4 Efficiency
q

The use of One Shape decreased the preparation

time by up to () 59% compared with Mtwo. The
use of the other single-file system F360 decreased
the preparation time by about 30%. These results
are in agreement with a previous report, in as far as
the use of Reciproc decreased the preparation time
by 60% compared with Mtwo (Brklein et al. 2012).
The fact that preparation time was decreased
by about 6230% when using the single-file
systems is a clinically relevant finding in as far as,
simultaneously, the time available for irrigation
and chemical debridement of the root canal system
is also markedly reduced. To compensate the
decreased irrigation time when using single-file
systems, larger volumes of irrigant and additionally
activation of the irrigants seem to be advisable
to improve chemical dissolution of residual debris
and disinfection of the root canal system (Brklein
et al. 2012).

n T ime saving: sterile instrument, ready for use.

n Economic: no prior sterilization before use.
n Rapid treatment: a root canal treatment is approximately 60%

faster than a conventional treatment.

n Asymmetrical cross-section + longer pitch increase the available

volume for upward debris elimination: high-quality shaping.

n Overall duration of treatment shortened, leaving more time for

irrigation*.

* It is imperative to let the irrigant act for at least 15 minutes for optimal root canal disinfection.

Take
a preoperative radiograph
to assess canal anatomy
and establish Estimated
Working Length (EWL).

Establish
straight-line access
preparation to expose canal
orifices.

Remove
coronal constrictions
with ENDOFLARE (or use
your current flaring technique).
Canal
penetration
of
ENDOFLARE is limited to
3 mm below the pulp
chamber floor.

Establishing the Glide Path

Scout each root canal with small diameter hand files which provide information about the
root canal anatomy complementary to that obtained by the preoperative X-rays.
Prepare the glide path using #10 Stainless Steel K-type hand file (for example MMC 10).

K-File
- If the #10 K file easily
reaches the EWL and if it
is possible to take a #15
K file down to this EWL:
Copiously irrigate the canal
and use One Shape
according to the established
protocol.

G1 to EWL followed by G2 to EWL according to the recommended protocol. Copiously irrigate
after each instrument passage. Use the #15 K file to determine Working Length (WL).

Shaping the Root Canal

Irrigate thoroughly with sodium hypochlorite.

A
chelating gel (MM-EDTA Cream) can also be used during the root canal shaping.
a) Place One Shape down to the 2/3 of the WL using an in and out movement without pressure.
Perform an upward circumferential filing movement in order to pre-enlarge the canal.
Withdraw the One Shape instrument from the root canal and clean it. Irrigate and check canal
patency with a #10 K file.
b) Reintroduce the One Shape instrument into the root canal and place it down to 3 mm from WL
using an in and out movement without pressure.
Withdraw the One Shape instrument from the canal and clean it. Irrigate and re-check the
canal patency with a #10 K file.

Note

It is highly
recommended,
at a minimum, to
use One Shape
on an extracted
tooth or to receive
training regarding
this product prior
to using it for root
canal treatment.

c) Reintroduce the One Shape instrument into the root canal and take it down to the WL by
performing the recommended in and out movement.
The WL can be reached in one or more passages (file withdrawal, cleaning of the file, irrigation
and patency check) depending on the complexity of the canal anatomy.
An upward circumferential filing movement can then be performed if necessary and according
to the root canal anatomy.
Remove and clean the instrument and irrigate the canal when apical resistance or a slight apical pull is encountered. Repeat steps
until the WL is reached.

treatment. MICRO-MEGA developed reliable and practical filling solutions for use after
root canal preparation is performed with One Shape.
MICRO-MEGA presents you the One Shape Oburation range, which is the ideal complement
of One Shape.

Testimonials

Dr Tobias Mackert,

The innovative One Shape New Generation

files brings simplicity to the endodontic
procedure. The flexibility and the new
design of the files brings better cutting
efficiency, less screwing effect and higher
safety of instrument fractures. I also
appreciate to have the possibility to use
the new One Shape Apical files in cases
with lager apical foramina. All files respect
the original root canal anatomy really well
and the reduction of the shaping time gives
me more valuable time for irrigation.

The One Shape

Concept (including
the G Files) allows
me to simplify the
mechanical shaping
protocol for anatomical Dr. Liviu Steier,
Germany
non complicated root
canals. The addition
of the Apical Shaping
Files addresses exclusively the apical third
of the root canal and replaces earlier
practice of hybrid techniques.
I personally sense the application of
conventional (clockwise) kinematics with
the One Shape File Concept more gentle
and less fatiguing to the muscles
of the operators hand when compared
to reciprocation file systems.

They have tried it And they love it!

Dr. Alberto Dagna,

Italy

One Shape is really a smart, efficient

and helpful instrument. I love it, since
it was introduced in 2012. The One
Shape New Generation has lost
the sucking effect inside the root
canal and give a good feeling during
the treatment. It's able to negotiate
the root canal and its curvatures.
It reaches the apex easily and with
no resistance. It's useful for a lot
of cases and helpful for each dentist.
Single-file technique with single-use
instrument in continuous rotation

is a great help in simplifying daily

endodontics. All the endodontist
and the general practitioner should
be not yet scared by fracture of
the instrument: no sterilization and
stocking procedures are needed,
no stresses are accumulated. For
each treatment a new file is used
and discarded at the end of shaping.
In my personal opinion, I think that
One Shape introduced a new
"philosophy" of root canal treatment:
single, safe and simple use.
