Experience Establishing Aerobics Club

The most remarkable experience in college was establishing and then

leading the schools Aerobics Club to compete in competitions. Aerobics
is one kind of sports emphasizing the coordination and teamwork. My
experience in Aerobics Club taught me how to work in a team
environment and how to make the best decisions as the teams leader.

Starting the Aerobics Club

The work I accomplished to meet the
requirements of establishing a formal
on-campus student club:
1. Recruit five students interested in
aerobics to become the initial members
2. Negotiated with a faculty member and
convinced her to become the adviser
3. Prepared for the Club-Establishment
Defense Assembly to earn the
committees approval

Upon establishing the Aerobics Club, our first step was to recruit new members,
We used three channels to promote our new organization. Through our efforts,
we eventually recruited 20 club members!

To earn an invitation to the Beijing Regional

Aerobics competition, we needed to rank
Top 16 in the first round qualifying game.
Among the 20 members, only a handful
possess Aerobics training. I worked with
Miss Yu (advisor) to design the routine, and
then divided the team into 4 groups to
practice the moves individually according to
their proficiency level and class schedule.
The whole team got together every
Thursday and Sunday for 4 hours to
practice formations.

Process of our training became the biggest challenge

Problem

A couple of key members

could not keep up with the
time commitment and left the
team. It was difficult to find
times when everyone could
meet for training.

Solutions

Held one-on-one conversations

with each team member to
explain the important role they
VS
played on the team and
encouraged them to organize
better their schedule.
Reduced training time, but
required every member to be
punctual to improve the training
efficiency.

Team Achievement

We became united team

After three months of hard work, not only did we enter the regional, but also
won the 2nd place in the competition! Everybody was so excited about the
result that not a single team member left after the competition. Those team
members who did not compete, worked as the cheerleaders. We celebrated as
a united team!

More Achievements
Having a good start in our first step, we achieved
more in the following competitions. Usually, we
often have to train for 4 hours four times one
week before each competition. I mainly paid
attention to the training efficiency by working with
the adviser and other core members to design
the routine ahead of time and to encourage all
the members to keep the time.
Personal Achievement:
Outstanding Athlete of Beijing

Continuous Improvement
Apart from obtaining excellent
results from in competitions, we
also expanded our influence oncampus to attract more students to
enjoy aerobics. Attracting
motivated members made our
team more competitive for
competitions. The number of club
members increased every year.

Best wishes to my loved Aerobics Club

In my senior year, I stepped aside so
that new leaders could guide the club. It
was tough to let go, but it was the best
decision for the club's growth. With more
systematic training and additional
resources, the team went one step
further to win the 1st place in the 2015
national competition. The number of club
members grew to 80. Although I was no
longer the leader, I was even prouder of
their achievement than mine the year
before! A real leader always puts the
team first.
