Okay Kerry lets switch topics now. Id like to talk about unemployment. There are
some people who say that the cycles of unemployment that workers experience in
competitive economies have a negative effect on their morale and their productivity.
What are your views on this?

Woman

Well I think it does have a negative effect sometimes on the morale. Uhh, you may
not like the job youre in but, you may be in a situation where you, you have to stay
employed to survive I dont know if it would necessarily have a negative effect on
productivity though because youd want to be a productive employee in order to keep
your job.

Man

uh hmm. Isnt there a point though at which the uncertainty could start to undermine
your will to work, even though you need, you know you need to keep working?

Woman

Oh most definitely. I believe it could undermine what youre trying to do every day.
Its Its difficult to come to work when youre not enjoying your job. But when
you stop to think about all the bills you have to pay, the family you have to support,
you really know that you have to be at work every day and do your job.

Man

Uh hmm. Do you think workers can do anything to boost their own morale in
situations like that?

Woman

I think it all has to do with a positive attitude that when you go to work you just look
at the work as, it has to get done and dont take anything personally and just do your
job and go home at the end of the day and leave your work in the office.

Man
