS HIGHWAY 20 - RED BRONCO - EARLY MORNING
Still dark, the endless highway stretches out before the Red
Bronco as it races across the road.
Within the back of the cab of the Bronco, Holly leans up
against Dylan; both struggling to stay awake.
HOLLY
Im not ready.
DYLAN
You have another hour till we get
there.
HOLLY
An hour isnt going to be long
enough for me to be okay with
losing my best friend.
Dylan positions herself to face Holly, and takes her hand.
DYLAN
Did I tell you how I got over my
mom, when she left?
Holly shakes her head.
DYLAN
I didnt.
HOLLY
That doesnt sound particularly
helpful.
DYLAN
My dad said, pain doesnt just go
away on its own, you have to work
through it.
(Beat)
When I started playing Street
Fighter, I finally started to feel
like I could get through that pain.
HOLLY
This aint Street Fighter, Dylan.
DYLAN
No, this is all on me. Im using my
hands and my brain to get myself
through the next level. Its not
about whats on the screen, but
whose working the controls that
counts.

HOLLY
Dylan?
DYLAN
Yeah.
HOLLY
There is no game thats going to
make me alright with you being
gone.

Holly wraps her arms around Dylan.

The Bronco continues down the lonely highway.
EXT. ABILENE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT OUTSKIRTS - LATER
Approaching from the North, several dozen twin propeller
aircraft are parked in uniform rows. A handful of small
bunkers also liter the airport grounds; all
indistinguishable from the next with a tin roof, and
aluminum siding.
A long rectangular concrete sign with Abilene Regional
Airport carved into the side sits beside the road: The
Airiel Telegraphic logo is etched underneath.
The Bronco pulls off the highway and enters a residential
neighborhood.
Crossing over a bridge spanning a filthy river, the Bronco
comes to a stop.
Crawling her way out of the back of the truck, Dylan is now
dressed in black jeans and a dark grey pullover sweater.
Throwing her back pack over her shoulders, Dylan looks back
once more to Holly.
Holly says nothing more; there is only a deep longing in her
eyes as Dylan closes the doors.
EXT. ABILENE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT OUTSKIRTS - LATER
Climbing down the side of a step embankment, Dylan makes her
way into the filthy water; her backpack held above her head
as she wades into the muck.
Its not too deep, but the river narrowing to a stream of
mud is a half mile too long till it reaches the airport.
Eventually, Dylan comes to a chain link fence dividing the
now narrow stream and the airport grounds. Holding her
breath, Dylan crawls through the cement pipe halfway beneath
the waterline.

94.

EXT. ABILENE M. AIRPORT - AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC TERMINAL LATER

Having removed her pullover, Dylan runs through the wide and
exposed length of lawn parallel the runway avoiding the
security lights roving the grounds.
Reaching the head of the runway, Dylan comes upon a small
cluster of buildings. The larger of the buildings has
several semi-trucks backing into the rear of the facility.
A crew of WORKERS unload large coffin sized WOODEN CRATES
from the back of the trucks.
Still avoiding the light, Dylan sneaks her way over to a
roof access ladder and climbs her way up the side of the
first building.
On the roof, Dylan quickly makes her way across to the
front.
From her vantage point, Dylan witnesses a YOUNG BOY being
escorted by TWO OFFICERS in uniform from the furthest
building marked "DORMS" into the larger building beside her.
Lying flat on her stomach, Dylan waits for the guards and
the boy to enter before she rolls herself off the roof and
slides down an adjacent ladder.
As soon as Dylans boots hit the ground, a STRONG ARM grips
her shoulder and pushes her up against the wall.
GUARD (O.S.)
What are you doing out of your
bunk, cadet?
DYLAN
Getting hazed.
The young GUARD (19), dressed in security fatigues shines a
light in Dylans face with one hand, and keeps her pinned
with the other.
GUARD #1
What?
DYLAN
The others, they told me I was new
so I had to crawl through the
ravine; they were hazing me.
The guard lets up, holsters his light and draws his gun.

