RESOLUTION TO REALLOCATE CONGRESS SEATS BASED ON FALL 2009


ENROLLMENT NUMBERS

1 WHEREAS, The IUSA Constitution requires that the IUSA Congress consider the
2 allocation of IUSA Congress seats on a yearly basis according the enrollment numbers of
3 the fall semester of a given academic year; and,

5 WHEREAS, The Rules, Membership, and Internal Affairs Committee has considered
6 Congress seat allocation based on the Fall 2009 enrollment numbers; and,
7
8 WHEREAS, There are currently 32 academic Congress seats, but the IUSA Constitution
9 indicates that there should only be 31 academic Congress seats; and,
10
11 WHEREAS, The formula used by the Rules, Membership, and Internal Affairs
12 Committee indicates that either the University Division or the College of Arts and
13 Sciences should lose one seat; and,

15 WHEREAS, The University Division currently has the most seats in the IUSA Congress
16 at 7; and,

18 WHEREAS, There are currently 30 residential Congress seats, but the IUSA
19 Constitution indicates that there should be 31 residential Congress seats; and,

21 WHEREAS, Off-Campus students make up the vast majority of Indiana University’s
22 residence numbers;

24 THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED, That the IUSA Congress reallocate Congress
25 seats based on Fall 2009 enrollment numbers so that the University Division loses one
26 seat for the Fall 2010-Spring 2011 academic year so as to have 6 seats in the IUSA
27 Congress; and,

29 FURTHER LET IT BE RESOLVED, That the IUSA Congress reallocate Congress
30 seats so that Off-Campus students gain one seat for the Fall 2010-Spring 2011 academic
31 year so as to have 16 seats in the IUSA Congress; and,

33 AND EVEN FURTHER LET IT BE RESOLVED, That the IUSA Congress affirm
34 that the composition of the IUSA Congress for the 2010-2011 academic year will be as
35 follows:
