Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Divine Mercy Conference

Year of Mercy

February 5 & 6

The Spiritual Works of Mercy have long been a part of the

Christian tradition, appearing in the works of theologians
and spiritual writers throughout history. Just as Jesus
attended to the spiritual well-being of those he ministered to, these Spiritual Works of Mercy guide us to "help
our neighbor in their spiritual needs."
Comforting the Sorrowful
Be open to listening and comforting those who are dealing with grief. Even if we aren't sure of the right words to
say, our presence can make a big difference.
Lend a listening ear to those going through a tough
time.
Make a home-cooked meal for a friend who is facing a
difficult time.
Write a letter or send a card to someone who is
suffering.
A few moments of your day may make a lifetime of difference to someone who is going through a difficult time.

Socks, Socks, Socks!

The St. Columba Youth Group will hold their next Outreach to the homeless downtown on Feb. 3rd. They are
asking for parishioners support by donating socks, which
can be dropped off at the Ministry Center or the rectory.
Last December, the group passed out 300+ pairs of socks,
as well as 180 cups of hot chocolate and 160 snack bags.
Help them touch even more people with an open heart
and a spirit of giving. For more information, contact
Robin at 619-922-7941 or by email:

In this great Jubilee Year of Mercy, please consider attending the 18th Annual Divine Mercy Conference, on
February 5 and 6, at San Juan Diego Center at Mission San Antonio de Pala. Registration flyers can be
found in the church vestibule. For more information, go
to www.sddivinemercy.org. Hope to see you there.

Souper Bowl of Caring

February 6 & 7

The Souper Bowl of Caring collection is next weekend.

The youth of our parish will be at the doors after all
the Masses with their soup pots to collect for the
homeless in our community. This is a nationwide collection where the totals collected at each church are
reported but kept in our community to help those in
need. Please help support our youth as they continue
their service work with their Outreach Program.

What are you doing with your plastic bottles and aluminum cans? The Youth Group has been collecting
them to help fund their Confirmation retreats and
their attendance at Steubenville. This is an ongoing
fundraiser and has helped send youth who would not
otherwise be able to attend to experience either of
these very important events.
You can help easily by dropping
off your plastic bottles and aluminum cans at the storage container
in the gravel parking lot. The
youth sort and bag the recyclables
each Sunday and an adult volunteer transports them to the recycling center. Thank your for your
continued support.

PLEASE PRAY for the following who are ill,

their families and those who care for them:

One of the most important weeks of our school year is

the celebration of Catholic Schools Week. We celebrate a school dedicated to living and teaching the
gospel message of Jesus Christ, and celebrate our
uniqueness as a family community.
Our Open House will be from 10:30 a.m. till noon.
We invite you to visit our classrooms, preschool and
computer lab. Bring a family who might be interested
in finding out more about our school, and why Catholic Education is the gift that lasts a lifetime.

Gala/Auction
This years annual GALA/AUCTION is scheduled for
Saturday, March 12 from 6-11 pm at Ascension Hall
in Tierrasanta. Our theme for this year is A World of
Pure Imagination.
This event is one of our schools main fundraisers.
The profit earned from this event will not only help
us purchase a new Language Arts and Social Studies
series for the elementary school, but it will also help
us provide many needed improvements in our facilities. The Raffle Ticket order forms are now available
in the school office. The Raffle Prizes are $5,000,
$3,000, and $2,000. Tickets can be purchased for
$25 each in the parish hall after the 9:30 Mass.
