Final Assignment for The Future: I can create a Future City with my partners
For this assignment that will conclude the Dystopia Unit, I would like you to create a visual
representation of the future explained by a 3-4 page essay of your future to aid your
visual. This two part assignment is equally graded on the essay and the visual representation
as a point of reference to what is described in the essay. These essays must go beyond just
describing a scene it will be represented in your visual. Government, civilian happiness, and
conflict must also drive your paper. Is it a Utopian city? Dystopian? How is this city an advanced
version of what we read in the Kunstler piece? Try to create your city in response to The Long
Emergency and remember the video we watched of the student examples for future cities!
The diorama should represent visually, a component of your Future City- It does
not have to be the entire city!
The paper may be formatted in two different ways: A detailed outline using
headings and descriptive subheadings (non-fiction setup); or a story (fiction) about a
characters daily life in your city.
Papers must be submitted in MLA format with 12 pt. Times New Roman font,
page numbers, and 1-inch margins. Do not forget to have a catchy and informative title.
DO NOT EXCEED 12 pages!
