Program Idea
The mission of the Enoch Pratt Free Library is To provide equal access to information and
services that empower, enrich, and enhance the quality of life for all. With this being said The
Enoch Pratt Free Library will form a daily 1-hour tutoring session and twice on Saturdays for
ages 5-18. The purpose of the program is to help students, parents and caregivers receive free
academic help after school hours in a small setting. With the increase number of student asking
for help with certain subject we would like to offer a planned out program to help fill this need

Potential Community Partners

While we will have a designated librarian to help students, we will be reaching out to the
community (ie. Teachers, Pastors, Community Leaders, etc.) For extra support. To help booster
the program we will also be partnering with the neighborhood schools, by meeting with teachers
and principals to find out the schools current curriculum and academic standings.

Steps
The steps necessary for this program are listed below
1. Space in the branch or at the school.
2. A maximum of 3 students per tutor(unless it is determined that a student needs more one
on one help)
3. A dedicated librarian or two that will be willing to help work the program
4. Support of not only the staff, but the community to become a catalyst to spread the word
about the program.
5. Outreach to find extra tutor who have a wide range of knowledge of different subjects.

Evaluate it
Once the program starts, we will create a tracker of how many children come for tutoring and
how many adult and peers come to help with the program. While numbers are good, the real
number we care about are the 100 we want to see our students getting on their papers and report
cards.
