ST.

COLUMBA CATHOLIC CHURCH

January 24, 2016
Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

SAN DIEGO

In humility we must strive to create a culture that does

not accept sin, while realizing that we all fall at times.

In a couple of weeks, St.

Columba will launch our
own App for iPhone and
Android smart phones.
This will allow us to better communicate with
you throughout the week
and keep you updated
with relevant parish
news or updates.
The App is very well designed and very intuitive. It will be a great resource
for parishioners by providing daily Mass readings,
Catholic news and prayers, convenient prayer and
Confession reminders, our bulletins, and more.
We hope our new App will be a tool for fostering
stronger parish life at St. Columba. Please watch
for our official launch announcement.

Don't judge, but guide others towards the path of salvation (see Mt 7:1-2).

St. Columba Church Childrens Choir

When you correct someone, don't be arrogant. We are all

in need of God's loving correction.

The St. Columba Church Childrens Choir is seeking new

singers in grades 3 to 12. Students must be able to attend
weekly rehearsals on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. as well as
sing at the 5:30 vigil Mass. Students will learn hymns
and sacred choral literature, music theory and learn to
sight-sing. No previous experience is needed and there is
no cost to become a member, just a willingness to share
your time and talent. Ms. Mawanay will be available after the 5:30 p.m. Saturday Mass. Please come by and
meet me or email me at stcolumbasings@gmail.com.

Year of Mercy
The Spiritual Works of Mercy have long been a part of the
Christian tradition, appearing in the works of theologians
and spiritual writers throughout history. Just as Jesus
attended to the spiritual well-being of those he ministered to, these Spiritual Works of Mercy guide us to "help
our neighbor in their spiritual needs."
Admonishing the Sinner
Do not judge, but be supportive in helping others find
their way and correct their mistakes. Together we can
learn to walk more closely with Christ.

We should journey together to a deeper understanding of

our shared faith.
"Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you
will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's
eye" (Mt 7:5)

Catholic Schools Week

Sunday, January 31

One of the most important weeks of our school year is

the celebration of Catholic Schools Week. We celebrate a school dedicated to living and teaching the
gospel message of Jesus Christ, and celebrate our
uniqueness as a family community.
We want to welcome our St. Columba families, parishioners, and friends to join us January 31st for 9:30
Mass. Our school choir will be singing at this special
Mass.
Following Mass, our Open House will be from 10:30
a.m. till noon. We invite you to visit our classrooms,
preschool and computer lab. Bring a family who
might be interested in finding out more about our
school, and why Catholic Education is the gift that
lasts a lifetime.
