After researching seven different production company average genres, I come

to the conclusion New Line cinema would be more significant for me to use as
it conforms to the genre of my opening scene, which is a thriller. On the other
hand, the other six are more suitable to other genres like action and
adventure or comedy. After deciding only one of the seven conforms to the
genre of my opening sequence of shots, I decided to look into box office
views to deepen my understanding on total gross and give me a real insight
into how much on average my film could earn if it was produced by New Line
cinema. Box office is used in order to define a film as successful or not. Box
office facts and figures can be found on http://www.boxofficemojo.com and
after having a good look at the figures on total gross it become evident to me
that the best film for distributing films is 20th century fox with the staggering
figure of $749,766,139 overall. One of the least successful companies I have
looked at on the other hand was Columbia pictures and this is helpful as it
connotes to me they would not be a good company to produce my film. It is
evident to me that 20th century fox is a production company appealing to a
mass market whereas smaller companies like Columbia would be limited to a
niche market which means they would only appeal to a specific target
market. Despite 20th century fox being the most successful, it isn't relevant
to the demographic of my target audience as if I was to revert back to
average genres I mentioned earlier it signifies how this production company
is more adapted to action or adventure whereas my film is a thriller.
To conclude the research I have carried out I feel the production company
most suited to my film would be New Line cinema. I have come to this
decision based on the average genre, as it would appeal more to the
demographic of my target audience. Despite New Line cinema not earning
the most total gross in comparison to bigger companies like 20th century fox,
it is in fact subsidiary of Warner bros. and due to the fact this is a well known
company on a worldwide scale I feel it would still appeal to a mass target
audience and be successful.