Hand over the bag.
Ripping the backpack from Dylans arms, the Guard unzips and
rifles through the bag.
DYLAN
They threw all my stuff in the mud
too.
The guard pulls out Dylans mud soaked sweatshirt.
GUARD #1
Fine. Im escorting you back to
your bunk. If you have any
problems, you call for security,
understood?
DYLAN
Yes, sir.
INT. AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC - DORMITORY - LATER
Dylan is shoved into a dark room, and the door is slammed
shut behind her.
Quickly, the young girl makes her way to the back of the
room looking for a way out. Finding nothing but wall, Dylan
walks back to the front surveying her surroundings: thin
windows all bared and sealed.
Dylan is startled as SOMEONE in one of the bunks stirs, and
then vomits. Dylan makes her way over to the bunk.
Shivering on top of a wool blanket, another KID, (10) wipes
his mouth as he rocks himself into the fetal position.
DYLAN
Hey, I need your help.
Dylan attempts to shake the young boy gently by the
shoulder, but hes non-responsive.
With glazed eyes he keeps rocking.
Opening the young boys foot locker, Dylan takes the
opportunity to slip into dryer clothes. Rifling through his
foot locker, she finds a pair of navy blue khakis and
matching work shirt.
As Dylan changes, she notices the other bunks occupied by
equally sick children. At the end of the row of bunks,
something else catches Dylans eye: a vent.

Dylan quickly crosses to the back of the room passing bunk

after bunk of children. The young girl crouches down and
withdraws a screwdriver from her pack.
As she begins to work, Dylan hears a frail voice in the bunk
beside her.
AMIE (O.S.)
Where do you think youll run to?
Dylan turns around.
Laying face up in her bunk, is a young skinnier and crew cut
remnant of AMIE KOBYASHI (13).
DYLAN
Im not running yet. Are they
holding people anywhere else
besides here?
AMIE
Theres nowhere else besides here.
Dylan leans in further towards the bunk; her memory suddenly
clicks in to focus.
DYLAN
Amie? Amie Kobyashi?
AMIE
What does it matter?
DYLAN
Luke Profit, hes my step-brother.
Do you remember Luke?
AMIE
Luke? I remember. Sort of. Do you
think hed ever date a murderer?
Dylan gets real quiet and sits down besides Amie.
DYLAN
Look, they took my family. Im
going to get them back. Will you
help me?
AMIE
Back? Theyre everywhere. Theres
nowhere left to go back to.
Amies pupils are beyond dilated, and her fingers continue
to scratch at the track mark in her arm.

AMIE
Theres only the next mission.
Grabbing a hold of Amies shoulders with both hands, Dylan
speaks in a calm and commanding voice.
DYLAN
The next mission, your mission, is
to help me get my family and your
boyfriend out of here, thats an
order solider.
Amie rolls over to face Dylan, the first sign of actually
acknowledging her presence. Releasing Amie, Dylan watches as
the zombie like girl sits up from her bunk and puts her feet
on the floor.
Suddenly, the front door swings open. The young guard from
earlier opens the door along with another GUARD #2.
GUARD #2
We need two more.
Dylan takes Amie by the hand, and they walk to the front of
the room. Upon seeing the guards, Amie begins to hesitate,
like dead weight.
GUARD #2
Typically we have to fish em out.
GUARD #1
Yeah, that ones new.
DYLAN
(To Amie)
Lets move it soldier.
Amie reluctantly continues forward as both guards seize the
girls by the wrist.
GUARD #2
Whats this?
The second guard grabs hold of Dylans backpack.
DYLAN
I dont want them messing with my
stuff while Im out.
GUARD #2
No contraband.

