The Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club is inviting applications for a dynamic individual with
strong club-building skills and a commitment to developing youth programs to fill our position of
Head Coach. KCKC is a growing club looking for someone who is interested in taking it to the
next level. The club’s mission is to promote and compete in the sport of sprint canoe and kayak
in a fun, friendly and safe environment. Our ideal coach will balance the needs of our high-
performance group, currently 11 full-time paddlers ranging from bantam to senior categories,
with recruiting new paddlers. This group requires the technical knowledge of a Competition
Development certified coach who has experience developing long-term training programs,
especially working with paddlers in the Training to Train and Training to Compete LTAD stages.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to create a positive, motivating and challenging
environment.
Under the general direction of the executive of KCKC, the coach is responsible for the
operation and activities of the KCKC facilities and its members. The coach organizes, plans
and conducts individual and team practices, training camps and competitions. Administrative
duties include preparing the Annual Training Plan for the above mentioned paddlers and
represent the club at all regattas as the spokesperson for KCKC. Along with leadership
experience, effective and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The
contract may begin May 1st and end Sept 30th. The shifts averaging 30 hours/week will run
from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. time frames, Monday to Friday and weekends. There will be flexible

1. CKC CanoeKids Instructor Certification
6. Proven record of outstanding Administration of Club programs, showing the ability to work
with younger paddlers.
8. Provide an Annual Training Plan to the interview panel will be considered beneficial.
DUTIES: The coach is expected to be a positive role. The coach will run the daily operations of
the flatwater sprint program and learn-to-paddle programs This will include on-water coaching,
dry-land training and off-water organization, and planning

6. Ensure registration lists and contact information are up to date.
7. Liaise with City of Kamloops, Canoe and Kayak affiliates, Media and Public Relations, and
additional paddling disciplines.
The salary range is negotiable depending on qualifications. We would like to thank all
