his month, indie rockers Bleeding Rose will from now on the only way was up for this indie
be taking their debut single ‘Loves Misery’
to the O2 Arena to play alongside the indie
rock legends of today and yester year such as
You Me At Six and Iron Maiden; but why Bleed-
ing Rose? In fact who actually are Bleeding
Rose? And what makes them so special?
Well, let’s go right back to the beginning. The
band originally started with the three guys in the
band Mark, Alex and Shaun. They weren’t called
Bleeding Rose, they were ‘The Chosen’ and
apart from the occasional pub and club gig they
weren’t really going anywhere. But then Char-
lotte came into their lives.
The guys first met Charlotte at the O2 Academy
in Sheffield, and gave the guys some advice on
how to improve their sound. Within a week, they
had become close friends and pretty soon dis-
covered Charlotte had a voice that suited their
sound perfectly. Bleeding Rose was formed.
The next step was getting their new and im-
proved sound heard. Luckily for the guys, Char-
lotte was the daughter of an upper middle class
TV company executive and she persuaded her
dad to let the band appear on Friday Night With
Jonathan Ross.
From this, the band went down a hit making the
Top 40 Indie chart, with their single ‘Loves Mis-
ery’ which they released via MySpace and then
opportunity after opportunity appeared for the
band. A deal was clinched with local record com-
pany Warp and since then they’ve never looked
back.
Within one week, their first major gig was booked
at Sheffield Arena, and a swift re-release of their
debut single ‘Loves Misery’ was made available
on iTunes. Not only that within one day of re-
lease, the band had more downloads than any
other previous indie band in the same time pe-
riod; it was now that we realised they were
something special. The band nobody ever gave
or wanted to give a chance to, had made it, and
phenomenon.

Over the next few months, following their new
found fame as the indie band that broke the
mould, Bleeding Rose went on their first UK tour,
going to 57 venues across the UK, including
Northern Ireland. During the tour the indie rock-
ers teamed up with the indie princess Hayley
Williams and the almighty Paramore which
turned the already phenomenal indie rockers
tour into an indie rampage across the UK, leav-
ing amazed fans in its wake.
What we need to consider now is what actually
made this indie phenomenon a phenomenon,
what actually made them so special?
You could argue many things, you have the
download records I mentioned earlier, you have
the unique sound, that rivals any previous indie
band, the bottom line is that they are unique,
they are independent and they had to give blood,
sweat and tears to get to where they are right
now, and in my opinion this is what makes them
so special.
So now the time and date are set, get ready to
experience indie history at the O2 Arena, when
Bleeding Rose take the stage with the other indie
legends of today and get ready for the experi-
ence of a lifetime!
