The benefits of Exceed mLLDPE power pre-stretch films

As shown below, Exceed mLLDPE delivers benefits to customers who
wish to improve key product characteristics such as:
Tear and puncture resistance at higher pre-stretch levels
 Trouble-free and consistent performance
Performance improvement of one-sided cling film

*As used throughout this leaflet, Exceed means Exceed metallocene-based LLDPE.

Exceed mLLDPE success

A trial was carried out to identify the best formulations for PPS film
applications. The results were compared to a reference standard of
C8-LLDPE. In the trial, the following formulations were used:

puncture resistance.

High performance characteristics are further enhanced due to the

intrinsically very low gel level of Exceed mLLDPE. Gels can be a
source of hole formation during pre-stretching. The reduced gel
level in Exceed combined with the increased puncture resistance,
produces a higher ultimate stretch capability and a more reliable
and consistent wrapping operation.

Improved properties in one-sided cling PPS

Conventional one-sided cling films use medium-density LLDPE for
the non-cling layer. ExxonMobil Chemical has a specially designed
grade for this application.
Exceed 3527CB combines super toughness with a higher density
designed to achieve improved non-cling properties.

Typically, line speeds of 300-350m/min can be achieved dependent

on extruder capacity and winder design. However, some older
machines may record a 10% reduction due to torque limitations.

Cost savings
Exceed mLLDPE sets a new, high standard for the PPS film
industry. Exceed in PPS provides a stronger, higher-quality film
with a higher pre-stretch ratio than conventional LLDPE in PPS
film resulting in 10-15% less packaging material being needed
(fig. 3). Furthermore, a more reliable and consistent packaging
operation is achieved.

End-user benefits
Exceed mLLDPE-based PPS film will deliver a top quality, stronger
film resulting in:
A more reliable and consistent wrapping operation
Higher pre-stretch levels leading to a 10-15% savings in packaging
raw material
