Helping current and former street children in Haiti improve their lives

Zanmi Lakay's School Sponsorship Program is supporting 42 students

enrolled for the 2015/2016 School Year! Thank you to our sponsors for your gift of
education to so many worthy students! Ten students are in pre-school and
kindergarten giving these children needed consistency in their lives. During the first
years of school they develop social skills and learn how to be students where they can
explore, build confidence, and discover what is out in the world.
We are celebrating the first student in our program to graduate! Naderge is from Cit
Soleil, and it is her dream to go to college. She passed the exams needed to study
economics at Universit Inuka, and we're raising $1000 for her annual tuition, books,
and supplies. Help Naderge's dreams come true and donate to her college fund!
Congratulations
to Naderge on
graduating high
school! We're
proud of you!

In July, Guy and Jen organized a meeting with parents and students discussing
responsibilities, needs, and what we can do to improve the program. Our advanced
photography students took portraits of students in the program in Jacmel, Port-auPrince, Cite Soleil, St. Marc, and Titanyen. Thanks to Avanse and more than 25
individual sponsors for keeping this program alive and thriving. We still have students
in the program that need sponsoring - please contact us if you are interested.

It was an amazing year for the students in our 5th Annual

Jouk Li Jou Kan Foto - Youth Photo Camp in Jacmel, Haiti!
- In partnership with Art Creation Foundation for Children (ACFFC), Espoir des Enfants,
and students from Cite Soleil, 35 students participated in photography workshops,
business training, and computer classes by the Zanmi Lakay volunteer team. They
lined up for Maggie's Dream Counseling, two students are regularly working paid
assignments, and students are selling their postcards to local businesses. Family
Portrait Day was a huge hit, three students won computers for outstanding multimedia presentations, and four earned cameras for their in depth photo stories.
- Jephte, who passed the Business Exam and created a business plan, supplied us with
the first Jouk Li Jou t-shirts and we were proud to support his first big order!
- Although The Computer Lab needs a designated permanent space, we brought 29
more computers and had the Lab jumping for 2 weeks in a temporary place.
-The photo camp ended with a community celebration at the amphitheater on the
beach with dinner, a DJ, a dance performance, and video presentations.
