About ASK Daet Piglet Dispersal Program
About ASK Daet Piglet Dispersal Program
Program
Introduction
The first ASK project was formally launched in September 23, 2007 is a
piglet dispersal project, which aims to distribute free breeder piglets to
carefully selected residents of the town of Daet in the province of
Camarines Norte. It is for the recipients to care for and raise to maturity
and farrowing. In receiving the piglet, the recipient agrees and commits
to giving back at least two piglets to the project, for dispersal to new
recipients. Thus the project’s aim is not to simply give away piglets for
the sole benefit of the recipient, but to perpetuate the act of giving for
the long term benefit of the community. We believe that with the
multiplier effect that the piglet dispersal would greatly contribute to
alleviate poverty in Camarines Norte, the third poorest province in the
country.
Your donation will help us procure piglets for estimated amount of $50
per piglet, and cover incidental expenses incurred by a host of
volunteers.

Mission Statement
• Recipients must have experience raising pigs and have their own
decent pig pen.
• Recipients must sign the contract indicating that they must return
2 piglets for the first 2 years or 24 months (which ever comes first)
then they can own the original piglets given by the Project.
Distribution Process
• The place and time for the distribution of the Piglets shall be
arranged in coordination with the officials of the barangay
concerned or ASK Volunteers. Plan distribution to 5 Barangays for
every quarter (4 times a year).
• The first step toward rearing healthy piglets is making sure the
intended mother is mated! A gilt (a young female hog) should
reach sexual maturity at five or six months of age.
• It will take 4 to 8 weeks to wean the litter from the mother's milk.
Their diet need to be supplemented of high quality feed (use a
creep feeder so that the sow can't get at the goodies) containing at
least 18% protein and all the essential amino acid, vitamins and
minerals.
• Schedule time to give back two piglets to the program within the
18-24 months
