Dear Admission Officers,
It is my pleasure to write in support of Phuong H Vus application to your institution. As
herform teacher and Literature instructor at Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the
Gifted, I have known Phuong for three years. According to the experience I have been
having with Phuong, I can ensure you enthusiastically that Phuong is an academically
strong student and a devoted responsible leader among her peers.
In terms of academic performance, Phuong is an overall excellent student who in the
previous semesters had put a lot of efforts and strength to make progress. Back in her 10th
grade, Phuong just got mediocre results. However, last year she had made tremendous
improvement in her performance and ranked second in the class. She is very persistent in
achieving her goals and works the best of her ability to succeed. As her Literature teacher,
I see that Phuong also has a good acute sense for Literature. I still kept some of her
analytical papers for their outstanding quality. Rereading those, I still highly value her
mature and painstaking word choice. Phuong always learns and writes with great passion.
Her involvement in class is apparent. She tackles every assignment in class with
confidence and devotion no matter what the subject is. Every of my colleagues knows
and has a very deep impression of her. With her intellectual interests in both science and
humanities, I can say without doubt that she is one of my most balanced who performs
exceptionally well.
Phuong also excels in extracurricular activities and proves to be a very helpful and
responsible leader. It was with great pleasure that I took charge of her production of the
play Tam Cam that made me proud with all of my companions. She included a
considerable amount of poems in her teams script and occasionally added humorous

details that made her audiences gained different perspectives of the old folk. She helped
her teammates willingly, tried her best to engage the teamwork spirit and made sure her
group contributed the most to the play. As said, there was no wonder why Phuong and her
team earned the highest place. (c ngh nu dung place th phi l came in highest place) I
was also her supervisor for the English Performance, which created a sensation in our
city. She was an effective director and scriptwriter. During the school year when they
were preparing for the show, Phuong made great commitment and guided her team to
accomplish every task even in time of high pressure and difficulties. Her work was done
with meticulous care and great creativity. She always knew how to control and solve all
the problems arising. I remember the time when there were only few hours before the
performance started. The main role began to panic and cried. People shared confusing
looks but no one dared approach the emotionally unstable girl when Phuong came.
Phuong gave the girl encouraging hugs and inspirational words until the girl felt
confident again.
Phuong has a very potential future ahead. In her upcoming college years, I am sure that
she will learn from her new community with great passion and ready to share with them
her creativity, talents and exuberance -> She will immerse herself in her new community
and share her energy, enthusiasm, commitment and talent with her peers and her

Given her excellent ability to balance between progressive academic performance and
outstanding extra-curricular activities, I give Phuong Vu my strongest recommendation.
