3300 Crore Expansion Plan:

Domestic steel maker Prakash Industries has chalked out a Rs 3,300-crore expansion and diversification
programme for the next five years to meet the growing demand. At present, the New Delhi-based company has an
annual steel production capacity of 6 lakh tonnes which would be ramped up to 1 million tonne per annum (MTPA) in
two phases by 2011 at an estimated investment of Rs 100 crore.

Prakash Industries which supplies its products to firms like Reliance Industries, SAIL, JSW, said its margins will
further improve with the start of captive mining of iron ore mines in Chhattisgarh and Orissa later this year. Also,
apart from its captive coal block at nearby Chotia, the company will start mining from the two other deposits in
Chhattisgarh by August 2010. The company plans to invest Rs 150 crore in mine development over a period of time.
