About CofCRadio
College of Charleston Radio provides the College of Charleston community with independent music and
programming. CofCRadio can be heard via the Internet at www.cofcradio.com and through the closed circuit
television station in the residence halls. The station broadcasts 24 hours each day, 12 of those hours include a disc
jockey manning the studio and the other 12 must be managed by an automated system.

CofCRadio
Public Relations & Events Manager! ! ! ! Student Employee (part-time)

The Public Relations & Events Manager will work closely with the general manager to oversee all of CofCradioʼs
public relations, marketing, events and other external affairs. The Public Relations & Events Manager will also
work closely with the Networkʼs Public Relations Manager. The Public Relations & Events Manager is expected to
be a high energy, motivated individual with a desire to push the station forward.

Requirements

• One year of public relations, event planning or relevant experience, classwork accepted

• Previous experience with Adobe Creative Suite

Hours! ! ! 10 hours per week, night and weekend availability required

Start Date! ! August 2010

Compensation!! $2,500 ($8.92 per hour)

Job Responsibilities

• Develop a strategy for CofCRadioʼs continued communication with the Charleston community;

• Oversee the Public Relations and Event Committees to promote and manage CofCRadio events;

• Handle all external affairs for CofCRadio alongside the General Manager;

• Maintain a relationship with the community as a liaison for the station;

• Work with the Director of Online Publishing to maintain CofCRadioʼs web presence on CisternYard.com;

• Serve as Event Manager for all CofCRadio events;

• Work with the Networkʼs Public Relations Manager on marketing and promotions.

Qualifications

• Previous work with local media outlets or Cougar Media Network organization(s)

• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

• General working knowledge of office equipment (fax machine, copier, etc.)

• Ability to maintain confidentiality when required

• Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision

• Ability to use human relations skills to interact with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and to exhibit a
positive, helpful attitude

• Ability to work and maintain focus in a chaotic, high-energy environment


CofCRadio
Office Assistant!! ! ! ! ! ! ! Student Employee (part-time)

The Office Assistant will help with various tasks around the CofCRadio office and will be in direct communication
with the General Manager and the Public Relations & Events Manager. The Office Assistant is expected to be a
high energy, motivated individual with a desire to push the station forward.

Requirements

• Interest in working in media, specifically radio

• Previous experience with Mac OS X and Microsoft Office

Hours! ! ! 6 hours per week, night and weekend availability required

Start Date! ! August 2010

Compensation!! $1,400 ($8.33 per hour)

Job Responsibilities

• Assist staff members with daily operations;

• Organize and maintain CofCRadioʼs music library;

• Coordinate DJ application and training processes;

• Assist Public Relations & Events Manager during the planning and production of CofCRadio events.

Qualifications

• Previous work with local media outlets or Cougar Media Network organization(s)

• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

• General working knowledge of office equipment (fax machine, copier, etc.)

• Ability to maintain confidentiality when required

• Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision

CofCRadio
Technical Director! ! ! ! ! ! ! Student Employee (part-time)

The Technical Director will oversee all technical aspects of CofCRadio, including maintenance and upkeep of the
stationʼs two studios and will serve as the director of remote broadcasts. The Technical Director will work closely
with the CofCRadio staff to make sure the station runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

Requirements

• One year of broadcast or relevant experience

• Previous experience with Mac OS X, Garage Band, MegaSeg, and Logic Express

• Advanced knowledge of audio production and broadcast equipment

Hours! ! ! 10 hours per week, night and weekend availability required

Start Date! ! August 2010

Compensation!! $2,200 ($7.85 per hour)

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain a complete understanding of the operations of CofCRadioʼs main broadcast studio and production
studio as well as remote broadcasting equipment;

• Install and perform maintenance on CofCRadio property;

• Ensure all staff members and disc jockeys fully understand how to operate all of the studio equipment,
including any new equipment acquired throughout the year;

• Report all equipment malfunctions to the General Manager and begin repair/replacement process promptly;

• Participate in intense training with the Collegeʼs broadcast engineer at the General Managerʼs request;

• Serve as the “on-call” member of the CofCRadio staff.
