Read the following passage and answer the questions.
There are many sources of energy in our world. We can get energy from the sun, wind, waves
and falling water. We can also get energy form materials that contain stored energy. We call
these materials as fuels.
One of the most important sources of energy today is fossil fuels. There are three major forms
of fossil fuels; coal, oil and natural gas. All three were formed between 50 and 350 million
years ago before the time of dinosaurs.
Fossil fuels are made up of rotted plants and animals. When the plants and other ancient
creatures died, their rotting remains became buried under the ground. Millions of years later,
these remains had formed a hard, black colored rock called coal, or a thick black liquid called
oil and natural gas, depending on where they were.

Fossil fuels cannot be replaced quickly; this is why they are

called non- renewable energy sources. Each of the fossil fuels
needs to be removed from the ground, which can be very
expensive and make the landscape look ugly.
Once the fuel is removed from the ground it needs to be

Design a poster about fossil fuels; make sure your poster is colorful, interesting and easy to understand. You
can design it about all fossil fuels or just pick one. Your poster should include diagrams and you can add
information to it from other sources e.g. Internet, parents, books and CD-ROMs.

The joule is named for the British physicist James Prescott Joule (1818-1889).Joule made
major contributions to the understanding of energy, heat, and electricity.