EXT. ARIEL TELEGRAPHIC - LATER
Amie and Dylan are escorted through the main courtyard till
they get to the large, central building.
DYLAN
You have anywhere else besides the
dorms to bunk in; that place smells
like your mom after sex: filthy.
The first guard chuckles, but the second shoves Dylan
forward with the butt of his rifle.
GUARD #2
You wanna sleep somewhere else,
well throw your smart ass in the
infirmary.
DYLAN
Your mom makes you clean the brig
though, right?
With another forceful strike, the second guard sends Dylan
down to asphalt. The first guard steps in to quell the rage
of the second.
GUARD #1
Shes just trying to get a rise out
of you.
(To Dylan)
And you, on your feet and keep your
mouth shut.
Standing to her feet, Dylan keeps walking toward the
building.
DYLAN
Sir, yes sir.
INT. AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC - WAR ROOM - LOBBY - LATER
The two girls are shoved into what looks like an airport
lobby; checkered linoleum floor, sterile and secured with a
metal detector and two more ARMED GUARDS.
Amie is pushed though the metal detector first. The GUARD #3
on the receiving end holds Amies arm down to a table.

Dylan watches a male NURSE wearing scrubs and a face mask

inject Amie with a large syringe. The young girl lets out a
painful scream.
As she too is shoved through the metal detector, Dylan
watches her bag get tossed to another GUARD #4.
GUARD #1
Just put it next to the blonde one
so she doesnt whine all morning.
Dylan also has her arm pinned down, and a needle shoved into
the vein. She too wails in pain.
INT. WAR ROOM - MAIN AUDITORIUM - MOMENTS LATER
Dragged through the main double doors, Dylan is escorted
behind Amie through several rows of drone pilot stations.
Dylans eyes dart back and forth; pupils dilating. Her
accelerated heartbeat is AUDIBLE, as she nervously massages
her hands.
As the Fourth Guard shoves Dylan down into her seat, she is
fastened and locked into place. Before the guard leaves, he
drops her bag on the floor in front of her, just out of
reach.
GUARD #4
Big League 0-9, strapped in.
The fourth Guard also fastens a set of head phones onto
Dylan.
DECK BOSS (O.S.)
Copy, Big League 0-9. Ears on?
GUARD #4
Big League 0-9, ears on.
Everything else becomes muted as Dylan watches the three
black monitors in front of her run lines of code. Inside her
headphones, the gravely voice of the DECK BOSS (48), a
stereotypical drill sergeant barks orders into her head.
DECK BOSS (V.O.)
You are Big League 0-9. Repeat your
identity.
DYLAN
Big League 0-9, copy.

Dylan is visibly sweating, and her hands are shaking.
The three large screens that wrap around Dylan, fencing her
in like cubicle walls, all turn on to immerse Dylan in the
sensation of free falling to earth.
SUPERIMPOSED ON SCREEN - "Press P to open parachute!"
EXT. SOUTHERN SUDAN - NOON / SAME
BIG LEAGUE P.O.V. - Landing hard on the ground, Dylans
avatar is thrown into a sprawling firefight. Caught between
local SUDANESE REBELS and a PLATOON OF DRONES, Dylan quickly
runs and ducks for cover behind rusting construction
equipment.
INT. AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC - WAR ROOM - SAME
With how her seat is constructed, Dylan can barely move her
neck to look away from the war zone in front of her in full
stereoscopic sound.
DECK BOSS (V.O.)
Big League 0-9, get in the fight.
Subtly Dylan slips one of the ear phones off.
Stretching out her foot, Dylans toes reach for the
backpack.
DECK BOSS (V.O.)
Big League 0-9, engage the enemy.
With one foot finally wrapped around a strap, Dylan pulls
her backpack towards her.
Grabbing the controls, Dylan half-asses a charge forward
next to another robot. With one ear still unplugged, Dylan
can hear YELPS and SCREAMS of other KIDS somewhere in the
building.

101.

