Manual concerning basic safety information, significance of symbols and personal responsibility.

General

Safety regulations
The safety regulations contained in the operating
instructions are applicable, which are also supplied
with the Arsoma EM 280.
Authorized personnel
Only those personnel are authorized to work with
and on the plate mounting unit who:

possess the qualifications described in the individual working sectors (in the general section of
the main chapter).

have a sound knowledge of the safety regulations in the Arsoma EM 280 operating instructions.

The plate mounting unit is an integral part of the

Arsoma EM 280 label printing machine from Gallus
F. Resch AG and must only be used in conjunction
with this.
The operating instructions should be used for all subjects not included here.
Purpose of use
The plate mounting unit is used for fixing plates with
adhesive foil to the plate cylinder used in the printing
unit.

The plate mounting unit should be placed on a stable

surface so that the operator can work while standing.

Mounting plate
1. Insert adhesive foil roll (1) in insert spindle (2) (2
adhesive foil dispensers).

2. Clamp plate cylinder between supporting mandrels (3), gearwheel side (4) of plate cylinder must
point to the left.
3. Fold up adhesive foil dispenser (5).
4. Feed adhesive foil under cutting edge (6). Lower
plate supporting table (7) with hand lever (8) down
to a few millimetres above the plate cylinder.

5. Attach adhesive foil to plate cylinder so that the

foil can be cut at right angles in the notch in the
plate cylinder.

6. Connect plate mounting unit to compressed air

supply with pneumatic hose and plug coupling.

Unlock drive lever (3) and fold up until the gearwheel of the drive lever meshes with the gearwheel
of the plate cylinder.
The plate cylinder is moved and the adhesive foil
wound on by turning the handwheel (1) clockwise.
After one revolution of the plate cylinder, the
adhesive foil can then be cut off at the cutting
edge (6).

8. Fold up adhesive foil dispenser (2). Align plate

roughly under the transparent Plexiglas sheet (4)
and adjust exactly with the two levers (7) at left
and right on the plate mounting unit. The engraved black horizontal and vertical lines serve as
an aid for this purpose. Remove protective foil
from adhesive foil (5).

9. Fix start of plate on plate cylinder (align with pile).

10. Unlock with drive lever (3), draw on plate by
turning handwheel (1) clockwise and press tight
by hand. Then make visual check of register
marks.

Mounting plate
11. Remove plate cylinder from mounting unit by
opening the supporting mandrel (1).
12. Raise adhesive foil dispenser (3) with hand lever.
13. Swing drive lever (5) away.
