topicsinthecourseallowsforstudentstobeinterestedinmanyofthetopicsthroughoutthe
course.Alsoifthestudentsweretotransfertoanotherschoolsystemthecourseworkwould
havethesamelookandfeelbecauseofstandardizationthroughoutthestateandnationfollowing
CommonCoreprinciples.
ProblemIdentification
Studentsneverrealizetheimportanceofknowingcopyrightlaw.Theytakeforgrantedthat
someoneisprotectingtheirownworksofart.ManystudentswillsearchtheInternetforimages,
musicandvideotouseintheirprojectsandpresentations.Theydonotfirstrealizetheimpact
theyaremakingonthemarketandhowlegalactioncancomedownonthem.Byprovidinga
coursethathelpsstudentsunderstandtheirglobalimpactandunderstandCopyrightlaw,they
becomemoreawareoftheirsocietalimpact.

Introduction
Thelearnersinthis9thto12thgradeclassaremadeupof42%girlsand58%boys,37%
White/nonHispanic,45%Black/nonHispanic,and18%Asian.Fiftypercentofstudentsare
labeledaseconomicallydisadvantaged,andonly10%arestudentswithdisabilities.The
demographicinformationforthislearneranalysiswasobtainedbyusingtheGeorgiaDepartment
ofEducationWebsite.TheGDoE(GeorgiaDepartmentofEducation)alsoprovides
demographicsofstudentsthroughouttheentireschool.Inordertoobtaintheneededinformation
forthesehighschoolstudentstestscoreswereaccessedthroughacademictranscriptsonInfinite
Campus,whichistheschoolsdatabaseofallstudents.Teacherobservationsandinterviewswere
alsoconductedinanattemptthegaininformationforthelearneranalysis.

TheschoolislocatedsouthofAtlantainatownknownasCovingtonwherethemedianincome
isbelowthenationalaverage.About50%ofthestudentsattendingtheschoolreceivefreeor
reducelunch,whichqualifiestheirhomeschoolasaTitleIschool.Thelearnersgothroughan
applicationprocesstoattendtheNewtonCollegeandCareerAcademy.Theychecktomakesure
studentsareontrackforgraduationandappeartohavelittletonodisciplineinfractions.The
majorityofthelearnersareAfricanAmericanandallofthemspeakEnglish,eventheHispanic
leanerswhoattendtheAcademyarefluentinEnglish.Thelearnersallsubmitworkonlineina
timelymannerandcontactwiththeirprofessorthroughonlinechatoremail.
