PGP Admissions Policy and Procedure for the Academic Year 2016 2017

IIMK adopts a twostage selection process and accordingly these selection criteria are applied in two
stages.Thefirststageprocessappliestoalleligiblecandidates(whoappearforCAT2015andregistered
onlineforadmissiontoIIMK)todeterminethosequalifyingcandidateswhowillbecalledforpersonal
interview(PI).
1.AllcandidatesmeetingtherequirementsmentionedinTable1areeligibleforconsiderationtothestage1
shortlisting.

2.SSC/XandHSC/XIIpercentagesmentionedabovewillbetakenfromCAT2015registrationdatabasewhich
willbetreatedasfinal.
3.FromalltheeligiblecandidateswhoregisterwithIIMKashortlistofcandidateswillbepreparedbasedon
the Aggregate Index Score. This score is computed based on the performance in CAT 2015, Class XII and
Bachelorsdegreeperformanceandothertraitsrelevantformanagementeducation.Originals(andcopies)of
allcertificates(academics/reservationcategory/experience)mustbeproducedforverificationatthetimeof
PI.AnycandidatefailingtoproduceanyoftheoriginalcertificateswillbedisqualifiedfromattendingthePI.
TheAggregateIndexScorecalculationdetailsaregiveninthesubsequentparagraphs.
a.CATIndexScore:
PerformanceinCATisanimportantinputintheadmissionprocess.Candidatesshouldnotethatitis
importanttoperformwellineachsectionofthetest.ScaledScoresfromboththesections(withequal
weightages)ofCAT2015willgointothecomputationoftheCATIndexScore.CATIndexScorewill
carryaweightof75%.
b.GraduationIndexScore:
i. Table 2 shows the computation of the Graduate Index Score. For those who completed their
Bachelorsdegreethepercentagemarksreportedintheirmarks/gradesheetwillbeconsidered.
ii.PercentagemarksforincompleteBachelorsdegreeapplicantsarebasedontheiravailablemarks,
certifiedbyaheadoftheinstitution.ThePrincipal/HeadoftheDepartment/Registrar/Directorofthe
university/institution has to certify that those are the latest available marks, without which the
candidatebecomeineligibleforthegraduationindexscore.
iii.ForthosecandidateshavingclearedCA/ICWAI/CSwithouthavingBachelorsdegree,theiraverage
ofintermediateandfinallevelmarkswillbetreatedasBachelorsdegreemarks.
iv.Forbachelorsdegree,thepercentageofmarksawardedbyInstitute/Universitywillbetreatedas
final.IftheInstitute/Universitydoesnotawardthepercentageofmarks,itwillbecalculatedonthe
basisofthemarksobtainedinallsubjectslistedinthemarksheet.

v. If the percentage of marks awarded by Institute/University does not take into account marks
obtainedinallthesubjectsasmentionedinthemarksheet(s)foralltheyears,thecandidatesmust
produce a certificate from the Principal/Head of the Department/Registrar/Director of the
university/institutioncertifyingdetailsofthepracticeatthetimeoftheGD/WATPI,ifshortlistedfor
thesame.
vi. If any Board/Institute/University awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent
percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the
Board/Institute/Universityspecifyingtheequivalentmarks.Theoriginalequivalencecertificateneeds
to be submitted at thetime of GD/WATPI, if shortlisted for the same. Obtaining the equivalence
certificateistheresponsibilityofcandidates.
vii.Forcandidateshavinga5yearintegratedMaster'sdegree,thepercentageofmarksobtainedin
thefirst3yearswillbeconsideredasbachelorsdegreepercentage.

Previous work/professional experience will carry a weight of up to 5% depending on the length of
serviceasonJanuary31,2016,asshowninTable4.Onlyfulltimemanagerialworkexperienceafter
graduationwillbeconsidered.Training/Projectwork/workcompletedasanintegralpartofcurricular
requirementwillnotbeconsidered.