EXT. SOUTHERN SUDAN - NOON / SAME

BIG LEAGUES P.O.V. - Charging forward towards a makeshift
bunker, Dylans avatar stops firing. Zooming in, several
CHILD SOLDIERS armed with AK-47s hide behind the sandbags.
INT. AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC - WAR ROOM - SAME
Horrified, Dylan releases her hands from the controls.
DECK BOSS (V.O.)
All points, take out those bunkers.
On the screen before her, Dylan watches as an RPG sails into
the bunker with war boys: a flash of white, fire, and smoke
remain.
DECK BOSS (V.O.)
All clear to advance.
Dylan fishes through her bag and withdraws a pocket knife,
immediately working on cutting through the lap restraint.
DECK BOSS (V.O.)
Big League 0-9, this is your final
warning; get back into the fight!
Finally through the restraint, Dylan palms the knife in her
right hand and gets back to the controls.
Taking in a deep breath-Dylans finger wrap around the joystick.
EXT. SOUTHERN SUDAN - NOON / SAME
BIG LEAGUES P.O.V. - Switching out her rifle to a grenade
launcher, Dylans avatar jogs forward towards the rest of
the DRONES. Once in range, Dylan opens fire.
DECK BOSS (V.O.)
Big League 0-9, cease fire.
BIG LEAGUEs P.O.V. - Round after round, Dylans avatar gets
the drop on nearly every single Drone.
DECK BOSS (V.O.)
We have a a Code Blue on Blue,
repeat Blue on Blue. Cut power to
terminal 64.

102.

BIG LEAGUEs P.O.V. - Another drone is lined up in the cross

hairs as Dylans avatar clicks empty. Switching back to her
assault rifle, a barrage of bullets tears the opposing drone
in half.
INT. AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC - WAR ROOM - SAME
Suddenly, all the screens around Dylan go black.
Ripping her head set off, Dylan collects her backpack and
exits the cubicle; staying low, moving swiftly to the front.
GUARD #4
Shes not at her station.
GUARD #3(O.S.)
Block the exits. Shes still here.
Fan out.
Towards the front of the row, past a few other COMATOSE
KIDS, Dylan finds Amie. The young Asian girl is still
staring at her screens while Dylan uses her knife to cut
through the seat belt.
DYLAN
Amie, I need you to come with me
now.
Pulling the headphones off Amie, Dylan assists the Asian
girl out of her chair and onto the floor. Both manage to lay
on the floor just before Guard 3 passes by.
DECK BOSS (O.S.)
Tell the brass upstairs that we had
to abort mission.
GUARD #4 (O.S.)
Lets get some light on in here.
Dylan and Amie begin to crawl their way towards the rear
exit as the sounds of the guards boots smack hard on the
concrete floor. Nearly within spitting distance of the door,
the blinding overhead lights flip on.
GUARD #3 (O.S.)
We got another one missing.
From her worms eye view, Dylan can see the boots of the
Third Guard block their exit.
DECK BOSS (O.S.)
Nobody leaves. Get the recruits
lined up against the wall.

Without another moments hesitation, Dylan pulls Amie up to a
crouching position and sprint for the door.
GUARD #3 (O.S.)
There they are!
EXT. AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC - WAR ROOM - LOBBY - CONTINUOUS
Slamming the door shut behind her and Amie, Dylan removes
her leather belt and uses it to tie the two door handles
together.
From behind her, a gloved hand pulls at Dylans shoulder.
NURSE
What do you think youre doing?
Shaking off the nurses hand, Dylan withdraws her pocket
knife and plunges it into the mans inner thigh.
Twisting her knife brings the Nurse down to his knees. Dylan
follows him down ripping off his surgical mask and keeping
the pressure on as she continues to hold her knife.
DYLAN
Wheres the infirmary?
NURSE
Help.
The guards on the other side are attempting to break through
the door; beating, and pounding on the wooden doors.
DYLAN
Where are they holding my dad?
The nurse continues to pry Dylan off him with one arm, while
hitting her with the other.
NURSE
Somebody help.
In a feral rage, Amie grabs hold of the Nurses free hand

