ALCOHOL LICENSING The Glover Park advisory neighborhood commission is asking for the community's liquor license moratorium to continue but no longer apply to restaurants. (Georgetown Current) BUSINESS A pair of nonprofit Main Streets groups that aim to spruce up the commercial districts of Tenleytown and Van Ness each won $200,000 in city grant money on Monday. (Northwest Current, Dupont Current) DEVELOPMENT Debate on the District's zoning rewrite has drawn to a close, with primarily technical corrections remaining before the Zoning Commission finalizes the changes in January. (all editions) A plan to convert the historic Franklin School downtown into a satellite arts building for Georgetown University earned unanimous support from the Logan Circle advisory neighborhood commission last week. Truman Building to the east, will undergo a significant transformation over the next several years as part of a State Department development initiative. OPINION (all editions) Editorial: More D.C. residents need a chance to learn about the proposed Pepco-Exelon merger, and then deserve an outlet to voice their informed opinions. Editorial: It's unfortunate that the National Zoo elected to eliminate its early-morning hours without seeking a compromise with affected neighbors, and we hope officials will revisit the issue after a few months. Sherwood: Mayor Muriel Bowser's controversial FreshPAC is over, but questions remain. SPORTS (Northwest Current, Georgetown Current) Determined to show that public schools can compete with their private peers, Wilson girls soccer blanked St. John's 1-0 on Saturday to win the DCSAA title. For the second time in four years, St. Albans soccer captured the championship triple crown IAC regular and postseason, and the DCSAA with Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over Washington International.
Despite disappointment in the WCAC, St. John's volleyball pulled off a DCSAA victory by sweeping Maret 3-0 on Friday.
