LIFE SKILLS

LEADERSHIP

Leader is the most important part of any group or organisation

Some of the qualities a good leader must have are:

Creativity
Commitment
Ability to Motivate

Meticulous

IN CASE OF OSAMA

VISION:
Osama bin Laden had a clear and consistent visionattack America. He
viewed the United States as an immoral nation, full of homosexuality, gambling,
alcohol, and an unacceptable alliance with Israel. Loosely allied terrorist
groups frequently adopted this mission and expanded it to include local
governments. He made a considerable effort to moderate these more
extreme group.

METICULOUS NATURE:
As a leader should be organized and should have a set of plans on which he
could discuss and negotiate with his team. Osama, being a leader, indeed
paid very deep attention to every detail of his mission. He was patient and
always took enough time to plan and execute, he asked his team for flaws in
his plan and took notice of every point.
Take an example of 9/11 attack, Bin Laden summoned Khalid Sheikh
Mohammed to Kandahar and gave approval for Mohammed to go forward
with the plot. A series of meetings occurred in spring of 1999, involving Khalid
Sheikh Mohammed, Osama bin Laden, and his deputy Mohammed Atef. Bin
Laden recommended four individuals for the plot. Khallad and al-Taizi were

both Yemeni citizens, thus not able to easily obtain visas to the United States.
The two Yemenis were assigned for the Asia component of the plot. When
Mohamed Atta and other members of the Hamburg cell arrived in
Afghanistan, he was involved in selecting them for the plot, and assigning Atta
to be the in charge .He met with Atta several more times for additional
instructions. The selection of hijackers was entirely a decision made by him.
Syed also is described as a key figure in the funding operation of Al-Qaeda,
the network headed by suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden. He
was far sighted and was successful in accomplishing his mission.

MOTIVATING NATURE:
A good leader is the one who does not have to force his followers but they
follow his directions willingly. In case of Osama, he convinced his followers up
to that extent that they were even willing to sacrifice their lives. Osama
motivated his followers.

SOME OF HIS WORDS TO MOTIVATE ARE MENTIONED HERE:

As long as we are alive, there will be no rest for the enemies of Islam. We
will continue our mission against them.
America is a great power possessed of tremendous military might and a
wide-ranging economy, but all this is built on an unstable foundation
which can be targeted, with special attention to its obvious weak spots.
Acquiring weapons for the defence of Muslims is a religious duty... If we
seek to acquire these weapons, we are carrying out a duty.
Any country that steps into the same trench as the Jews has only itself to
blame.
Any thief or criminal or robber who enters another country in order to
steal should expect to be exposed to murder at any time. For the
American forces to expect anything from me personally reflects a very
narrow perception.

GOAL SETTING

Goals provide the direction you need to reach your destination.

The best way to get results is to plan for the future.

Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Relevant
Time Bound

IN CASE OF OSAMA

He always used to set goals in his life, which he made sure that those goals
which he set are always accomplished, for that he used to monitor each and
every activity and always had a motivation to achieve his goals. Like we see
in 9/11 attack there his motivations to achieve goals were:
To remove presence of US military in Saudi Arabia.
For withdrawal of support to Israel by United States.
To suspend sanctions imposed against Iraq.

SOME OF THE GOALS ACHIVED BY OSAMA:

21 April 2004 Basra bombings were a series of large car bomb explosions
which ripped through Basra, Iraq.
The 2005 Musayyib bombing was a suicide attack on a marketplace in
Musayyib, Iraq, a town 35 miles south of Baghdad on July 16, 2005.
The 2003 Riyadh compound bombings occurred on 12 May 2003, in

OSAMA BIN LADEN

LIFE SKILLS

CONCLUSION

Osama was a true leader for many people. All the qualities we have spoken
here are not to glorify his image but rather to tell that a true leader, either good
or bad has some great qualities, Self-assessment, positive outlook, adaptability
to name a few.
A common man could not have led such a huge army for such a long time.
He had some leadership qualities which led him to guide such a big force like
al-Qaeda. When you give people a reason for their existence they follow you
blindly and you become their leader. This

is what Osama did, he gave the

extremists the meaning of jihad and to fight for what is theirs.

Osama had a positive attitude towards everything he did and till last didnt
gave up his mission of stopping American forces from taking over parts of
middle east Asia, he was resilient towards his goal, not a common thing we see
among leaders in todays world.
After his death in operation Neptune Spear by American SEALs his body was
not buried on land but in the sea. Some theories say that this is due to the fact
that wherever his body would have been buried, that place would have
become a holy place for jihadis. We may not realize it but everyone knew that
he was a person who influenced a big part of Muslim community.
We should definitely not adapt his ideologies in our lives but what we can learn
is that a leader must know how to be emotionally stable, he should be able to
be unbiased and should be focused towards the goals he wants to achieve
and be self-confident and motivated.
In the end we would like to conclude with an opinion that Osama may have
killed many people, he may have been an enemy of humanity but the fact is
that he was not born a terrorist, he was made one. No one would like to
become Osama the terrorist, but it would be great if there could be more
leaders like him.