Amie by the hand and runs through the doors.
EXT. AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC - LATER / DAWN
The morning sky is turning a lighter shade of grey as the
two girls run out into the main courtyard.
Dylan races around to the back side of the buildings where
theres still some darkness to cover her.
DYLAN
Building five, building four...
Approaching a small building with a glass floor to ceiling
window and door, Dylan begins to pound on the door with her
bloodied hand.
From inside the building, a short man with glasses (DOCTOR,
50) approaches the glass.
DYLAN
We need help! Help us!
INT. AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC - MEDICAL CENTER - CONTINUOUS
As the doctor opens the door, Dylan and Amie enter.
DOCTOR

Dylan grabs one of the chairs and throws it at the doctor,
knocking him off balance. Amie tackles the doctor down to

face first into the carpet.
Amie retaliates, slamming another one of the office chairs
down onto the doctor.
Both girls scramble toward the back door with the Doctor
getting back to his feet behind them.
Seconds away from being grabbed, Dylan manages to turn the
key and leap through door.
INT. MEDICAL CENTER - PATIENT WING - CONTINUOUS
Before the girls can slam the door behind them the Doctor
gets a hand through. With several forceful shoves, the
doctor eventually retracts his hand.
With the door shut behind them, Dylan jogs down the small
hallway checking each window of each patient room.
The third room till the end, Dylan sees Jill; strapped to a
bed with IV flowing through her.
Dylan works her way through the keys until she finds the one
that opens the door.
INT. MEDICAL CENTER - PATIENT WING - ROOM 4 - CONTINUOUS
Quickly unlatching the arm straps, Dylan attempts to wake
her step-mother.
DYLAN
Jill! Jill wake up!
Jill looks awake, but exceptionally stoned as she stares
blankly through Dylan.

INT. MEDICAL CENTER - PATIENT WING -

Dylan bursts into the room in near tears.

DYLAN

Her father, also hooked up to an IV and arm restraints,
continues to mutter half coherently.
COL. YATES

EXT. MEDICAL CENTER - PATIENT WING - MOMENTS LATER

guiding Jill to the back door.
Dylan is assisting her father when she notices that the
POUNDING on the door has stopped.
GUARD #1 (O.S.)
Get ready to blow the lock. Lets

Quickly moving to the back of the hall, the four pass by the
last two rooms; both are empty.

EXTINGUISHER, they finally come upon their exit.
EXT. MEDICAL CENTER - MOMENTS LATER
TWO GUARDS (Guard #5 and Guard #6) wait outside the rear
exit of the Medical Center.
Both guards turn as the door is violently kicked open and a
stream of compressed fire retardant flows into their faces.
Dylan hurls the empty fire extinguisher tin into the face of
Guard #6 before diving into the legs of Guard #5 tackling
him down to the ground.
Grabbing the fire extinguisher, Dylan hesitates just long
enough for the Fifth Guard to shove her away. Fortunately,
Amie is able to jump into the fray and knock Guard #5 out
with the fire extinguisher.
Dylan heads back to the entry way where her father and Jill
are propped up against the inside wall and leads both adult
sized vegetables out of the door.
As the VOICES of the other GUARDS in the hall grow closer,
Dylan locks the back door, and breaks the key off in the
lock.
Slamming the door shut in front of her, Dylan hears a
GUNSHOT ring out behind her.
Standing over the fallen Guard #5, Amie looks dazed holding
a smoking gun pointed down at her victim.
AMIE
They made it look so easy.

