Mid-Week Eucharist Update
The 6pm Mid-Week Eucharists have begun in earnest now. Five people attended the first Wednesday Eucharist on
January 20th. This week, January 27th, attendance increased to eight as we celebrated Sts. Lydia, Dorcas and Phoebe.
This coming week, February 3rd, we remember the relatively unknown Chaplains of Dorchester, four British Navy
chaplains who gave up their life vests to other sailors and loss their lives.
ANNUAL MEETING BRUNCH Slated for January 31
Please sign up on the bulletin board by the door in the undercroft if you would like to bring in a hot or cold item for the
annual meeting brunch. The brunch will be part of our annual meeting commencing after the 9 AM service on Jan. 31.
SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE DINNER, 9 February 5PM
Again this year the St. Dunstan's men will host, prepare and cook a Pancake Dinner for members of our church,
neighbors and friends for "Fat Tuesday." This dinner is one of our traditions of Lent. Please join us.
BOWL OF BURDENS
Beginning with Ash Wednesday, February 10th, we go from ordinary time in the church calendar to the beginning of
Lent. This is traditionally a time of prayer in preparation for Easter. Lent is a time to think about one's life choices and
mortality, as well as to reflect on one's life direction. There are no altar flowers, signifying the solemnity of the season as
well as reflecting this cold and quiet time of year when we anticipate Spring and Jesus' Resurrection from the dead.
Also, the big ceramic bowl filled with rock salt will again be next to the font. We can write our burdens on a slip of
paper and then bury them in the salt as a way of releasing them to God. Immediately following the Good Friday liturgy,
all of these burdens will be burned and thus being transformed into the light of the Resurrection.
Movie and Pizza night! Join us for fun, food, fellowship and a great movie! Friday, February 19 starting at 5:30 pm we
will gather in the Lottie Horn Room. Various delicious pizzas will be provided from Angelo's and beverages as well.
Salads and desserts will be welcome. The movie is A Walk In The Woods with Robert Redford, Nick Nolte and Emma
Thompson. Sign up in the parish hall so we know how many pizzas to get and come, join the fun!
A note from our treasurers:
We are now in contribution year 2016. If you have a box of envelopes from 2015, please THROW THEM OUT. If you
would like a box for 2016 and have not picked them up yet, you may get them any Sunday from Mary DeLong or Muffet
Stewart. If your children would like a box of envelopes for their donations, we are happy to provide them as well. That
way they will get a notice at the end of the year thanking them for their donations, just like their parents!

Lets Keep the Coffee Perking

Thanks to all of you who made our 2015 coffee hours a success. A sign up sheet for 2016 coffee hours is posted
downstairs by the door on the bulletin board. Please sign up or sign up with a buddy to host a Sunday. Funds are
available from ECW to help with the cost and help is always on hand for clean up. If your schedule cant accommodate
hosting or co-hosting, but you could bring in an item to share, that would be appreciated as well. Please see Tracy
Shaffer for details.
Would you please pass on our comment that St. Dunstan's is a special place and
Martha and I are so appreciative of the welcome and inclusion we have
received from the parish. We are counting the days to our return.
Regards.
Bill Thomas

IN OUR COMMUNITY:
A note from Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry:
With the sudden dip in temperatures we would like to ask for contributions of warm winter hats for adults and
children. These could be hand knit or new, purchased hats and may be left at the pantry any Monday, Wednesday or
Friday morning until 11 AM. A full tummy and a cozy warm hat can do so much for one's sense of well being as we face
the colder months. Thanks for your help.
Please continue bringing plastic grocery bags and food for the Little Red Wagon. Thanks!
