Intersections

1) A square prism of, side base 45mm stands with its base on HP and two of its rectangular faces are
equally inclined to VP. It is completely penetrated by a horizontal square prism of side base 35mm
such that their axes are 8mm apart. The rectangular faces of the horizontal prism are equally
inclined to HP and its axis is parallel to VP. Draw the projections of the solid, showing the lines of
intersection.
2) A vertical square prism of, edges of base 45mm and height 85mm rests on ground plane on its
base, with a vertical face inclined at 60 to VP. It is penetrated by a square prism, edge of base
35mm and 90mm long, having one of its rectangular faces is inclined at inclined at 30 to the VP.
The axes of the prism bisect each other. Draw the projections of the solids showing curves of
intersection.
3) A vertical cylinder of diameter 150mm and 225mm long is completely penetrated by a horizontal
cylinder diameter 126mm and 210mm long. The axis of the horizontal cylinder is parallel to VP
and 10mm in front of the axis of the vertical cylinder. Draw the projection of the solid showing the
lines of intersection.
4) A vertical hexagonal prism base side 75mm and 210mm long is completely penetrated by a square
prism 75mm side and 210mm long. The axis of the horizontal prism is parallel to VP and 4mm in
front of the axis of the hexagonal prism. Draw the projections of the prisms showing the lines of
intersection if one of the one of the rectangular faces of the vertical prism is parallel to VP and all
the faces of the horizontal prism is equally inclined to HP.
5) A vertical cylinder of 70mm diameter is penetrated by another cylinder of same size. The axis of
the penetrating cylinder is parallel to HP and VP and is 9mm away from the axis of the vertical
cylinder. Draw the projections showing lines of intersection.
6) A horizontal cylinder of 45mm diameter and 100mm long penetrates a vertical cylinder of 70mm
diameter and 80mm height, resting on HP. The two axes are coplanar. The axis of the horizontal
cylinder is 40mm above the HP. Draw the projection of the solids showing the curves of
intersection.
7) A vertical cylinder of 72mm diameter and 80mm long is penetrated by another horizontal cylinder,
56mm diameter and 100mm long. The axis of the horizontal cylinder is parallel to VP and 6mm in
front of the axis of the vertical cylinder. Draw the projections showing the lines of intersections.
8) A right circular cylinder of diameter 60mm and height 90mm resting on its base in HP. It is
completely penetrated by another cylinder of diameter 45mm and 90mm long such that their axis
bisects each other at right angles and are parallel to VP. Draw the projections showing lines of
intersection.
9) A vertical pentagonal prism of base edges 30mm and height 60mm is resting on its base with one
base edge is perpendicular to VP. A square prism of 30mm base edge and 70mm height penetrates
through the vertical prism in such a way that the axis bisects each other at right angles. If the faces
of the penetrating prisms are equally inclined to HP and the axis parallel to VP, draw the
projections of the solids showing the line intersection.
10) A vertical cylinder of 60mm diameter is met by another cylinder of same size. Draw the line of
intersection, when the axis intersects at 60.
11) A vertical square prism side of base 50mm and is penetrated by a horizontal triangular prism of
base side 30mm such that axes are offset by 6mm. The faces of the square prism are equally
inclined to VP while one of the faces of the triangular prism is inclined at 30 to the HP. Draw the
lines of intersection.
12) A vertical square prism, side of base 50mm has its face equally inclined to VP. It is completely
penetrated by another square prism of base 30mm side, the axis of which is parallel to both the
planes and is 6mm away the axis of the vertical prism and nearer to VP. The faces of the horizontal
cylinder are equally inclined to the VP. Draw the projections of the solids showing the lines of
intersection. Assume the length of the both prisms is 100mm.
