Section 6 Gaps in your employment

If there are any gaps in your employment history, e.g. looking after children, sabbatical year, please give details
and dates.

Section 7 Interests
Please give details of your interests, hobbies or skills and, in particular, any which could be of benefit to the School
for the purposes of enriching its extracurricular activity.

I am a keen skier and have been skiing for 12 years as well as working a ski season. I can
snowboard as well, but I have only had a weeks practice.

I have been playing competitive netball since I was 10 and currently play for two local

leagues
as well as for my university first team.

I am fully trained in high ropes, low ropes and other outdoor adventure activities. I worked
for three months at a summer camp in Pennsylvania where my daily routines were working

on the rock climbing wall supporting and teaching kids rock climbing, abseiling, zip lining and
high
ropes. I also spent a lot of my time mountain biking and hiking.

Section 8 Suitability
Please give your reasons for applying for this post and say why you believe you are suitable for the position. Study
the job description and person specification and describe any experience and skills you have gained in other jobs
or similar environments which demonstrate your ability and aptitude to undertake the duties of the post.
Continue on a separate sheet if necessary.

Godolphin
& Latymer's excellent reputation for its teaching and learning environment, and
innovative curriculum, are factors towards this application. My own ambitions and

determination
to further develop as an outstanding and innovative teacher, are shared by the
departments vision for excellence, and I feel that this environment can only be an advantage
achieving this. I believe the role as Physical Education teacher at your school would be a
in
great place to undertake my NQT year.

The PGCE and my teaching placements have provided me with an opportunity to approach

PE in a new and innovative way. I have observed and implemented a range of teaching
strategies
and opportunities, in order to allow pupils to become more independent learners.

I strongly believe in giving students a choice, and through a structured approach, providing
opportunities
for them to take responsibility for, and enhance their own learning experience,

within Physical Education. I hold the belief that Physical Education builds character and
confidence
and there should be opportunities for all pupils to access this at their own

individual level.

Throughout my placement, I have further increased my knowledge and understanding of the

practical,
theoretical and assessment elements of PE. Effective summative and formative
assessment strategies have enabled me to make informed decisions about future planning,
order to meet the needs of the pupils. As a result, I have challenged myself to think of
in
new and innovative methods, including extensive use of ICT, to deliver the curriculum in

order
to differentiate and challenge pupils of varying abilities and offering alternative learning
opportunities. I would relish the opportunity to further develop these learning strategies at

your school.

I feel that Godolphin & Latymer's range of extra-curricular opportunities plays a major role in
enabling
pupils to lead a healthy, active lifestyle. I have a committed approach to

extra-curricular provision and the skills learnt through my CPD qualifications have been an
important
part of my own teacher development. This has meant that I can provide a range of

enriched opportunities, in both traditional and alternative activities, for a wider range of
students.
In particular, I have a vast amount of experience in netball as I play regularly at a

competitive level in two different local leagues and I have coached extra-curricular netball at

school
for pupils aged 11-16. I believe extra-curricular activities will increase the likelihood of
pupils leading healthy lifestyles and I hope to incorporate these within your extra-curricular

programme.
important role at Godolphin & Latymer school is to be a caring community and my role as
An
form tutor has provided me with an opportunity to demonstrate this. This role has allowed

me
to connect with pupils and liaise with pastoral staff and parents outside of the PE
department, in order to promote and ensure the development and well-being of individual

students.

Having
shown evidence of outstanding practice across many different areas throughout my
PGCE placement, I feel that this post at Godolphin & Latymer would be a great platform from

which
to develop my teaching career. I will bring energy, creativity and commitment to the
Department and would like the opportunity to be part of further developing the Departments

and
the schools reputations.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss the
position and my experience with you.

Section 9 Criminal records

An offer of employment is conditional upon the School receiving an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and
Barring Service (DBS) which the School considers to be satisfactory. The School applies for an Enhanced Check for
Regulated Activity from the DBS (which includes a check of the Children's Barred List) in respect of all positions at the

be declared, subject to the DBS filtering rules referred to at the end of this form. If you have a criminal record this
will not automatically debar you from employment. Instead, each case will be assessed fairly by reference to the
School's objective assessment procedure (a copy of which is available from the School on request).
Before answering these questions, please see the information on Spent Convictions and the DBS filtering rules at
the end of this form.
Have you been convicted by the courts of any criminal offence? Yes No
Is there any relevant court action pending against you? Yes No
Have you ever received a caution, reprimand or final warning from the police? Yes No

be your current or most recent employer. If your current/most recent employment does/did not involve work
with children, then your second referee should be from your employer with whom you most recently worked with
