Learning intentions
Students will correctly write the full name of the number that matches with the
numeric version shown. (i.e. 3 three)
Students will correctly write the full name of the number that matches with the
number of candles on the cakes.
Introduction
I will have a Powerpoint that starts by showing a written number name. The students will
use their number fans to show the numeric version of the written number (3 slides). Then
there will be a garden and ten flowers on the following three slides. The students will have
to drag the correct number of flowers into the garden based on the number that is given to
them on the Powerpoint. (i.e. if it says that 7 flowers are needed, then they would drag
seven flowers into the garden).
Activity
Students will complete the worksheet that shows ten different birthday cakes with various
numbers of candles on them. The students will have to write the correct number name that
matches the number of candles. On the back students will practice writing the number
names based on the correct number that is written on the cooks hat. They will also
complete the connect-the-dot activity by connecting in a sequence from one to ten.
Plenary
If time permits, we will discuss students worksheet answers.
