SLO SOLIDARITY PRESS RELEASE

December 2, 2015

We are a collective group of over 50 students who all wrote the list of
demands you may have seen.
We did not demand for all the items on the list to be met in the short period
of time we implied. However, we did demand that we receive an action plan on
potential changes in said time.
Weve been meeting with the administration about these action items for a
while and are working towards a common goal to ensure a safe, welcoming, and
inclusive campus for all students.
The references to calling for a new administration are regarding a much
smaller, more concentrated and holistic group of demands we as organizers have
been working on all quarter with them.
Our letter was published by Mustang News without context. It was not out
of nowhere, as many have suggested. It was part of an ongoing conversation.
The group is not a club, it is an open movement. There are no set goals
except to make Cal Poly more safe and inclusive
If our methodology upsets you, we encourage you to join the Facebook
group and attend a meeting.
If our goals upset you, we encourage you to check your privilege
No individual will represent the movement in any further interviews at this
time.
The fact of the matter is, we received a death threat for promoting positive
change on this campus. This kind of response is an example of what we are
referring to when we say students dont feel safe on campus.
