Windows 08

Windows 10

Windows 8 is a Microsoft operating

system that was released in 2012 as
part of the company's Windows NT
OS family. Windows 8 represents a
major departure from previous
versions of Windows because it is
based on the Metro design language,
which facilitates a touchscreen UI
(user interface) similar to the ones
found in mobile phones and tablet
computers.

Windows 10 is designed to be
compatible with the hardware,
software, and peripherals you already
own. And always-enabled updates help
you stay current on features and
security for the supported lifetime of
your device.
Microsofts Windows 10 seems like a big
change. The version number alone is a big
leap from Windows 7, and most of the default
apps are new-style universal apps, not
traditional desktop apps.

GAMING AND MULTIMEDIA

Windows 8's default Games app already

provides a basic connection between
your PC and your Xbox Live account.
Within its walled garden, you can track
your Xbox gaming history, buy new
games that download directly to your
console, view your achievements and
Friends List.

Gaming just got even better with

Windows 10. Not only do your existing
games work great, but now you can
play and connect with gamers across
Xbox One and Windows 10 devices.
From the best casual games to a new
generation of PC gaming, Windows 10
is built for games you love.

Online services and functionality

Windows 8 provides heavier integration with

online services from Microsoft and others. A
user can now log in to Windows with
a Microsoft account, which can be used to
access services
and synchronize applications and settings
between devices.
Windows 8 also adds an integrated airplane
mode setting to globally disable all wireless
connectivity as well.

Windows 10 optionally have their

device automatically connect to
suggested open hotspots, and share
their home network's password with
contacts (either via Skype, People, or
Facebook) so they may automatically
connect to the network on a Windows
10 device without needing to
manually enter its password.
Credentials are stored in an
encrypted form Windows 10 also
offers the Wi-Fi Sense feature
originating from Windows Phone 8.1;
users can on Microsoft servers, and

contacts. Passwords are not viewable
by the guest user, and the guest user
is not allowed to access other
computers or devices on the network

Editions and pricing

Windows 8 is available in three different

editions, of which the lowest version, branded
simply as Windows 8, and Windows 8 Pro,
were sold at retail in most countries, and as
pre-loaded software on new computers.
Retail distribution of Windows 8 has since been
discontinued in favor of Windows 8.1. Unlike 8,
8.1 is available as "full version software" at
both retail and online for download that does
not require a previous version of Windows in
order to be installed

Windows 10 is available in four main

editions, of which the Home and Pro
versions are sold at retail in most
countries, and as pre-loaded software
on new computers. Home is aimed at
home users, while Pro is aimed at
small businesses and enthusiasts.
Each edition of Windows 10 includes
all of the capabilities and features of
the edition below it, and add
additional features oriented towards
their market segments.

Exceptions to the restrictions faced by Windows

Store apps are given to web browsers.
The developers of
both Chrome and Firefox committed to
developing Metro-style versions of their
browsers; while Chrome's "Windows 8 mode"
uses a full-screen version of the existing
desktop interface, Firefox's version (which was
first made available on the "Aurora" release
channel in September 2013) uses a touchoptimized interface inspired by theAndroid
version of Firefox.

Windows 10 gives you absolutely the

best experience for doing what you
do. Stay focused with easy ways to
snap apps in place and optimize your
screen space for getting things done.
See your open tasks in a single view
and create virtual desktops to gain
space or group things by project, like
Office apps for work and games for
play.

SOFTWARE COMPABILITY
The 64-bit version runs on CPUs compatible
with x86 8th generation (known as x86-64, or
x64) or newer, and can run 32-bit and 64bit programs. 32-bit programs and operating
system are restricted to supporting
only 4 gigabytes of memory while 64-bit
systems can theoretically support 2048
gigabytes of memory

Windows 10 is serviced in a significantly

different manner from previous releases of
Windows. Its delivery is often described by
Microsoft as a "service", due to its ongoing
updates, with Terry Myerson explaining that
Microsoft's aim is that "the question 'what
version of Windows are you running' will
cease to make sense."