They lied.
Amie turns the gun on herself; aimed at the heart, hand

stepping forward to Amie, Dylan is starting to crack under
the pressure.
DYLAN
Yes, you deserve the chance to make
things right. You have that chance,
right now, and we need to leave,
right now. Drop the gun!
AMIE (O.S.)
I can leave. I can leave right now.
Close enough, Dylan grabs for the gun and rips it out of
Amies hand. Amie barely reacts, still dazed and staring
down at the soldier.
Dylan disarms the gun and tosses it aside.
Almost hyperventilating, Dylan looks back to Amie, Jill and
her Dad, and finally to the door.
The guards continue to pound on the door, until it finally
swings open. Pouring out of the door guns drawn, the guards
see no sign of Dylan and company.
EXT. ABILENE M. AIRPORT - PUBLIC TERMINAL - LATER
The faint sound of ALARMS can still be heard while Dylan
along with her dad, step-mom, and Amie in tow sprint towards
the public airport terminal.
The light of day slowly creeps over the horizon.
Looking over her shoulder, Dylan can see a few DOZEN Airiel

INT. AIRCRAFT 16-B
In the sparsely populated cabin, Dylan helps her dad and
step mom into their seats. Dylan then lets Amie take the

COL. YATES

DYLAN

The engines begin to ROAR to life. Dylans father nods
absent mindedly before finally nodding off to sleep. With a
look of profound confusion, Jill begins to sob quietly,
burring her head into her husbands chest.
Still distressed, Dylan looks over to Amie as the plane
begins to taxi down the runway.

GEPETTO

Dylan is shocked, and gradually overcome by tears.
GEPETTO (O.S.)

Dylan can hardly see through her tears, and can barely speak
through a quivering jaw.
DYLAN
You killed them.
GEPETTO
YOU killed them. When you decided
to play games with your nations
military equipment, YOU put lives
at risk. This is on you, becauseAll of a sudden, the other officers begin to scatter in
panic, ducking behind their cop cars. The radio on Gepettos
lapel CRACKLES as a panicked VOICE shouts over filtered
machine gun fire.

DECK BOSS (V.O. / FILTERED)

Agent Gepetto, we have a security
breach-- Someone has hacked-- We
have to evacuate!
As soon as Gepettos attention is on his radio, Dylan
summons all her anger to jump up and headbutt the agent in
the chin; knocking his glasses off.
Gepetto grabs his chin and frantically looks for Dylan: her
and the sunglasses have vanished.
Looking across the tarmac, Gepetto sees THREE FAMILIAR
FIGURES approaching, along with thick black smoke billowing
from the Ariel Telegraphic base.
Jogging across the tarmac are BIG LEAGUE, SPEARMINT, and
ECLIPSE.
Eclipse is cradling an M107 sniper rifle. Where Spearmints
arms should be are twin M4 rifles with fixed blades on the
end of each like bayonets. Big League is armed with an M-61
Vulcan Canon mini gun, and rocket launchers strapped to each
shoulder: he opens fire first.
Diving behind the nearest police car, Gepetto watches as the
cars to the right and left of him are blown clean off the
tarmac.
From the ground, Gepetto ducks for cover as gun fire ERUPTS
over his head between the OFFICERS and the DRONES. Across
from him, Gepetto spies Dylan.
Lying on the ground, Dylan slips her cuffed hands under her
butt, and over her legs. Once her hands are in front of her,
the girl quickly unlocks the cuffs with the broken ear piece
of Gepettos glasses.
Dylan looks up, and locks eyes with Gepetto. With all the
malice she can muster Dylan drags her thumb across her neck
like a knife.
With her silent vow issued, Gepetto watches as Dylan grabs
her backpack and runs through the firefight.
Moving quickly, ducking between cars, Dylan finally reaches
the point where she has to venture into open range. Taking a
deep breath and wiping the tears from her face, Dylan takes
off back towards the main terminal building.
Gepetto, still caught in the middle of the firefight yells
into his lapel radio.

