Bench Test Prep Course for Internationally Trained Dentists


This is a course for international dentists who are considering applying to Advanced Placement
Dental Programs in the United States and Canada. This is not a pre-requisite nor does it guarantee
admission to any dental school.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The University of Louisville Office of Continuing Education (ULSD) offers a Bench Test Preparatory
Course for International Dentists who are considering applying to Advanced Placement Dental
Programs in the United States and Canada. This course is designed for those who wish to receive an
introduction to the ideal restorative, endodontic, and fixed prosthodontic guidelines. A Periodontal
Module will also be presented.

The 3-day course involves didactic and hands-on sessions presented by the University of Louisville
School of Dentistry Faculty. Each discipline will present material with expected guidelines.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice procedures under instructor supervision in the ULSD
Simulation Clinic and receive feedback.
A portfolio of the participants involvement will be made available for their use.
All courses offered in English. Interpreters will not be provided.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Operative Dentistry
Instructor: University of Louisville Faculty
Preparation and restoration of composites and amalgams on mannequin mounted dentoforms
Fixed Prosthodontics
Instructor: University of Louisville Faculty
Preparation of an ideal crown on an anterior dentoform tooth with fabrication of an acrylic provisional
Endodontics
Instructor: University of Louisville Faculty
Perform a maxillary anterior tooth access, instrumentation and obturation on mannequin mounted
dentoforms
Periodontics
Instructor: University of Louisville Faculty
Complete a Periodontal Module Case Analysis in determining a periodontal diagnosis

PRE-REQUISITES (Must provide certified English translations of all documentation)


Clear, official, legible photocopies of your dental degree: BDS,DDS,DMD or equivalent, Certificate or
Diploma

ABOUT THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR:Marija Sasek, DMD

Bench Test Preparatory Program Director


Dr. Sasek earned her DMD degree from University of Louisville School of
Dentistry and has been practicing in Louisville since 2005. Currently, most of her
time is spent in clinical instruction at ULSD. She teaches pre-clinical dental
anatomy and aesthetic dentistry. Dr. Sasek is a board member of the Kentucky
Academy of General Dentistry and leads a student AGD Fellowship Track
program at ULSD. Her professional interests lie in various voluntary dental
services to the handicapped and under-privileged.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
We reserve the right to cancel, modify date, revise course content, revise program faculty and
activities. Pre-registered participants will be notified if a course is revised or cancelled, as warranted.
In the event a course is cancelled, tuition will be refunded. All registrations are subject to the ULSD
Cancellation Policy. This is a 'limited' attendance course. ULSD must receive your written request for
cancellation not later than four weeks prior to course start date to process a refund. A $75 processing
fee will be deducted from the refund. Course Registrants who are a 'NO-SHOW' forfeit course tuition.
