Report on 3 most preferred international IT companies to work with and give the
reason for preference.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This study was to prepare a Report, to find -
”THE BEST THREE INTERNATIONAL IT COMPANY TO WORK WITH
AND WHY”.
It was requested by Professor BIDISHA BHADURY on 10th March 2010.
The QUESTIONAIRRE is prepared by the combined efforts of all the three
members.
The findings were divided on various criteria namely gender, course and work
experience.
It was concluded that when it comes to choosing international company to work
with for it professionals Google is at no. 1 position, followed by Microsoft at no. 2
and Yahoo! at no. 3.

There were 50 students of SICSR who participated in this survey which comprised
On the basis on gender, 54% males and 46% females.
On the basis of work experience 36% experienced and remaining 64%
non- experienced.
The students were selected randomly from four different courses namely MBA-IT,
M.Sc.(CA), BBA-IT and BCA and it was found that they belonged to different age
group varying from 18 to 28 years.
They belonged to different cities as well as foreign students also actively
participated which took care of it being a global survey.

From the above table, it can be interpreted that there are many options
available for the IT professionals in the global market. But maximum students
preferred Google, Microsoft and Yahoo! as their choices for the first three ranks.
It may be the result of them belonging to same college so the brand value remains
more or less same for all of them.
Another reason for a similar trend might be a result of the goodwill of these
companies on the internet as it is the main source for youngsters to search their
various queries.

From the above Graphs, it is depicted that Google is the buzzword amongst
youngsters when they want to work with a renowned international IT company.
This being a company started by two youngsters Larry Page and it is a source of
inspiration
Around 68% chose Google for first preference so it is clearly depicted that
its still tough for its competitor to play at par with this giant. The other companies
were not even near to it. Microsoft bagged 20 % votes which show Google’s
excellence.
COMPANY PROFILE:
Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG, FWB: GGQ1) is a multinational public
cloud computing and Internet search technologies corporation. Google hosts and
develops a number of Internet-based services and products, and generates profit
primarily from advertising through its AdWords program. The company was
founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while the two were attending Stanford
University as Ph.D. candidates. It was first incorporated as a privately held
company on September 4, 1998, with its initial public offering to follow on August
19, 2004. The company's stated mission from the outset was "to organize the
world's information and make it universally accessible and useful", and the
company's unofficial slogan – coined by Google engineer Paul Buchheit – is don’t
be evil. In 2006, the company moved to their current headquarters in Mountain
View, California.
Google runs over one million servers in data centers around the world, and
processes over one billion search requests and twenty petabytes of user-generated
data every day. Google's rapid growth since its incorporation has triggered a chain
of products, acquisitions and partnerships beyond the company's core search
engine. The company offers online productivity software, such as its Gmail e-mail
software, and social networking tools, including Orkut and, more recently, Google
Buzz. Google's products extend to the desktop as well, with applications such as
the web browser Google Chrome, the Picasa photo organization and editing
software, and the Google Talk instant messaging application. More notably,
Google created the Android mobile phone operating system, used on a number of
HTC phones such as the Nexus One and Droid Eris. Because of its popularity and
numerous products, Alexa lists Google as the Internet's most visited website.
Google is also Fortune Magazine's fourth best place to work, and BrandZ's most
powerful brand in the world.

From the above Graphs, it is clearly visible that Microsoft is the second most
preferred company amongst youngsters to work with.
The major factor for the selection turned out to be career development of
employees (30%) and Microsoft has a very positive goodwill (20%) in the market.
Students (20%) feel that it provides many perquisites which keep the employees
satisfied.
COMPANY PROFILE:
The company was founded in 1975, to develop and sell BASIC interpreters
for the Altair 8800. Microsoft rose to dominate the home computer operating
system market with MS-DOS in the mid-1980s, followed by the Windows line of
operating systems. Many of its products have achieved near-ubiquity in the
desktop computer market. One commentator notes that Microsoft's original
mission was "a computer on every desk and in every home, running Microsoft
software." Microsoft possesses footholds in other markets, with assets such as the
MSNBC cable television network and the MSN Internet portal. The company also
markets both computer hardware products such as the Microsoft mouse and the
Microsoft Natural keyboard, as well as home entertainment products such as the
Xbox, Xbox 360, Zune and MSN TV. The company's initial public stock offering
(IPO) was in 1986; the ensuing rise of the company's stock price has made four
billionaires and an estimated 12,000 millionaires from Microsoft employees

From the above Graphs, it is depicted that Yahoo!(13%) is the third most preferred
company amongst youngsters to work with. Though it was a close fight with oracle
and Microsoft both having 10% share.
The major factor for the selection came out to be a good employer-employee
relationship(30%) and 20% students found that career development scope is
abundant as well as job security(20%) came out to be a prevalent factor.
COMPANY PROFILE:
Yahoo! was founded by Jerry Yang and David Filo in January 1994 and was
incorporated on March 1, 1995. On January 13, 2009, Yahoo! appointed Carol
Bartz, former executive chairperson of Autodesk, as its new chief executive officer
and a member of the board of directors.
