On Wednesday, December 16th, 2015
Arklan staff and students invite all families to join them in celebrating the holiday season. Grades 1 to 6 students will
be presenting a hockey-themed performance in the gym at 12:45 PM, featuring
hosts Don Cranberry and Ron McCandyCane. For those unable to attend on the
16th, youre invited to the dress rehearsal on December 15th.
The snow-date for Arklans Christmas

performances is Thursday,
December 17th.
Please join us for a fun, family-oriented
Christmas celebration!
Wear your favourite team jersey!!!
The Kindergarten students have scheduled their own celebration for Thursday,
December 10th at 2:45 PM in the gym.
The snow-date for this concert is Friday,
December 11th.
We look forward to celebrating with
many kindergarten families!

Snow days...theyre inevitable!! So, whats the quickest

way to find out if the school buses are cancelled due to
inclement weather? Go directly to the transportation
website at www.steo.ca. Updates are posted by 6:15
AM. You can also visit Arklans Facebook page.
Remember, theres no need to call the school if your
child will be absent because their bus is cancelled. BUT,
please do contact us if your child is not a bus student,
and is staying home on a snow-day.

Take advantage of this shopping opportunity to pick up

some quality books and other gift items. The ever-popular
Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for December 17, 18, 19,
20th. The book fair is open throughout these four school
days. Family members are welcome. Please stop by and
take a look.you may find something you like!

If you have a Santa toque, or a Christmas hat, wear it today!
December 17th: Red, White, Green Day!
Wear holiday colours and be ready for carols in the gym!

We sincerely appreciate the generosity of Arklan families. In the spirit of giving, we are asking for donations
to the Family and Childrens Services Angel Tree Program in lieu of teacher gifts. Monetary donations will
be used to purchase gifts for local Angel Tree children
picked by each classroom.

The Parent Council is a forum for giving feedback

from a parental perspective on various elements
of our school improvement work. It also provides
opportunities to give back by volunteering.

If you would like to join this years council, or

would like to attend a meeting to learn more, the
following meeting dates have been established
for this coming school year:

The Council will meet a few more times this year.

We typically meet the first Tuesday of the month
at 6:30 PM, and meetings last about an hour. We
encourage new parents to come and join us.

February 2, 2016 6:30 pm

Thanks to all the families for their generous support of the Little Caesars Pizza
Kit Fundraiser. Were very pleased to announce that the School Council raised
approximately $2,000!! Please dont forget...the pick up date/time for incoming
orders is Tuesday, December 8th between 3:45 and 5:30 PM in the lunch room.
Unfortunately, the school is not equipped to hold orders.