GEPETTO
Activate the others and restore
control to the three we have on the
field. And get me air Evac. NOW!
EXT. ABILENE M. AIRPORT - PUBLIC TERMINAL - MOMENTS LATER
Dylan has reached the main terminal building, and throws
herself up and over the fence around a roof access ladder.
While she climbs, a war zone continues over Dylans
shoulder.
Rolling over the top of the ladder onto the roof, Dylan rips
open her back pack. Throwing aside her ruined sweatshirt the
girl withdraws one of the remote controls from earlier.
Switching on the power, Dylan flips up a screen that
resembles three Game Boy screens hastily soldered together.
Green and grey graphics scroll through thousands of lines of
code as the power comes to life.
Finally, a blank screen appears and Dylans fingers deftly
manipulate the controls.
EXT. AIRIEL TELEGRAPHIC - WAREHOUSE - SAME
Bursting out of one of the coffin shaped boxes, one of the
model FIVEs piloted by Dylan arms itself for battle.
As it breaks into a jog, the wreckage of the Warehouse can
be seen along with many disabled DRONES.
EXT. ABILENE M. AIRPORT - PUBLIC TERMINAL - SAME
From Dylans vantage point, she witness the shoot out
between the DRONES and Ariels security forces continue to
rage on.
ON SCREEN - Green and gray graphics display the long stretch
of tarmac leading up to the battle. Robotic arms pumping in
time as it runs.
From the roof, Dylan checks her screen and then the live
war-zone in front of her. A SWAT truck comes crashing
through the gates and is deploying heavily armed SOLDIERS to
fight against the Drones.
Dylan manipulates the controls in her hands and aims her
robot at the SWAT truck.
FIVES P.O.V. - With his assault rifle out, short bursts of
fire blow out the front tires of the SWAT van. It skids to a
stop.

The SWAT forces on the ground are undeterred; concentrating

their fire on Big League, a hail of bullets bring the
massive robot to its knees.
Dylan strafes around the SWAT team and the smoking barricade
of Ariel police vehicles to get a better vantage point.
ON SCREEN - Cross hairs in green and grey graphics search
for a target to hit, but find none.
Edging herself closer to the ledge of the roof, Dylan
watches as a HELICOPTER lands in the field on the outskirts
of the tarmac.
Entering the helicopter is none other than Gepetto and a
handful of remaining GUARDS.
Dylan SCREAMS, pulling her triggers.
ON THE TARMAC - Five lets out wild bursts at the helicopter
as Spearmint is taken out by gunfire beside.
Gepettos helicopter takes off with only a few bullet holes
to show for Dylans efforts.
Seething on the roof, the girl watches as the helicopter
hovers above the scene; taunting Dylan... looking for Dylan.
Running back across the roof away from the Tarmac, Dylan
works the controls on the remote to make a retreat of her
own.
FIVES P.O.V. - Robotic arms pump up and down as the drone
sprints toward the civilian terminal. As it continues to
run, it passes by the twisted metal remains of Eclipse.
ON SCREEN - Green and Grey graphics display robot arms
crashing through a chain link fence, stepping into the
middle of the road, and looking up to the top of the
terminal roof.
Dylan reaches the opposite edge of the roof and clips the
remote control onto the harness underneath her shirt. Behind
her, Gepettos helicopter approaches.
GEPETTO (BULLHORN FILTERED)
Take her out!
Suddenly a large fishhook punches up through the roof
beneath Dylans feet. With one great leap, Dylan dives off
the ledge.
Throwing her backpack over the metal wire cable, Dylan
zip-lines off the roof toward her Drone.

