Barshasketh / Void Ritual

Split
Broken Limbs
17 February 2015
Scotland-based Barshasketh and USBM act Void Ritual have paired up for this stunning,
sprawling split to be released on February 17, 2015 by Broken Limbs.
Limited to 100 copies on black shell cassettes.
---------------BARSHASKETH: The band was formed in 2007 as a solo project by Krigeist. After two
well received demos via Wolfsvuur Records, the debut album Defying the Bonds of
Cosmic Thralldom emerged in 2010. Initially limited to a small tape run, it was later reprinted on CD in 2013 by Razed Soul Productions. Following the release of the first full
length, Krigeist relocated to Scotland after travelling through south-east Asia. After
settling there, he went about piecing together a live lineup and a series of live
performances followed, culminating with a show in support of Negative Plane. Out of
this live lineup, GM (guitars and vocals) was made a permanent member and BH was
recruited on drums. This trio recorded the second full-length, Sitra Achra, released in
2013 through Todestrieb Records. The band toured extensively in support of Sitra
Achra, playing alongside bands such as Esoteric, Wodensthrone and Negura Bunget to
name a few. A split release with Krawwl was recorded and released in 2014 through
Human Jigsaw, which marks the first recording featuring bassist BB. With the lineup
now complete, Barshasketh recorded a second split release, this time with USBM band
Void Ritual and went on to record a third full length, Ophidian Henosis at the infamous
Necromorbus Studio in Stockholm, both releases will surface in 2015 and undoubtedly
present the band's best work to date.
Comprising of two tracks, Barshasketh's side of the split is a return to the primal origins
of the band. "Palingenesis" is a re-recording of the very first Barshasketh track that was
ever written, now revisited with a new intensity.
Krigeist: Guitar and Vocals, GM: Guitar and Vocals, BB: Bass, BH: Drums
Recorded at Chamber Studio (Edinburgh) by Graeme Yound. Mixed and mastered by
Tom Walker.
VOID RITUAL: Void Ritual is a one-man black metal project by Daniel Jackson out of

Albuquerque, NM. In the summer of 2014, Void Ritual released Holodomor, its debut
through Tridroid Records. The goal was simple: craft powerful, memorable black metal
with a reverence for black metals second wave. The lyrical theme was focused around
death and the man-made famine for which the EP is named.
Void Ritual has contributed three songs to this split with Scotlands Barshasketh. While
the music is a continuation of the sound established on Holodomor, its also much uglier
and more melodic. The lyrics deal with horrific cults in recent history, their bizarre
theology and violent conclusions: the Heavens Gate, Paradise, and Order of the Solar
Temple cults.
All instruments by Daniel Jackson. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Daniel Jackson.
