Extravaganza at Izumi Sushi, in Crescent
Village Road was another strong show-
ing. Estimates of about 85 “members”
joined together for networking and an-
other great party.
We pretty much owned the new bar, and
the crowd was in a talkative mood. Spir-
its were high and this was another terrific
Extravaganza! This event was a benefit
for the Red Cross, organized by Christine
Cameron.
The party was still going strong at 8pm,
when I left. We had another guest pho-
tographer, Craig Tomlinson, III, a bud-
ding young photojournalist.
Plan on coming to the Hop Valley for an-
other fun Extravaganza!, starting at 4pm.

Latino Business Network, LBN, is one networking group that
many of us may not think of. If I had to pick two groups that
had genuinely nice peo-
ple with great spirit, it
would be Extravaganza!
and LBN. Anna
Mercado is the 2010
Chair of LBN and she’s
making a special effort to
reach out to Extrava-
ganza!; being the smart
businesswoman that she
is, the value of Extrava-
ganza is readily apparent.
When you go to LBN, not only will you learn something and
have a good time, you’ll recognize some of our Extravaganza
regulars like: Jose DelGado, Lorenzo Herrera, Anna
Mercado, Ashley Valdez, Curt Rasmussen, Mike Grudzien
and Craig Tomlinson. Any of them will be glad to introduce
you around to fellow networkers. However, you won’t just
find the cast of usual suspects, but rather a lot of nice folks
you wouldn’t otherwise get to know. And, speaking Spanish
isn’t necessary, although you will hear it spoken.
LBN is officially part of the Eugene Chamber
(www.eugenechamber.com/latinobusiness.htm), but you
don’t have to be a Chamber member to come. A nominal fee
of $10 is collected at the door (only $8 if you pre-register)
and complimentary refreshments are usually served.

The primary mission of LBN is to support local Latino businesses and business people, and in
so doing, they also reach out to the non-Latino community-at-large. Nationally, there are more
than 1.5 million Hispanic-owned businesses generating over $200 billion in sales. Hispanics
represent a tremendous economic engine for our country, state, and region.