As her boots scrape across the ground, Dylan tumbles end

over end on top of the asphalt to a painful stop.
Looking over her shoulder, she watches Gepettos helicopter
crest over the building.
Pulling herself up, Dylan hobbles into a run toward a fast
approaching vehicle: a Red Bronco.
Making a quick U-Turn, and slamming on the breaks, Holly
opens the rear tailgate for Dylan.
As Dylan runs, gunfire misses her by inches. She dives to
the pavement: curling up in a ball. Looking up, she watches
as the Bronco backs up to her position.
Rolling on her back, Dylan unlatches her remote control.
ON SCREEN - Green and grey graphics show the cable detach
from the roof, and cross hairs turn and zero in on Gepettos
helicopter.
Dylans squeezes the triggers and watches as the Helicopter
evades the incoming fire from the drone. Scrambling to her
feet, Dylan throws herself into the back of the truck.
INT. ABILENE M. AIRPORT - RED BRONCO - CONTINUOUS
HOLLY
What happened? Did you find your
dad?
Holly can barely look at an enraged Dylan; blood shot eyes
and a demonic scowl that releases short, quick bursts of hot
breath. Gunfire once again rains down, hitting the side of
the Bronco.
EXT. ABILENE M. AIRPORT - PUBLIC TERMINAL - CONTINUOUS
Tom guns the vehicle as the helicopter follows after in hot
pursuit. Trying to turn out of the terminal gunfire deters
Tom from making a clean get away.
INT. ABILENE M. AIRPORT - RED BRONCO - CONTINUOUS
Dylan still mans the controls of her remote, starring
intently at the screen.
FIVES P.O.V. - Running after the Bronco, the drone aims his
rifle up at the helicopter. It clicks empty. Subbing in the
colt .45 eight rounds later, the helicopter is still flying.
Growing frustrated, Dylan covers Holly with her body as
bullets rip through the top of the Bronco.

EXT. ABILINE M. AIRPORT - AIRCRAFT BONEYARD - CONTINUOUS

Toms Bronco crashes through a chain-link fence and speeds
through the endless rows of decommissioned planes.
INT. AIRCRAFT BONEYARD - RED BRONCO - CONTINUOUS
Dylan looks up from the remote to the helicopter, and back
down to the screen in her hand.
HOLLY
Drive faster!
NATHAN (O.S.)
Theyre gaining.
TOM (O.S.)
Shut up, Im driving!
HOLLY
LOOK OUT!
EXT. AIRCRAFT BONEYARD - CONTINUOUS
With the helicopter still pursuing the Bronco, Tom swerves
just in time to miss an incoming rocket screaming into the
side of an old jet.
A grand explosion follows.
Tom continues to weave in between the retired jets for
cover.
INT. AIRCRAFT BONEYARD - RED BRONCO - CONTINUOUS
Dylan pulls herself up into a seated position, starring back
into her remote control.
Holly covers herself and screams as another EXPLOSION erupts
beside them.
ON SCREEN - Green and grey graphics show the helicopter
being target locked in cross hairs.
DYLAN
Your gonna be sorry you ever taught
me how to kill.
Dylan grits her teeth.
Her fingers squeeze the triggers.

Looking out from the tailgate, Dylan watches as an RPG rams

its way into the side of the helicopter turning it into an
explosive firework; raining metal and human parts onto the
tarmac.
Breathing heavy, Dylan looks down at her monitor, and back
to the chaos shes made. She begins to rip off the remote
from her harness slowly at first, then violently; throwing
it against the side of the truck.
Bursting into tears, Dylan grabs hold of Holly and the two
girls embrace as the truck continues to race through the
airport.
EXT. AIRPLANE BONEYARD - CONTINUOUS
Ramming through another chain-link fence, the Red Bronco
exits the boneyard and flies out onto the freeway.
Toms truck continues to speed out onto the main highway
passing police, fire, and other emergency vehicles.
Moments later, there is only the Red Bronco still speeding
down the lonesome Texas freeway.
INT. HIGHWAY - LATER
Starring out over the barren Texas landscape, Dylans tries
to keep her red and tear laden eyes open.
HOLLY
Dylan?
Holly gently places a hand on her friends shoulder.
HOLLY
We made it, right?
DYLAN
Made it?
HOLLY
Everythings going to be okay I
mean, right?
Dylan stares deeply into Hollys eyes; she parts her mouth,
but only a single breath escapes her lips.
