In the form of a six-paragraph essay (remember a paragraph is

four or more complete sentences related to a topic or idea),
write about the following:
INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH
In your own words, define both active learning and passive
learning.
In thinking about these two types of learning,
provide what you think of each of these overall-what is the one
main opinion you have come to concerning active learning VS
passive learning? (This will be your thesis.)
PARAGRAPH 2
On the basis of your answers to the statements on the ACTIVELEARNING STRATEGIES QUESTIONNAIRE, write a paragraph about

which type of learner (active or passive) that you are. What do

you think about this? When you think about how you have learned
in the past, does this make sense? Why so? Provide specific
details and examples that allow the reader to see and understand
this.
PARAGRAPH 3
Select three statements for which you answered sometimes or
never. In this paragraph, write about the first of the three
statements you chose. Or, if you dont have three statements for
this section, write about an active-learning strategy you already
use and why it has been helpful in school up to this point.
Provide specific details and examples that allow the reader to
see and understand this.
PARAGRAPH 4
Keeping in mind those same three statements for which you
answered sometimes or never, in this paragraph, write about
the second of the three statements you chose. Or, if you dont
have three statements for this section, write about an activelearning strategy you already use and why it has been helpful in
school up to this point. Provide specific details and examples
that allow the reader to see and understand this.
PARAGRAPH 5
Keeping in mind those same three statements for which you
answered sometimes or never, in this paragraph, write about
the third of the three statements you chose. Or, if you dont
have three statements for this section, write about an activelearning strategy you already use and why it has been helpful in
school up to this point. Provide specific details and examples
that allow the reader to see and understand this.
CONCLUDING PARAGRAPH
Refer back to your thesis (the one main opinion you communicated
in your introduction) and, then, write a paragraph about one way
in which you will become a more active learner. Choose one of the
strategies provided on p. 42 and include three specific things
you will do to make this strategy work for you.
On the Instructor Page for this class, under Uploads, there is a
MS Word template, called Essay Template, which you may download,
save, and use to complete Module 2 Essay.