5. The shortlisted candidates will have to register at IIMK website and complete the personal profile form
online.Onlythosecandidateswhocompleteonlineregistrationatrelevantstageswillonlybeconsideredfor
thesubsequentprocess.
6.Inthesecondstage,theshortlistedcandidateswillhavetoappearforaGD/WATfollowedbyaPersonal
Interview(PI).ThePIprocesswilllastfor ahalfday(morningorafternoon)sessionwherethecandidate
willbewritingashortnoteandparticipateingroupdiscussiononatopicprovidedbyIIMK.Thetopicwill
be announced at the venue just before the GD/WAT. The topics will typically reflect current political,
economic, sports, business affairs, etc. During the interview, the panel will evaluate each candidate's
performanceonacademicbackground,qualityofworkexperienceandotherpersonaltraits.

7.AftertheconclusionofPIandGD/WAT,thefinalscoreswillbecomputed(Table7)basedontheperformance
inCAT2015,PI,GD/WAT,andqualityofprofessional experience.Categorywise meritlistwill beprepared
based on the final scores. Admission offers will be made to candidates following the merit list as per the
GovernmentofIndiareservationnorms.

Additionalinformation(thecandidatesareadvisedtoreadthemcarefully)
1. CandidateswhoappearforCAT2015andregisteredonlineforadmissiontoIIMKonlywillbeconsidered
forStage1shortlisting.Meetingtheminimumeligibilitycriteriawillnotautomaticallyqualifyacandidate
foradmissiontoIIMK.
2. Each IIM shortlists candidates for GD/WAT and PI based on their own criteria. Hence it is possible to
observevariationsinthelistsofcandidatesshortlistedbydifferentIIMs.
3. ThecandidatesshortlistforPIwillbemadeavailableontheIIMKwebsitearoundthelastweekofJanuary
2016.Theinterviewcallletters,venuedetails,etc.willbemadeavailableontheIIMKwebsiteandthe
candidatesneedtodownloadthesame. TheStage1shortlistedcandidateswhohavecompletedtheir
personalprofileformonlineonlycanattendthePI.
4. SubsequenttotheGD/WATandPI,themeritlistforadmissionswillbepreparedaroundthelastweekof
April/firstweekofMay2016.Therequirednumberofadmissionoffers(availableontheIIMKwebsite)will
be made from the merit list, in the order, following the Government of India reservation policy. Hard
copiesoftheadmissionofferswillbeissuedonlytothosecandidateswhosendthecompletedoffer
acceptanceformtogetherwithpaymentdetails.
5. Alimitednumberofcandidateswillbekeptinthewaitlist.Offerstothecandidatesinthewaitinglistwill
dependuponthenumberofcandidatesnotacceptingtheinitialoffersfromthemeritlist.
6. AllthecandidatesareadvisedtochecktheirregisteredemailsregularlyandvisittheIIMKswebsitefor
updatesonadmissionrelatedactivities.
7. Ifacandidatefailstoconfirmtheadmissionformalitieswithinthestipulatedtimeperiod,forwhatsoever
reasons,theseatwillbeforfeitedbyhim/herandthenextcandidateinthewaitinglistwillgettheoffer.
Nocommunicationwillbeentertainedinthisregard.
8. IIMKreservestherighttochange,modifyoradoptanynewadmissionpolicyandprocesstocomplywith
Government/ Judicial requirements or that it deems necessary and which best suits its purpose of
identifyingandadmittingthemostappropriatecandidatestothepostgraduateprogramme.
9. IIMK does not share any responsibilities with other institutions using the merit list of IIMK for their
admissions.Nocommunicationswithanycandidateswillbeentertainedinthisregard.
10. AcandidatereceivingtheadmissionofferfromIIMKozhikodeandacceptingtheofferwithinthestipulated
dateneedstosendalongwithofferacceptanceanofferacceptanceamountofRs.50,000/Thecandidate
willhavetoregisterontheregistrationdayfortheprogrammeandpaythenecessaryfeestocomplete
the admission process. A candidate withdrawing from the programme can get the fee refunded after
deducting the processing charges as per govt. norms (F. No. 21I66/2007TS. II). If the withdrawal is
happeningaftertheclosureoftheadmissionwindow(June30,2016orearlier)wheretheseatwillremain
vacant,norefundofthefeewillbemade.

Any dispute concerning Admissions during academic year 2016 would besubjectto jurisdiction ofthe competentCourtswithinthe
