Abstract:
From 1960s to 1980s, maturing architectural trade magazines of Hong Kong illustrated the emerging

consciousness of architecture in Hong Kong, as both a discipline and a body of public knowledge.
Based on a brief review of these magazines, this paper seeks to identify the formation of an urbanism
about contemporary Hong Kong.

Key words:
trade magazine, urban consciousness, urbanism, modernism, colonialism
