Nonlinear Control
Nonlinear Control
Nonlinear Control
• Gain scheduling
• Control design techniques for nonlinear systems also exist. These can
be subdivided into techniques which attempt to treat the system as a
linear system in a limited range of operation and use (well-known)
linear design techniques for each region:
• Feedback linearization
• Those that attempt to introduce auxiliary nonlinear feedback in such
a way that the system can be treated as linear for purposes of control
design:
• In linear systems when the forcing function (input) has a frequency ω
the output will oscillate with the same frequency.
In nonlinear systems, however, the output may contain other frequencies
of lower values known as subharmonics. These subharmonics are not self
excited and depend on the initial conditions. It is necessary to give some
sort of a kick, say sudden change in amplitude or frequency of the forcing
function to initiate it.
A conservative system is a system for which a certain energy balance
equation is satisfied both by its trajectories and those of its dual system
